I want to start by saying I LOVE Kendra Scott Jewelry! I'm a collector, especially for rare, HTF pieces. I've learned that yes, in fact, a lot of her jewelry is NOT meant for everyday wear. Gold and Silver Plating over Brass cannot withstand everyday wear no matter how careful you are. With that being said, just know that even high end costume jewelry has a shelf-life! It is difficult and unpractical to purchase "fine" jewelry (real gold, silver and authentic stones or gems) to keep up with latest styles and trends in fashion. I feel that Kendra is doing a phenomenal job creating jewelry on the cutting edge of today's fashion! While it's not totally made to last with quality materials, it's certainly leading the way as trend setters....there are many fake Kendra look-a-likes so that tells me that she's doing something right! The reason I am giving KS 3 stars is this: I feel like there could be higher quality materials on the metals. For example, thicker gold and silver plating so the pieces last a little longer. More unique stones that don't look like cookie cutter style. Drusy's all look different and have been very popular, but I've been disappointed at the lifeless, flat drusys I've seen on some of your pieces. The lace agates are beautiful, please bring them back in more variation and colors! The Kyocera Opal (my fav!) is limited...make more shapes, colors and styles! Just upgrade your quality a bit, Kendra...even if just a little pricier, your customers will feel better with more "quality" in their investment. Collectors, like myself, will also feel like their Kendra treasures that they've worked so hard to find will last longer! Lastly, I recently visited a store in Southlake, Texas. My experience was very disappointing:/. It was my Moms Birthday so I took her to get her 50% off piece. She was very excited. No one asked to help us at all. I had to ask for help. Everyone there was very pretentious and acted like they were competing with one another...you could cut the air with a knife! So, my mom wanted a signature shape stone on a medium length chain. The gal simply said it's either short or long...she just sat there on her stool not inclined to help us find a necklace! I said, I know you have some in between because I have quite a few. There are many now with adjustable slider toggle closure so I had to hunt for one until she finally decided to help! Then at checkout, I said it's my moms birthday, she said nothing! Poorly-made costume jewelry, that's all...nothing special. They use thin plating of gold and silver, and the jewelry turns green! Be sure to check out "Not Recommended" reviews at the bottom for the whole picture. They also claim to use "real stones whenever possible." Most is either dyed cheap stones or glass...not real stones. But still at a "real stone" price. My stepdaughter is obsessed with Kendra Scott jewelry, so one day we walked in while on SoCo having dinner. I had the same experience many others describe. The women working there were snobs, completely ignoring us. They were more concerned about their conversations and one of the employee's dog than helping customers. But not only was the store experience miserable, but the jewelry was complete junk. Before going into the store, I had convinced my better half to surprise his daughter in the store by telling her to pick something out, and she was ecstatic. But as she picked out an incredibly cheap looking pair of earrings, SIXTY DOLLAR costume jewelry earrings, I noticed on the price tag it says "Made in China." Part of the reason she likes KS is that she's "local." Whatever, that's a complete sham. After leaving the store with a small druzy necklace and some "chalcedony" blue earrings after spending close to $150, her father and I felt cheated. When we got home I looked them up on the web to find out what we had just bought. The earrings are gold-plated brass with GLASS stones. The ones that have actual stones are dyed...and cheap looking as well. Anyway, they are not quality pieces...and I feel pretty stupid and embarrassed that we fell for it. I see people wearing this all over town and I'm baffled...it's cheap Made-in-China junk costume jewelry. Also, check the "not currently recommended reviews at the bottom to see more customers who are upset that the product is 1) made in China, 2) staff was ignoring the customer, or 3) jewelry has finishes coming off and turning their skin green. If you're buying this jewelry, it's not really designed for everday wear; it's occasional costume jewelry. If you wear it daily, the finish WILL come off. I was curious about the myriad of mixed reviews, positive & negative, of Kendra Scott jewelry.  So I did some research as to the recommended care instructions as well as the materials used.  It's not a secret that the base metal used in her pieces is brass as that is reflected within the product description.  Despite being coated with another product, brass is a poor quality base and is very inexpensive to obtain which is the reason for its usage of choice to a manufacturer.  Brass contains zinc and is very susceptible to tarnishing.  It is difficult to last just due to what it is, again despite being covered with something else.  Brass is not an easy metal to cover and have the cover last without rubbing off which in turn exposes the Brass.  Brass exposed to air, water, humidity, perfumes, products in lotions will exacerbate the tarnishing effect.  Even body oils will cause inexpensive finishes to fade or rub off exposing the underlying brass which definitely responds negatively to moisture and oils within skin. Something in Kendra Scott's care instructions for the pieces is not to expose to water, sweat, humidity, perfumes, lotions.  