BE VERY CAREFUL - we booked a flight from Orcas Island to Lake Union, Seattle earlier this month for an unaccompanied minor. Without explanation or fore-warning, Kenmore changed the destination to Lake Washington, Kenmore. This is a different city, a different body of water, and a 30-minute drive out to Kenmore and a 30-minute drive back to Seattle (essentially ruining the reason for the 60 minute flight). We took her to the Kenmore site at Deer Harbor, filled out an unaccompanied minor form, and talked with the pilot. The minor's parent planned to be present when she landed. At no point did anyone tell us she would not be landing at the destination we paid for - she was informed during the flight that it had changed. Kenmore first claimed they sent us an email. We have all the emails, including updates, but not this one. They then claimed they called and left us a voice mail about the change. We have no such call or message. Imagine an airline allowing you to buy a ticket to one destination and then taking your minor child to a completely different location with no explanation and no warning. It is completely unacceptable. Another passenger confirmed that she too had bought a ticket to Lake Union in Seattle and was only informed during the flight that she would be landing 20 miles away. Booked a scenic flight for my sons birthday. We show up and are waiting with another large group. While there we see the previous flight land and we sit and wait until ours is supposed to take off. Just before the flight time to find that our flight was canceled due to low viz. We were told we can try and rebook later that day which we did but that also got eventually canceled for low viz. in their defense the weather wasn't great and we left disappointed but not with the Kenmore team and ops. Better safe than sorry when it comes to flying. We waited a few weeks to rebook as we didn't want to risk another cancellation and disappointment and we got lucky and saw a beautiful Saturday on the weather report so we booked again. That morning we couldn't believe the great weather and walked with our son feeling confident we would get to fly. When there we were told they canceled all flights due to "viz" even tho the weather was perfect. Again we left dejected but the real reason for the one star is that we live right near the lake and saw multiple planes take off after being told none were flying. It's one thing to just cancel likely because of profit but another to lie to our and my son's face. Awful experience with this team. On my day to fly to Victoria the front desk told me that I couldn't take a cheese gift box with me to Canada (which wasn't the case and the costume officer in Victoria told me you can bring hard cheese. You just need to declare it). Kenmore front desk clerk then told me however you can leave it here and pick it up later when you're back in Seattle. He gave me a receipt. When I came back to pick it up the person at front desk told me that we couldn't find the reservation for the package and we threw it away because things in the fridge were molding!!!!! C'mon, Do you think your customers are stupid? They promised me to reimburse me the value of my package ($44 for the cheese box) and never did. It wasn't just the value of my package but the time I stood in the line to buy it and the time wasted on my last day to visit your facility to learn that the package was "thrown away". We emailed and asked specifically to be put on the same flight as our friends who were all on the manifest together, and we received an email saying that we would all be on the same plane together. We had one passenger who has a very significant fear of flying and felt better being distracted by being with their close friends. The email telling us that we would all be together was apparently a complete lie because we were splitting into two planes resulting in significant distress for our friend. Also, the planes are very old. Updated planes and accommodating Your passengers requests to be on the same plane would be recommended. At the least, don't tell people that they will be on the same plane and then split them up. The pilot was extremely unpleasant and unfriendly. The staff at the check in counter was also unfriendly. UPDATE - was contacted by Kenmore Air. They apologized and agreed that customers need to be notified. They said this was a mistake. They are investigating why it happened. they are looking at how they can improve. For example by having a flight status page and by trying to confirm that customers received the text update. Based on follow-up I am setting the rating to four stars. Flight cancelled with no notification. Our flight from Victoria to Seattle was cancelled. Reason was weather. It was a light rain. Not fun to get a flight cancelled. But that I understand. But to not notify me that the flight was cancelled is totally unacceptable. We were stranded in the rain and had to walk a mile to catch a ferry in the rain with our luggage. They could have called, texted or emailed. They chose to not care. We ran into other stranded Kenmore air passengers at the Ferry. They too had not been notified. i like this company and used them before. But not even carrying enough to tell us a flight had been cancelled is unacceptable 1 star. Must treat your customers better read more

