Don't count on them to be anywhere close to the schedule you're given, and that counts both for takeoff and landing (I'm talking 45-90 minute swings). If I weren't in a hurry or if they had communicated that this was a possibility, it'd have been fine, but they didn't, and they also didn't seem to get why I was a little irritated. The staff were nice though and the experience was pretty cool. I opted for 2 stars because of the communication issues. Fix that, and it's a 4 star experience at least. read more

I was so surprised to enter this place and see that it looks like a legit "airport", if you can call it that because it's just one room. Everything about this place looks like a legit check-counter. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately our flight was canceled due to weather, but the staff were friendly and helpful in rescheduling or refunding the ticket. I had a package tour with San Juan Safaris for whale watching, and they graciously called San Juan Safaris to issue a full refund on my credit card, within a couple of hours of requesting a refund. Hopefully next time Seattle weather will cooperate so I can ride a sea plane for the first time to see some orcas! read more

Had a private charter for the day with some friends from Portland. Went all over WA and parts of OR, it was amazing to see everything from a small plane, can't beat the views. The pilot was a nice guy, he even turned us down for a beer (maybe he shouldn't drink anyway) while we were in Portland picking up and dropping our friends off. Would do it again, I just wish they could fix the cabin seal so you didn't smell the gas so much. All in all a fun trip, but it's gonna cost ya esp. if you charter one. read more

I was really excited to take the 20 minute harbor flight. My boyfriend and I ended up grabbing two spots from a cancellation (or so we thought). We booked over the phone where I gave the employee my credit card information and all the other details. When we checked in 20 minutes before the flight, they told us that they overbooked. How do you overbook a plane with 6 people???? It's not like it's hard to keep track of 6 people. And they couldn't tell us this information until right at the booking time. I was already charged for 2 bookings so I thought everything was all set. Their next flight wasn't for another two days, and we're from out of town so that wasn't an option. They didn't even bother to give us a voucher or even any sincere apologies. We are so disappointed!! Kenmore needs to have better communication amongst it's employees and with their customers because we wasted our time waiting for our booking. We are disappointed we didn't get to experience Seattle from the seaplane, but really more disappointed with the customer service and how they handled our dilemma. read more

We wanted to experience a romantic gateway from Seattle to The San Juan Islands and decided to take the Kenmore Air seaplane both ways. It was absolutely amazing the take off and landing on water. We went in the morning and return the next day in the evening and, we were able to enjoy the spectacular scenery. I was lucky to be the copilot on the way back to Seattle. The seaplane was a bit noisy but they provided ear plugs. They gave us a lot of personal attention and we highly recommend this trip. If we would have rented a car or taken the ferry we would not have been able to fully enjoy our two days in The San Juan Islands. Indeed the price of the seaplane was expensive, but well worth it. It will be great if they could have signs showing that the counter for Kenmore Air is at the end of the Seattle airport. read more

We chartered a flight from Whidbey Island to Victoria for a day trip and our pilot, Stuart, was awesome!! We had never ridden in a seaplane before and he was very friendly and showed us as much or as little about flying as we wanted to know! I was happy to just look at the amazing views out the window while my husband wanted to know all the details of the plane. :) He handled customs in and out of Canada to make it as easy on us as possible, and we even forgot one of our bags of souvenirs on the plane and he was nice enough to mail it home to us! Kenmore Air really helped me when I needed it. My son and his fiance were coming from Texas for our daughter's wedding at the Roche Harbor Resort on San Juan Island. They were flying in to SeaTac and flying from Boeing Field, via Kenmore Air, to Friday Harbor. My son missed his connecting plane in Dallas thus goofing up my carefully laid plans to get them to the island on a Friday afternoon.. I called Kenmore Air and they helped me arrange a next day flight which now would include me (my family drove to the island while I stayed behind to work things out). Parking at Boeing Field was free, check in was easy, staff was friendly, the waiting room was nice, and the flight was really scenic and comfortable. read more

What a great bunch these guys are. They're a scheduled airline, but they have a degree of personal service and flexibility that hasn't existed for decades (if ever) in "traditional" airlines. They'll let you change your reservations without penalties right up until the week before your flight, and they'll pick up and drop off at locations other than their regular stops for no charge! Just went from Sea-Tac to Friday Harbor, this is a tremendous value! From the check in at Sea-Tac, the bus to Boeing Field, the ground personnel, the Pilots, everyone was so friendly, helpful, and professional. Unfortunately the time in the air is too short, spectacular flights both ways and amazing views all around. This is the way to travel and they are in the Alaska Air mileage plan, so you get rewarded for having fun. This was my first time on Kenmore and it won't be my last!! read more