As well, the material used to cover Brass is also susceptible to rubbing off given nothing really adheres to Brass that well hence why it doesn't last long.  Once the coating over the Brass wears thin, just the exposure to air will cause it to tarnish creating a green residue.  It stands to reason those who rate the jewelry high and have no negative experiences with it are ones who likely don't wear any one piece that often which gives it less exposure with skin, don't expose it to perfumes or lotions, and store it in a dark, covered space as even exposure to light can adversely affect inexpensive metals. All in all, though this jewelry may have a strong visual appeal, it is very inexpensively made as well as manufactured under inexpensive labor being in China which makes the profit margin astronomical for the business owner.  Incidentally, the claims of Kendra Scott that the jewelry line is made in her home business location in Austin are likely relative and limited to the design aspect, not the literal manufacturing of the pieces.  All sales tags clearly represent "made in China" in clear view.  I don't mind paying quality for quality, but this certainly is paying quality for very much less than. Ordered a necklace from the website 11/20-ish - it was suppose to arrive 12/4 - it didn't. I called - apparently it got lost in shipping. The 2nd one was scheduled to be here 12/14 - arrived 12/17 - in a tangled mess with one of the little beads broken off the end. I have been in several times & I've never felt like there are any special perks coming to this or any other Austin locations. I drive over an hour to bring friends & family here and always think maybe it's my timing that it's not a unique experience. I've spent lots of money on KS jewelry & when I'm in store I feel like I'm a nuisance or as if it's an inconvenience to be helped. Today I drove my mother-in-law here (2 1/2 hr round trip) and was ready to walk out and forget buying anything. I had 3 girls begin helping me and they all ended up wondering off while they were assisting me at the color bar. The store was not so busy one person could have helped it was only 10:45. If it hadn't been for Cassi (the 4th & final girl) we would have left & not spent another dime with KS. THANK YOU CASSI! I asked the valet driver if there was any other parking as there was a repair man illegally parked in the spot who did not have a placard. He advised "well he is doing repairs in KS." While in Dallas was introduced to KS by my shopping buddy. The store was set up to appear to be upscale, however, I found nothing too interesting about the jewelry. Because my friend was very impressed by the product, I thought I would buy something just to see what the hype was about. The piece I chose was on a display. It looked great on the neck of the display. However, after getting it home and trying it on, it DID NOT fit. I was back in AZ and found another KS store in Scottsdale, so within a couple of days, I returned it. I think Kendra Scott jewelry is pretty, but what wasn't so attractive, was the customer service I received today at the south congress location. My mom had bought something for me for my birthday at The Woodlands store and was told by an employee at that store that since I wasn't there with her to take advantage of the birthday discount, that I should go to the store nearest me (Austin) and essentially return the item my mom purchased for credit and use the credit to get half off whatever I wanted for the value of the credit. So basically what she bought would act as a placeholder for the amount I could spend but that I would be able to potentially get more items. My mom then drove up to austin to take me to dinner and give me this present with the long story attached. So I set out for the Kendra Scott closest to me which was South Congress. I ended up explaining this story to three different people (all of whom treated me like I was trying to skam them and abuse their birthday discount policy). It wasn't until after multiple awkward attempts at explaining to the manager that I just wanted to be able to use the value my mom had given me to buy something with my birthday discount that they finally understood what I meant and apologized and let me use my discount. I had receipts and everything was above board but I felt so embarrassed by their interaction with me. I can maybe understand their confusion since it was sort of a backwards way to go about it on my moms part (ugh next time, a gift card?) but their attitude really turned me off. I came in after work (and I always look sort of bedraggled and ghetto after work. I'm an esthetician so I basically take a steam bath all day long...sweaty with frizzy hair, you can imagine). I felt like Julia Roberts in pretty woman when she goes into the shop on Rodeo for the first time dressed as a hooker and they are mean to her. Anyway...The only person working there that made me feel valued was a sweet sales associate named Natalie who very patiently helped me pick things out. It was exhausting and humiliating. Sadly, this was my first time shopping there and it left such a bad taste in my mouth that I don't think I will go back. Not to that location anyway. I live in kyle, so it was a long way to have to go to be put through such an ordeal. Also makes me wonder how insanely high the markup must be on their stuff for them to be able to give every customer a 50% discount on a purchase made in their birth month. Their prices seem like they would be semiprecious stones and "real" metals but I'm dubious. I looked online and the information is vague at best regarding how the jewelry is made and from what