My brother-in-law stayed there to get rehabilitated from an injury and they constantly lost his medication and there was pee on the floors and in the bathrooms. It was disgusting and dirty. They treated him poorly and would definitely ignore patients. It was gross and disgusting. read more

There appears to be a serious management issue affecting nursing staff at the Center. I've heard repeated concerns about an extremely hostile and stressful environment created by the person overseeing nurses. Staff reportedly feel afraid to speak up, morale is very low, and many employees are leaving or really consider leaving because of how they're treated. My experience with this facility was extremely disappointing. Although my grandfather had been medically cleared by his doctor to return home, staff refused to allow his discharge when I arrived. On another occasion, I simply asked at the front desk whether he had already been discharged, and the staff member responded with hostility--raising his voice, stating that I was not the "responsible party," and refusing to provide any information. This behavior felt unprofessional, unnecessarily confrontational, and lacking in basic courtesy. While I understand the importance of privacy policies, there is a respectful and appropriate way to communicate those boundaries. Families who are actively involved in a resident's care--especially when the resident has consented to sharing information--should not be treated with hostility or dismissed outright. Instead of receiving clear and respectful communication, I was left feeling excluded, concerned for my grandfather's well-being, and powerless during a time when family support is critical. I hope the facility takes this feedback seriously and works to improve both communication practices and staff professionalism. Families deserve to be treated with respect, and residents deserve an environment where their support systems are acknowledged--not pushed away. read more

My dad spent about a month at this facility, and while he was understandably upset at first, by the time he left, he and the staff had formed a real connection -- they were actually sad to see him go. When my father first arrived, I spoke with David and requested that he be moved to a facility closer to me. David assured me he would do what he could and keep me updated. True to his word, they not only kept me informed but were able to transfer my dad closer to home -- something I'm incredibly grateful for. During one admission, I personally witnessed the treating physician discharge the patient from his office. However, shortly afterward, hospital staff refused to release him and insisted that no discharge had occurred. They then stated that APS was preventing the discharge. These statements were directly contradictory. If the physician discharged him, it is unclear why staff claimed no discharge existed. If APS was supposedly blocking discharge, it is equally unclear how my dad was ultimately able to take him home. The inconsistent explanations created confusion and significant distress during an already difficult situation. Clear communication and accurate representation of a patient's status are essential, and this experience reflected a serious breakdown in that process. read more

Very disappointed in that facility. My grandma passed away there, and I feel that the service was quite bad nurses were unattenong. Nurses had the RBF faces when I asked for CHHA to bathe my grandmother. There are many other facilities that do a much better job. read more

This place is horrible. I literally called that place 11 times in one day and each time I kept getting transferred to their over flow voice mail. So finally around 8pm got fed up and drove down there only to find my dad in his bed with feces on his sheets and was in completely incoherent. I had to tell the nurses to call 911 to come get him. Then I go to get his stuff and all his brand new shorts and shirts were gone as I brought his stuff home and started going through it I realized they gave me a few things that weren't even his and his IPad was missing . I didn't know his iPad was missing till I got home and my brother told me he had taken it to him . This place was dirty depressing and the staff was incompetent. read more

This place claims to be a 24 hour facility but yet you can't reach any of the staff by phone freaking ridiculous. My father is being housed there. Currently, and I am beyond frustrated. he let me know some things that were really concerning and yet I can't reach anybody on staff by phone there. I called to check on my neighbor/friend that I was not allowed to see for almost 5 yrs. The social worker was very nice and concerned. They didn't know that she had friends, and no she doesn't have any family. I haven't made it to see my neighbor, but I am working on it. read more

My mom spent 3 weeks here, this is such a great rehab and care center. All of the staff are caring and thoughtful. The overworked and kind social worker Irina was available practically 24/7. Dorothy in the business office responded to all my concerns. CNA Courtney is sweet and considerate and smiles constantly, she knows how to respect the lives she cares for like they are her own family. My only complaints is that they don't have enough staff so when the patient needs a bath they may skip it and just do a sponge bath so that they can get to their other chores. The last complaint and one that probably can't really be fixed, the memory care patients are not segregated from those who have physical ailments and make it difficult to rest. read more

