I have been to this vet for 4 visits with my puppy. Each time they have been friendly, professional and the exam rooms are clean. The waiting room is a little tight, especially if one of the pets are bouncing around but so far there has not been much of a backup of patients in the waiting room. Where do we begin? Since the first day we got Bean, he had had challenges with his health. With every challenge Four Corners Veterinary Practice (FCVP) was always there for us. Be it his rabbit mites, kennel cough, allergies, ear infections, diabetes, blindness, cushings and eventually cancer... Dr. Roccaro and the rest of the FCVP team always did what they could, or made the necessary referrals to help us and they stood in Bean's corner giving him the foundation and support he needed to fight against whatever he was going through. We almost lost bean on several occasions, where the outlook for him was grim. Time after time Beanie fought to survive and he always recovered from whatever he was going through. Sometimes that recovery was so remarkable that Dr. Rocarro commented the he could not believe it was the same dog or he could not believe how good Bean looked. Bean never gave up and was a true fighter, which made it easy for us to decide that whatever he needed, regardless of costs... we would do whatever it took to help him fight. He wanted to live and we would not let anything deprive him of doing so. Bean was happy, smart, and possessed an incredible personality... unlike I have ever seen in a canine. He was more than a pet or loving companion. He was more than part of the family. Bean was a part of my wife and I. Our lives revolved around him and we were happy to live life the way we did taking care of our Baby Boy. Some will never understand how we felt about Bean and why we went through the sacrifices we did for him. But we feel as though Bean understood and appreciated it. Thats all we needed. Bean has been with us for just over 15 years and we spent every day with him, except when he was hospitalized. Otherwise he was with us every single day and he was a huge part of our lives. Now that his heart has expired, we have to figure out how our lives work without him. There's a long journey ahead... but my wife and I will do it together. We are so thankful for FCVP for being there when we needed them to help Bean when he was hurting or even just for nail trimmings. FCVP always treated us with courtesy and respect and accommodated us in times of need. Thanks Dr. Roccaro for the special considerations in the difficult time during Bean's end of life process. Finally, Mary and I would like to thank everyone at FCVP their heartfelt sympathies. We really do appreciate it. If and when we are ready for another pup... It's been years since I've been here and for good reason. If you have no special issues and need a straight medical exam or shots then they're ok. I brought in my westie from about 1 year old to about 3. She always was sneezing and had tons of mucous. Dr Raccaro had her on endless bouts of antibiotic not even thinking this could be allergies which after 2 years of being there was finally told to me by another vet practice. This was my first dog and after researching the breed found out that they are big time allergy sufferers. How can a vet not know this??? I feel she suffered immune issues after so much antibiotic. I've been going to Four Corners Veterinary practice for about the past 4 years. Both Dr. Maritato and Dr. Roccaro are two of the kindest and most caring veterinarians I have ever encountered. They've been so compassionate with both my elderly cat and 2 year old dog who has been going there since she is 3 months old. All of the staff have been so wonderful and you can see they really love animals and care about your pets. When I found out my cat was very sick and had to make the decision to let her be at peace yesterday, the whole office was so kind, including when they consoled me when I had to pick up more medicine during the week. This is a small/ medium Vet practice (great Place). The staff is caring, knowledgeable and extremely competent. Our daughter's (little French Bulldog) Vet is Doctor Melina Maritato. Dedicated, caring and a competent professional. Her diagnosis on my little one are always on the spot! She is the real deal let me tell you. You may find good doctors out there but it's very hard to find one that really cares about your dog and is also aware of the difficulties the owners deal with it. We were very lucky to find doctor Maritato. Regarding this venue the only thing that is a little annoying is the fact that they are always very busy - - - and it is because of their great work. read more

I started going to Four Corners Vet Practice back in 2003. There, I got excellent vet care for my pets as well as my rescue cats. I visited Four Corners about once a month and got to know everyone at Four Corners. In 2010, I left Staten Island to pursue my education in central New York, Michigan and Maine. I didn't realize what I had at Four Corners until I left. Since I've moved around every few years, there have been many vets in my life. I have been disappointed many times by the vet care my cats have received. Sometimes, only a vet tech. has treated my cat and I found out later. Other times, I was overcharged and was not expecting it because of inaccurate estimates. Other times, a vet overlooked conditions and diseases what would have been identified by Dr. Maritato. Recently, I contacted Dr. Melina Maritato because I was frazzled and frustrated by an illness in my cat since September, 2022 which went undiagnosed by a vet in Maine. I was desperate when I called her on the phone, and she knew what to do immediately. She helped me diagnose my cat with liver cancer but too late to treat, and he died on 1/16/23. Without her help, I would have never known what the problem was. I have also had many excellent experiences with Dr. Greg Roccarro as well. Even trips to the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan were disappointing because you are seen by a student who lacks the experience and knowledge that you need, but you pay top dollar. Four Corners is hands-down, the best vet in the Northeast. I highly recommend them. Don't waste your time and money on anybody else. I would gladly drive the 12-plus hours to their office any time. Run, don't walk, to Four Corners! read more