materials. Also, not a single employee mentioned the "color bar" to me when I was there which is a shame because I was there for probably a couple of hours trying stuff o and not quite finding the perfect thing that spoke to me. I ultimately found something, but it would have been nice to know about that option when I was there. The last time I visited this store I was wanting to purchase 3 pairs of the Danielle earrings for my sorority sisters but ended up not purchasing anything. I have been into this location on multiple occasions when it was busy and when it was slow. I am never greeted. I have noticed that when it is busy all of the blonde women are always helped but I am Spanish and not a single one of the girls chatting at the register so much as looks at me. Not a single girls offered any assistance even when I am the only customer in the store. Even while I am being rung up the girl does not smile or looks up at me. I only have a few pieces of jewelry from Kendra Scott (usually only buy during my birthday month). First pieces I bought were several years ago, a necklace and pair of earrings. I like the delicate pieces. After about a year the earrings started to irritate. I figured it was because they were larger than the dainty studs I usually wear. Bought another necklace and it felt very light and cheap even compared to my first. My last and final straw: I purchased a pair of earrings that I had gotten in a Rocksbox as they went w my wedding dress. Courthouse ceremony but nonetheless, It is on Friday. I wore the earrings today just to make sure I liked them for my dress. Within an hour my left ear got red, irritated and swollen. Since I got my ears pierced when I was 4 we found that I can only wear solid gold otherwise I have this reaction. So I've always been very careful. This is the first in 22 yrs that my ears have been so irritated! And for the price you pay for this jewelry is outrageous! Such a ripoff! Needless to say this will be my last purchase from KS. I'm not impressed with the items that I've gotten here. Everything has "made in china" stickers on them if they are out of the box, first of all. I thought Kendra Scott designed all of her jewelery here in Austin. I never wanted junk from China. Second, my jewelery from KS is not made well and looks cheap up close. I have not purchased it for myself but have gotten these items as gifts. The stones look and feel like plastic and the prongs are uneven and not very strong. I have to bend the prongs every time I wear these items to make sure that the "stones" won't fall out. I only wear these items when I visit with the people who gave me them as gifts. There is hardly any warranty with KS items but that is only written in fine print, of course, on their website. The gold toned metal starts to change colors more quickly than the silver toned metal but both change colors. This is very expensive costume jewelry and much of it looks like it came from Walmart. I think that the Kendra Scott name holds more weight than the actual jewelery. I have no idea how they get away with charging so much for garbage. I have no idea why Kendra Scott has "such a good name." It is beyond me! read more

However, I do not like that her no refunds policy, only store credit. I do wish they told you this before checkout. I've had a few pieces turn my neck green. The small drusy necklace at two months. I'm sure if I took it back to the store they would replace it, but it's not worth the hassle. I reccomend getting pieces you don't mind taking on and off. It was $55.00 but considering the hundreds of dollars that can be spent in there, it was a bargain ( or so I thought). I loved it and wore it all the time. I even found some earrings that l liked online and on sale and thought I was joining the Kendra Scott fan club. Flash forward 3 months later my "silver" necklace is tarnished and looking a little green and the earrings have left a greenish tint on my earlobes. There jewelry looks so pretty, too bad it will eventually rust and lose its gold color. I bought a necklace for my daughter, she never got it wet and put it in a jewelry box after wearing it. Unfortunately, the chain started to discolor and rust. It is cheap jewelry and I wouldn't waste my money. Go buy something else even for a few extra dollars and it may last more than 2 years. Kendra Scott has to be one of the best local jewelry places in town! I went in on such a busy night and the atmosphere was just what I expect walking into a jewelry store. Shiny and bright accentuating each unique piece! The sales girls were so attentive when I needed them to be yet, left me to my own devices when I wanted to be and even offered prosecco after I had been there a while! The girls were friendly and helpful, patient and understanding as I had been indecisive on what to get my sister, best friend and mom. The item I purchased for my sister was a final sale item and could not be refunded, exchanged or returned... this was quite the problem as I didn't know my sisters size. The girl at the counter was quick to point out that even through all that, I could come by and switch out the rings if it wasn't her size. Amazing. This is the kind of service I expect from a local jewelry store! The price point is AMAZING! You can find adorable, affordable pieces without sacrificing quality but, can also find your one of a kind pieces! Later, I went to walk my dog and found the package behind our apartment, all the jewelry was missing but the boxes were still there and was devastated that someone would do that. The next night I made a claim with UPS and emailed Kendra Scott and they emailed me that next morning at 8a.m., no questions were asked.