When Cedars recommended a few skilled nursing facilities for our father, we did our due diligence prior to entrusting him with Kennedy Care. We think that we chose wisely. We always felt that our father was in caring, compassionate hands. The staff was attentive, efficient and even affectionate towards him. His case manager - Liz - worked with us to insure that all of his needs were met. Nurses Maria, Claudia, Millie and other staff were especially helpful in making our dad's stay as comfortable as could be expected. It is evident that the management and staff place a high priority on cleanliness and sanitation. We're grateful to Kennedy Care for the wonderful care that they provided. My first impression when I came through the propped open door was being met, and employee was cussing up a storm. When it was noticed that I was standing there, I asked which room I've been assigned to my sister at first I didn't know Ben gave me a room number, I went to look at the room number and it was not good. I knew then I love doing is not going to stay there, but she was already on the way and when she got there, I ambulance eight to Rosso met. I am not having a room ready finally was decided which room, they got her there and put her in a bed three people to a room in any case. My loved one was out of there within two hours. They did not have the proper equipment to take care of her. I couldn't even get a wheelchair. I had to borrow them from somebody to get her out of there all in all just no! read more

The admissions girl Jasmin was very helpful when it came to explaining the process of admitting my family member . She toured me around and the facility is beautiful. Multiple health code violations. Do not put your family here they will die. There is mold in the walls. I was hit by another patient I was robbed you push the button and nurses don't come for an hour and 45 minutes. You stumble into your wheelchair in the middle of the night to get help when you're in dying pain the food, the trays are dirty, the health code violations they were written up for or available through the health department just ask for a report. read more

Do not recommend. Old facility. Understaffed. There was no screen on the window and outside below the window was a large trash can full of old wood and construction materials. The facility had the rooms combined with patients that needed convalescent care and patients that were post surgical care. They should be separated. read more

My first nursing job I came from the Philippines as a fresh graduate and also as a new professional nurse. I have applied to multiple nursing homes but Kennedy has been the best choice I have ever made. I worked during the height of the pandemic and witness the true meaning of being "Kennedy's Angels" many of us sacrificed hours at work instead of being home with our families to care for the sick and embody the relatives, families and friends of our residents. We struggled, we cried, and we almost gave up but what made us standout and be strong was how we treated each other. Not as co-workers or colleagues but as a FAMILY! I have learned alot from Monica, the administrator, she breathes being the best administrator she will have your back and protect you just as her own. To DON Valerie, who taught me most of my clinical skills and believed I would be the nurse I should be; to Arvie (IP) who taught me how to manage my staff the first few months; to DON Mitzi - who taught me the importance of composure and proper observations both for clinical and management roles. Honestly, the best nursing home!! My family member was looking for a facility near Cedars and this facility came highly recommended. They always answer the phones, the nursing staff is phenomenal and extremely attentive, and the building newly renovated. I was scared at first because my aunt has never been alone, especially at a nursing home, but they treat her like she is family. I highly recommend!!! Unlike the place that my Mom was in before, this place is kept clean and free of bed bugs, so that's one star. And unlike another place we checked out for her, with 6-8 beds per room, this place appears cheerful and limits patient density to three to a room, so that's a second star. But two stars is all they deserve. Some of the staff are truly kind, but too many did not even make an effort to hide their contempt for my dementia/schizophrenia stricken Mom and, to make things worse, the type of medications prescribed to her did not calm her condition, but reinforced its worst symptoms. Worst of all, though my poor Mom was at the final point of her life, confined to the space of her bed and night stand, and too helpless to even complain when her space was invaded by roommates, the staff did absolutely nothing about it, not even when we complained on her behalf. I don't know if it's like this in other facilities as well, I just know that this facility left a bad after taste. read more

It's been almost 5 years since my mother-in-law's admission to Kennedy. Definitely no regrets! I would like to share "how & why" Kennedy Post Acute Center. HOW: What I would hope for all families to do when looking for that reputable assistance for their Loved One(s)? I visited quite a few facilities not once but twice (by choice). Each facility 2x. My first visits obviously recommended by the hospital by requesting a site visit with a Social Worker who oriented me with what their facility had to offer. My second visit was unannounced/unexpected to validate my decision and would not be based on preparations just for the sake of gaining a resident to fill the facility quota. I made sure to speak to the Administrator of the facility, Nurses, Social Worker, Physical Therapist and others if they were available or requested a call if they were not. I made note of the environment and cleanliness of the facility. WHY: The life of a person would be in the hands of individuals we can trust, care for, love, aware for patients safety, medical needs and attention to detail in our absence. I observed the interaction between staff and residents and activities, cognition & stimulation most needed for residents. DON'T HESITATE TO ASK QUESTIONS! Upon conducting my due diligence of all the facilities I toured, I discussed my selection with my husband, brother-in-law & his wife. Long story short, process of elimination came to our conclusion it was Kennedy's integrity, patient care, attention to detail great communication between the facility & the family. I felt confident that my mother-in-law was to be in great hands. After all these years, we never forget to say "THANK YOU" and continue to show our appreciation to the Staff & Management of Kennedy who are our eyes, ears, heart and always gave and continue to give us that PEACE OF MIND that we made the best decision. We developed such a beautiful relationship/friendship with Kennedy. Most importantly, our Mom is doing really well and has fully acclimated to her surroundings. I have been a resident at Kennedy for four years. There are many attentive and caring nurses and staff. There is one department not functioning up to par. The kitchen. Approximately four weeks ago I had questions regrading my meal plan. The dietary person wouldn't talk to me. A week later I had to get one of the administrators involved because she still wouldn't talk to me. For three weeks I have been served fish every day sometimes twice a day. Fish every day was NOT the meal plan the administrator and I discussed. In these three weeks of trying to get her to speak to me, she is still ignoring me. Today I sent back the fish and was left with no lunch at all. I'm so hungry. Makes me wonder who else is being ignored. Bring food to your loved ones. read more