Initially I really liked this vet. Been there a few times with my cat - friendly staff and doctors. I had an incident where my cat was constantly throwing up and I called them to see if I can come in and have my cat evaluated. They said the vets weren't available because they were doing surgery and sent me to Greater Staten Island Veterinary Services. There they did an X-ray and gave my cat some liquid and could not find out what was wrong. This cost me hundreds of dollars. Few days later my cat starts throwing up again and I call the vet to get an appointment. They said they are all booked up and to go back to that Vet hospital for blood work even though they had personally not examined my cat. Now I am thinking this blood work is going to cost me another few hundred and all this Vet hospital cares about is making money because when I called them there response was "come by we can do whatever test you want". I was very disappointment in four corners because they didn't seem to care about how much this was going to cost me (which is important to me because I can't afford to pay $800 a visit to do tests without any hypothesis or reason) and this was just a way to get me off the phone because they didn't want to deal with it. Instead I choose to have a second opinion at another Vet and they were able to diagnose my cat in five minutes. She just was constipated and needed to go to the bathroom which was making her throw up. They gave me liquid to help her go to the bathroom and I have not had an issue with my cat since. This was over a year ago now. If I were to listen to four corners, I would be thousands of dollars in the hole, with no diagnosis, and a big headache and anxiety on my hands. Both Four Corners and Greater Staten Island Vet are incompetent. I have not gone back there and even though they seem nice I would think twice about how they go about diagnosing and caring for your pet and ultimately for you. You could be spending thousands doing unnecessary things to solve something fairly simple and a vet that doesn't take that into consideration is not a very good one. This is also my first yelp review ever so I really felt wronged by them and wanted other people to read my experience and think twice. read more

I brought my adult cat, Tucker, in for a same-day appointment because he was suddenly having urinary issues and I was worried he might be in pain. My appointment was with Dr. Maritato and she was AWESOME! Tucker was a rescue and he's still pretty rough around the edges. He is easily upset and he can go from mildly agitated to full-blown aggressive/hissing/striking/biting in seconds when triggered. He ultimately needed an injection for pain relief, which I knew wouldn't go well, but Dr. Maritato and the team at Four Corners handled him with respect, compassion, and professionalism. Thank you so much for treating him with dignity, even when he was being exceedingly "feisty". Everyone helped hold him still with blankets and towels; the team cooed his name and spoke gently to him in an attempt to deescalate the situation (although there's no calming him when he gets like this). Overall, it was a more positive experience than other veterinarians who have approached him less delicately. I really appreciate your patience and understanding. THANK YOU! read more

I grew up in SI but moved to MD a few years ago. I bring my dogs back to Dr Rocarro from afar because he is truly an amazing person and professional. He always puts me at ease and takes time to answer my questions. I can't say enough great things about him. Love this vet. I have 6 animals and they all come here. Even my pets that passed came here. However i had an incident with a vet that filled in for one of the vets on a monday night. I've been coming here for years and i've never seen her but she said she fills in every monday for years. I have a pitbull/lab mix and she was very scared of my dog who just needed her nails cut. she repeatedly tried to force a muzzle on my dog who was scared in the corner whimpering from fear. She was very rude and said she isn't comfortable around big dogs. If you are not comfortable around big dogs THAT IS YOUR JOB you shouldn't be a vet then??? not every dog is going to be small and tiny. This place is amazing but that fill in vet on mondays HAS to go. Otherwise i would have gave this place 5 stars. read more

I am so happy someone recommended them to us. The doctors there are caring, nice, and down to earth. It's not a fancy looking office. They fixed our dog when she was 3 months old. We dropped her off and we picked her up, I think about 4 hours later. Other vets, one in Dongan Hills, insisted our dog had to be admitted the day before the surgery and the price was crazy.