Friendly Pilots. Beautiful Views. Easy Schedules that fly in to all local harbours. Only Negative is that they have a hard time staying on time with small planes. In 2011 we flew with Kenmore air and our flight was right on time after our check in, 1 hr before flight time. Last year our flight was 2 hours late.... nothing like waiting for 3 hours sitting on your hands. We booked Kenmore again for our travels this summer and are excited about taking the trip again up to San Juan Island on a Kenmore Sea Plane. read more

"Three hours on an airplane" sound like the beginning of a horror-log. Instead, my flight from from Campbell River BC to Kenmore WA was an ear-to-ear grin: 300 some miles at 1,000 feet over sailboats, tugs towing barges, hundreds of birds, island estates, ferries, cruise ships, kayaks, coastal communities and isolated resorts -- flanked with snow-covered mountains with plenty more passenger elbow room than normal airplanes. We flew in a DeHavilland Beaver seaplane which lived up to its reputation. I watched over the pilot's shoulder and finally figured out what an airplane's instrument panel gauges were for. Our pilot was friendly, the shore facilities were comfortable and Customs was a breeze! One happy day with many, many pictures to prove it. Great company! Great seaplane! I had purchased two tickets for the scenic Seattle tour for a hot, Saturday afternoon. I had been very excited to do this activity and planned a whole day around it. We went to the Kenmore building and checked in and right before we were about to board, they cancelled the flight saying the water was too crowded to take off. I understand crowded waters being dangerous, but I am upset that this was never brought up as a possibility while I was buying the ticket as this must happen whenever it is a hot weekend day. But what really annoyed me is that the best the company did was refund our money for cancelling something we planned our whole day around. This is honestly insulting to me as I don't live near Seattle and wasted what was supposed to be a nice day. My advice, never book on a weekend day during the summer. Strong chance it will be cancelled. read more

What better way to treat a six-year old boy than to take him for a ride in a sea plane. On a recent trip to Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands north of Seattle (a little known locale among us Midwesterners), my cousin treated us to this marvelous manner of getting from Seattle to his house on Orcas Island. The Kenmore Air shuttle picks you up at the Seattle Airport and takes you to the downtown Seattle sea port, where the small, seven passenger plane awaits, along with a first class crew and ground service people who already know your name. The forty five minute, low altitude flight due north across the the various islands to the San Juans was spectacular on the sunny, not-a-cloud-in-the-sky day that we flew. We sat right behind the pilot, so my son could see him fly the plane. He was alternately glued to the window and to what was going on with the pilot. Once at Orcas Island the plane lands in the waters of the Rosario Hotel and Resort; you feel as though you could reach out and touch the surrounding sailboats as you drop somewhat precipitously from the sky. read more

An enhanced drivers lic is not suitable for going through Canadian Customs when traveling by air...however this important point was not made to this traveler, so had to go home to get my Passport and catch a later flight. Great way to mess up a day trip to Victoria. Oh yeah, I was told to be back for check-in at 10...when actual check-in was at 11AM. The wi-fi was good, the terminal dog was cute. read more

We took the 20-minute scenic view of Seattle. It was a bit pricey for a quick ride (even using groupon), but really a nice experience. The tour info is recorded and listened to via headphones during the flight. It was our first float plane experience, and a great way to see Seattle from a different perspective. read more