The staff is extremely amiable. That's the good part of the facility. In terms of administration and business affairs, my experience leaves a lot to be desired. I'm admittedly extremely exasperated about information regarding insurance coverage from a case worker there, that turned out to be inaccurate, and to make it worse, that case worker is claiming that the inaccuracies were discussed previously when they never were mentioned in our initial conversation. Also was alarmed that many members of the staff seemed to be oblivious to my loved one's medical condition sometimes when I'd visit even though they interacted with her on a consistent basis. My friend has been here for many days after leaving ICU at Cedars - well, of course, it isn't Cedars nor is the price. The staff work so hard to keep the patients and their families happy - buzzers ring all the time and they are polite and kind, responding as quickly as possible. There are some very sick people there with dementia and I know the staff do all they can to make them comfortable. Rosanne is one of the head ladies and has been so kind to my friend and the few guests he has. She is running all day as are all the staff there. There is a special place in heaven for people that work that tirelessly with really sick people and their concerned (sometimes very demanding families). read more

This is my 3rd grandparent staying in Kennedy. Although there's no place like home, Kennedy care offers my grandmother round the clock care. The staff is attentive and kind. There are plenty of activities and group interactions that my grandmother can't get at home. There are hand sanitizing stations all over the facility and the staff really takes covid protocols seriously. That being said, the staff is also kind and compassionate and they go above and beyond to make my family feel good about my grandmothers care. They integrate medical care with compassionate social interactions. And the facility is bright and cheerfully decorated. read more

Horrible. The only time it "appears" to have any sort of cleanliness is when the inspectors are coming. Dietician loves carbs and not protein. A handful of staff actually cares about the patients, and most of them are the housekeeping. An experience of 12 months and many complaints to management to no avail. My cousin Yan M. had to go for rehabilitation twice in the last 6 month, both times at Kennedy Center. First time we choose Kennedy because they had multilingual staff, but second time we choose it because of great job they did. Each time after hospital Yan was weak and unable to walk on his own. And both times after Kennedy came back home able to walk and feeling much better physically and emotionally. We want to thank Kennedy staff, all of them, for a great job they did. It was not a single time that our questions was not answered, our concern not taking care of, or Yan's complains (for example sock lost in laundry or book fell behind the bed) not solved. Yan stayed at Kennedy during COVID and we where not able to visit him, but text messages from Kennedy few times a week telling us that all staff and patients was tested negative gave us  great comfort.  If you ever had to take care of elder sick person by yourself you know how difficult and demanding this is. This place is a mixture of good and not-so-good. Let's face it -- Kennedy Care Center is on the lower rung of the US Healthcare ladder. They are crowded (3 to a room) and understaffed at times. However, the people who do work there are very nice and compassionate and helpful. They honestly care about the patients, unlike many other nursing homes. read more

We haven't been inside but feel horrible for anyone that's trapped in there. We live behind this and can hear patients screaming for hours on end day and night. The staff set off alarms while going on extended smoke breaks out behind the building. We understand some of the patients may have dementia and are confused but is letting them scream for hours proper care? read more

My father who has dementia lived at Kennedy Care Center for 5 months and we had a wonderful experience. The staff there really cares and took the time to get to know my dad. They learned what methods of communication work well with him and tailored their approach accordingly. They didn't push him to do things against his will - they were very respectful. They communicated regularly with our family and were willing to work with our financial situation. With any nursing home there are issues that come up, but I felt that the staff at Kennedy Care was very helpful, open to suggestions, and willing to work with us to come up with a solution. The owner, social worker, and the staff we worked with put my father's needs first - before what was convenient for the facility, and we were very appreciative of that. That seems like it should be a given but we were at other skilled nursing facilities before that wanted to do things that were not in my father's best interests just because it made their work-flow easier. Eventually we left Kennedy Care to go to a facility that was dementia-specific because we felt it would better meet the needs of my father's illness, but aside from not being a dementia-specific facility, Kennedy care is great! read more