Kenmore Air you made my fiance's day! I surprised him by booking us on the ride along flight from Seattle to the San Juan Islands. He LOVES planes and neither of us had ever been on a seaplane before. Luckily, my fiance got to ride shotgun on the first half of the trip and he was ECSTATIC! I got to ride shotgun on the way back and it was really an exciting experience. The whole trip had great views, unique cloud cover, and was so smooth. My husband and I flew Kenmore Air from Seattle to Deer Harbor on Orcas Island for our honeymoon. Even though taking a seaplane was much more expensive than taking the traditional ferry, it was worth it! We were a tad nervous at first because we did not know what to expect from such a small plane that lands on water, but we had nothing but good experiences from Kenmore Air. The takeoff, landing, and the flight itself was really smooth. You are able to see great views of Seattle, the water, and the islands. The pilot was very friendly and entertaining! The seaplane flight saved us so much time as it was only a 40 minute flight to Orcas Island from Seattle. The flight is a little noisy so they do provide earplugs if you need them. Yes, you can take an inexpensive ferry to Victoria but taking a seaplane is a really special treat. We did the seaplane thing a few years ago in Alaska and knew it would be a lot of fun. Kenmore Air, on this particular flight, was much more of a traditional airline than a sightseeing adventure. They do offer several types of flights but our was just a straight shot from Seattle to Victoria. They own the land on this lake, the airport the planes and they employ the pilots and staff. Very much like a traditional airport but ultra small. We had boarding passes, needed to fill out customs papers, etc. The pilot was courteous and helpful with our luggage but we were not offered headphones and there was no narration or tour. Kind of noisy up n the air but we had ear plugs. We were blessed with good weather so the sights were gorgeous. read more

For the Homie's spring break and my staycation we came up with several ideas, including a Seattle Aerial Tour via Kenmore Air. Literally, since the Homie was a little baby in a stroller one of his earlier words was 'ba' every time he saw a seaplane overhead. And for me, something I haven't done despite being a King County resident since the early 1980s. Booked online two days earlier was straightforward and had greater availability, and knew the weather was forecasted to be sunny and clear this particular Friday ($198, for one adult and one child). Also they do ask your weight! Make sure to bring photo ID for in state tours (and your passport if doing any flights to Canada). Pro tip though, give yourself ample time for check-in due to the city's traffic and finding parking. A lot of construction workers pretty much monopolized the pay parking along Westlake. Our 2 hour parking was cheap $2!, but we had to speed walk quite the distance to the Kenmore Air location at South Lake Union. The main reception area has friendly staff, restrooms, maps/tourist info, and souvenirs. (scored on both a sale pullover and sweatshirt after our tour!) Bring your sunglasses, video camera, and/or charged smart phone with video capacity. Our group got to fly on the seaplane with the Evening Magazine logo (10 person capacity, including the pilot). Despite being there the earliest, the other male tourists, jockeyed ahead in line on the dock. So despite The Homie was the only student and I was the only female, there is no preferential or reserved numbered boarding. If you want to ride alongside the pilot and not stuck in the back seats with intense engine fumes like us, queue closer to the departure gate. Everyone does get a window seat view though. Just saying, if that's your goal to not be disappointed. Once boarded, buckled in, we got our pre-flight instruction, donned the headphones, and took off from Lake Union and airborne relatively quickly. Beautiful views all around including UW Campus, Lake Washington, Elliott Bay, Seattle and Bellevue skylines, the Olympics, the Cascades, Mount Baker, Mount Rainier, the ferries, and more. Loved all the landmarks being a long time resident. I didn't realize The Homie had fear of heights, but relaxed a few minutes into the flight. I enjoyed it tremendously and wished I had done this sooner. We were all lucky because our scenic tour lasted much longer than advertised. Awesome takeoff, amazing aerial views, and splashy landing. Highly recommended, especially on those sunny, clear PacNW days! read more