Okay, for my birthday, my husband took me to Kenmore Air on the Seattle scenic 20-min. sea plane ride departing Lake Union. On the e-tickets that we printed out at home and brought with us, it stated we should check in by 6:15 pm and our plane would depart 6:45. We showed up to check in at 6:09 or so and the terribly rude staff member informed us that she couldn't believe how early we were checking in and that we should come back in 20 or so minutes. She checks us in anyways, then tells us to wait and not leave as our plane would actually be leaving soon. Fine, I can handle a snotty lady at check-in as long as we have a good time in the air I guess. So my husband and I decide to wait outside on the deck attached to the office/waiting area where other people seemed to be waiting as well. After watching a few planes come in and dock, several people went in and got in the departures line so we assumed we should line up as well. When we get to the door, a different attendant stops us and in a sarcastic tone asks "can I help you?" clearly trying to make us feel stupid. My husband kindly informs her that we thought we were in line for the scenic tour and she tells us that's not what they are boarding for or it wasn't our turn and to go sit back down. Staff is terribly rude- I was embarrassed for them to be honest. As we waited we overheard the same lady that gave us the ax at the departures line telling some poor person on the phone who was lost and trying to locate the office some pretty nasty little comments about "not following the planes to get here" and "I don't have a clue where you are so I cant help you" in such a rude tone. Finally after the person on the phone arrived, we were able to board the plane who was flown by a pilot who I think maybe said a total of 5 words. Including the safety details. Anyway, ride over Seattle was beautiful but we will never, ever go back to Kenmore air again simply because the staff was rude, unwelcoming and acted like they didn't even want to be there. Put a damper on an otherwise lovely scenic air tour of Seattle. Happy birthday to me, right??? read more

I made a reservation with Kenmore air to attend a friend's wedding on Salt Spring Island. When I made the reservation all of their scheduled flights were full and they put me on a waiting list for my departure day saying that they would call me when another flight was added. I knew that there were several other guests still planning to book and was confident that we would have the numbers to add another flight. Well, it turns out they did add another flight, which all the other guests got onto - but they never called me and didn't confirm my booking. Now I have no way to get to the wedding. Just a return flight with Kenmore that won't do me any good. Realizing their mistake they made no offers to try to resolve the issue and basically put it on me, saying that though I was on the waiting list and told I would be notified, I should just call every day to see if they have added availability. Definitely not a business that I would want to rely on for transportation. read more

While I can appreciate the beauty that one can behold from a sea plane flight between Lake Union and Friday Harbor, the scenery is the same from a regular plane and non-Kenmore service is preferable. Generally the service is unnoteworthy but today I was so deeply offended that I will hopefully never travel with them again. I have no idea why such awful employees would get hired. read more

Kenmore Air is a great airline. We received excellent customer service yesterday when we arrived and due to our daughter's expired passport we were not able to board the plane for Canada. The supervisor kindly helped us giving instructions about how to obtain an expedited passport and booked us on a flight the next day at no extra charge. She also waived our weight overage for our luggage which made the trip go even more smoothly. She took a stressful, unexpected situation and made it as easy as possible. I love these guys. Class act in the skies and a great presence for lake union. When you weigh your options for travel around the northwest spend the extra money and go with Kenmore. I've tried them all - Victoria Clipper , Coho and Kenmore is at the top. Clipper is expensive and they don't have their act together from all standpoints. Coho is a little further away, that's their only downfall. Anywyas, Nice work Kenmore, the whole experience on your planes and staff was bar none. read more

horray! i will never have to drive from seattle to whidbey island again! no more two hour treks with rush hour traffic and waits to get onto the ferry (although i do love the ferry ride). kenmore air and their fleet of little planes rock my world. i'm giving them a solid five stars even though they did lose my bag (seriously, not sure how THAT happened on such a teeny flight) and it didn't show up until nearly 10pm - BUT they were incredibly apologetic about it and did go out of their way to deliver it out to the farmstead that eve. if you time it right you can catch a sunset flight that takes you to san juan before dropping you in oak harbor and that, my friends, is a beautiful sight to behold. the flight cost was totally reasonable and like i said, you'll save yourself the hassle of getting out to the islands via car. a must! read more

Absolute worst experience ever. Had reservations for a seaplane flight from seattle to Friday harbor to leave at 8am. We checked in at 7:30am. About 10 minutes later we were told our flight was delayed and should be leaving an hour no problem. We went and got Starbucks then came back. After that hour delay passed they then came out and let us know the flight would be delayed a little longer. Around 10am they finally told us our flight was completely canceled. I had a whale watch tour scheduled for 11:30am so I asked the agent what she would suggest to get us there earlier. She said what's the big deal there's plently of other stuff to do in seattle like ride the duck. No accountability for the inconvenience or any attempt to try and help us or show any understanding what so ever. I ended up calling westwind aviation and they were able to schedule us a flight right away to get us to Friday harbor. Suggestion to kenmore air hire some people with customer service experience because it was terrible. read more