Flying on a seaplane, finally get to cross this off my to-do list. I needed a quick way to get to Victoria in order to maximize time, and this option looked a lot better than the ferry. We flew from Lake Union, Seattle to Victoria, BC, in about an hour or so. The take-off and landing were both flawless and smooth. Breathtaking views through the flight, I think I took around 30-40 pictures! The pilot was really nice explaining all the instructions and helping everyone get on board. He even helped us take pictures before taking off and after landing. The plane itself is very comfortable, seats around 4-6 people. My girlfriend and I shared the back row, so there was plenty of space for us. Such an amazing experience, worth every penny! TIPS: If you're flying internationally, arrive at least 30 minutes before take off due to customs otherwise you should expect a call from the Kenmore office. read more

I had no idea until I saw the US customs line inside that this place can be a jump off point to our neighbors up north, or to nearby islands. So, if you feel spontaneous, bring your passports. Now, onto the flight experience (tour of greater Seattle metro). It is exactly what you expect it to be: A sturdy, cushy, antique tank w/ wings flying you around for half an hour, swooping over and under landmarks, skylines, and foggy lakes. Incredible views of the Pacific Northwest. I'd put this sea plane tour alongside a days visit to Mt Rainier national park as must do 's if you're planning on visiting Seattle. 5 stars read more

We took the scenic tour last week and what an amazing experience! The customer service was great from the minute we walked through the doors to check in. Such a unique feeling to take off and land on the water. We were up in the air for almost a half hour and saw so much! Thanks to our duck boat captain from the day before I was able to keep my eyes peeled for Xanadu 2.0 and got a great shot. Sea-Playin' with a Baby The Kenmore Air team exceeded our expectations in all regards, providing a streamlined and entertaining experience from start to finish. There is some complimentary parking available on site with a small gift shop/waiting area aside their dock. We enjoyed the Scenic Flight over downtown Seattle, which was approximately 20-25 minutes, affording the most tantalizing views of the best sights in Sea Town! Taking this adventure with our 1.5 yr old daughter made the flight that much more fun, albeit perhaps a bit more challenging on a couple occasions . The engine/propeller noise was not too loud for any our comfort levels, although they do provide headphones and ear plugs at every seat. The pilot also broadcasts a guided tour which you can choose to listen to or not. Friendly team of employees who were all professional and polite for my family's first sea plane flight together! What the hell is the George Washington Bridge? That's not a real thing. Anyway it was the wife's birthday last week so I was trying hard to find an experience that she would enjoy instead of some ostentatious gift. I lived in Queen Anne for about 2 years and I had seen this place 100 times and I always wondered what they did there. Well the long and short is seaplanes. You can take one to Victoria, or down to Mount Rainier, or for a mere $99 you can go the 30 minute Seattle scenic tour. Jackpot! I did take a little effort to buy the actual tickets as for some reason their website kept declining my credit card (which had plenty of money on it). I had to call during regular business hours and have someone run my card through the regular card reader. Then it worked. Weird. On a unfortunate note just as the plane was taxiing out from the wharf the wife got a TMZ update that Kobe Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash. That was a little unnerving but the show must go on.....mostly because we had already pulled away from the dock. I'll be honest here these flights are a bit bumpy for my taste. I don't ever think I need to do this again. Every gust of wind pushes and pulls the plane left and right so be prepared. As for the actual tour you could not ask for better views of our beloved city. I would recommend anyone to go out and at least try it once. I just lack the fortitude to do it a second time. I really liked the audio that came along with the tour. It was full of little juicy bits of local trivia. All in all a good experience. read more

We were in town and scheduled a whale watching tour in Friday Harbor. Rather than taking the 3 hour ferry, we decided to take our first seaplane trip. What a great experience!!!! The entire process was simple and easy. The flight itself was a lot of fun. It was a beautiful day and you could see for miles. We took the flight back to Seattle the same day and again the experience was great. Also found out that you could take the plane to Vancouver. Kenmore Air was very nice and pleasant, seaplane over from Lake Union to Rosario. They should offer more flights over to Rosario. It's difficult to coordinate a flight into SeaTac and then over to lake union. You will have to wait there some good hours. Also, kenmore should offer a shuttle from SeaTac to Lake Union. It would make life so much easier. They offer it to Boeing field and vice versa but not Lake Union. Time to start looking into it ! read more

Booked flights for a weekend trip from Seattle to Victoria. First, just days before the trip they change the return flight location from Lake Union to Lake Washington without explanation. We had planned to drive to the Lake Union terminal and leave our car there for the weekend so that we would have it easily accessible when we get back. We don't have access to anything at the Lake Washington terminal so we request they help by providing transport to our car at Lake Union (our departing terminal). They say no and offer run-around excuses as to why they couldn't. Next they cancel our outbound flight 15 minutes before closing the day before. We call immediately to try to change our plans, maybe a different flight or cancel our booking and take the Clipper instead. We sit on hold for 10 minutes before they pick up the phone, mutter "Jesus Christ" and hang up. At that point, the office is closed so we can't get ahold of anyone anymore. Now we have a canceled outbound flight, non-refundable $1,300 hotel booking, and can't get ahold of anyone. They do not give one fart about their customers. Never again. read more

Bottom line: They promote flights to Victoria as quick, but they are not reliable enough to count on a quick trip. Might as well book the ferry. I booked a trip to Victoria - one way on Kenmore Air, coming back on Victoria Clipper. Trouble is that 2 days before departure Kenmore Air moved the departure from Lake Union to Lake Washington - because of Lake Union boat traffic. They provided a shuttle from Lake Union, that I would have to show up an hour and a half earlier. Since I was going to be in Lake Union that would make the trip take as long as a ferry. So I called Kenmore Air to have me rebook on the ferry and give me a refund of the difference in fare. That proved to be so much of a challenge that I ended up spending an hour on the phone, and still ended up paying more for the ferry than I would have if I bought the ferry ticket from the start. Kenmore Air reps were trying hard, but somehow they managed to make this very complicated. When I spoke with a manager later, she felt that they handled everything properly, and said that maybe Kenmore Air is not for me, if I am not flexible with my plans. So if anyone is planning a trip to Victoria or Vancouver - I have advice for you. Don't expect to get to your destination quickly, or you may be sorely disappointed. And don't expect anything more than an apology from Kenmore Air - they are operating in an unpredictable environment (weather, boat traffic) and are not able to offer more than a refund (if you cancel) and an apology. read more

What an amazing experience! This should be on everyone's bucket list in Seattle. The views in the summer are spectacular and the ride is smooth. You hop onto the plane at a dock in Lake Union, and then you swiftly glide into the air and you may even spot some whales en route. We flew to Roche Harbor on San Juan Island and it was beautiful flying in. The service and quality of the flight was superb and I would definitely go again... it is pricey though so it's worth saving for a special occasion or if you're really pressed for time. read more

Wow! This was a truly amazing experience and I'm glad that we did it with a professional airline like Kenmore Air. Rus and I recently took a seaplane from Seattle to Victoria, Canada. It was the first flight out of Seattle from Kenmore that morning, and the staff was friendly and patient the whole time. A young fellow asked to sit up next to the pilot during the flight and they happily obliged. Having Customs right on the dock made things easy, stress-free, and fast. I will start by saying Kenmore offers a incredible service in their scenic tour, as it was a beautiful experience and a perfect way to check out Seattle... However, their costumer service could be tightened up. We arrived and checked in at 12:30 PM for our 1:15 PM flight... we were told to be back by 1:00 PM to board seaplane. We arrived back at 12:58 PM to board and we were told that we were 'too late' and that our seats had already been given away. NOT OKAY. The miscommunication was irritating and there was no accountability being taken for their mistake. There were 2 extra seats on the 2:30 PM flight and luckily we didn't have plans so we stuck around to enjoy the ride. They did, in fact, give us a full refund and apologized.
