I am reviewing the main Kennedy Hospital admissions and surgery at the hospital which is now part of the Jefferson medical system. The lady in admissions that reviewed and completed my intake information was very kind, caring and professional. She had an upbeat attitude and was very pleasant to deal with. I had an unusual situation in regards to insurance coverage involving multiple companies and she went over and above her duty to ensure that it was all resolved properly. Everyone I encountered from admissions through to the recovery room were very positive, caring and proficient at their jobs. I feel so lucky to have this tremendous medical resource right in town. I would recommend having surgery there. read more

I have been here a couple times the one dr, I had was very nice! I was admitted for a couple days. The only thing is the rooms were very dirty and just gross!! The whole time I was there no one even cleaned it, you could see all the dirt there was even some blood on my sheets, I asked to be changed!!! read more

This hospital doesn't deserve any stars. This is a joke of a treatment center, absolutely ridiculous. They wouldn't let us see our dieing grandmother,and had no sympathy when she did pass under their care. Our grandmother unfortunately passed away alone, not even a nurse by her side. The administration and security should be ashamed of how they act and talk to mourning family members. The night of her passing on 12 January 2022 at 7:50pm The security members in the ER section named Jose and Brian made a remark stating," I can't wait for this F*****g family to be gone with." Mind you were waiting outside in freezing temperatures waiting to see a immediate family member who has already passed. I will give it ZERO star because it's horrible the staff are very rude and aggressive BE AWARE FROM THIS HOSPITAL I don't recommend going there specifically for labor They told us we can visit from 8to 8. 2 people at time after we drove 1 hour and 30 minutes to visit my sister they didn't let us in I asked for the reason they didn't say why, all what they said is "we are being difficult " when we did everything they asked for. They are confusing and very not fair My sister is very unhappy it's her second day after giving birth and they don't let my mom visit her DO NOT GO THERE !!!!!! The nurses and doctors are so unprofessional. I'm a diabetic and I came and was put in the back in a room and forgotten. I was brought back about 3pm, they took my blood work about 5pm, about 9:30 pm the doctor finally ones in to say I have elevated glucose. I said I'm a diabetic and he responded, Ohh. So I have been here over 6 hours and no one tested my blood sugar. Then I pushed the call button and guess what it was not working. I went out the room and pulled the dr in. He fixed the call button and I tech came and and turned it off then walked out. There is more but need I say more. read more

Horrible hospital. Came in at 8pm due to extreme dizziness, migraine, and uncontrollable vomiting. Waited 2.5 hours to see a doctor. Once I saw doctor it took another hour to get the meds. After that I was so drowsy I don't remember what happened until I woke up at 7am and moved me to another area. Once in that area I saw a nurse briefly and she took my vitals but provided no more meds. She also didn't ask how I was feeling or anything else. I've now been waiting 4 hours to see a doctor and have demanded I be discharged instead of furthered charged as I could get better care elsewhere. I've been told I just need to wait as others are of priority. Everyone else in the room saw the doctor but I still have not. Terrible care from the nurses, not enough doctors, ridiculous wait times. read more

My daughter had an allergic reaction so we brought her to the emergency room where we sat for almost 3 1/2 hours. When we were finally seen they swabbed her and gave her Motrin and then just sent us home. The Pediatrician did not even check her throat or or anything. We were told that we would receive a call with the results of the viral swab test. We never received the call. read more

First of all can I give less than one star? 0 stars Still currently sitting in the waiting room after four hours... they came back and checked my vitals after the first two hours, which all had taken a turn for the worse, but still provided no service. They told me I was second in line then proceeded to provide services to 8-10 people ahead of me. They show no compassion for any pain you are in and do not provide adequate services in a timely manner. This isn't even the first time I've suffered from terrible service myself or had someone else suffer from bad service at this hospital. I suffered a head injury one evening, came into the ER, and was told to wait for hours in the lobby before being seen. I had to struggle to keep myself awake due to concussion received from head injury. They're over all service and characterization of severity of pain is ridiculously poor. A friend of mine came here to have a procedure done and then ended up with a serious infection which had her hospitalized for days. While being hospitalized she did not receive very good treatment and her room was consistently dirty-- dirty trash cans with used bandages and such that were not properly taken care of. I suggest if you consider coming to this hospital, even if on your deathbed-- you go elsewhere cause you may certainly meet your end while waiting for their care. read more

This review is for the Select Surgery Center of the Kennedy Health System. It's kind of weird to review a surgery center, but I just had to. Keep in mind I don't get surgery often or anything, but as far as horrible procedures go, this one was almost pleasant... well not the procedure (I wasn't awake for that) but my stay there, before and after the surgery. From the moment I walked in the door and checked in, to the moment they wheeled me out to the car to go home, every person I came across was absolutely wonderful. They explained everything I needed to know about my surgery, answered all of my questions, gave me excellent discharge instructions, and did every little thing possible to make sure I was comfortable (socks and heated blankets!). They even called me the next day to make sure I was okay. I have never had that kind of treatment from any medical place or professional in my life. It was so refreshing, that in my hazy (drug induced) state I kept telling them how nice they were, and they replied with how they wished all their patients were like me. At this my best friend almost fell out of her chair, because she knows how "pleasant" I can be at times, but it's true I felt so confident that I was being taken care of properly that I was truly pleasant. Anyway, if you choose an elective surgery and have options, I highly recommend the Select Surgery Center. read more

Jefferson/Kennedy Health system and all the doctors and nurses there are awesome. I have absolutely no complaints about the care and the results of my treatments and surgery. (The food? Yuck lol). I mistakenly went to a different hospital in an emergency and was so upset at the lack of care and the attitude of the nurse. Never again. While having a stroke I googled the best stroke care hospital and it was Jeff in Stratford. Wow was that right! I absolutely love this health care system! read more

We waited for 4.5 hours for my mother who is 86 years of age to get checked in. This hospital is on of the worse in Nj

Had to be transported by ambulance from an urgent care because of weakness in my legs and feeling like passing out. They did some tests and determined that there was nothing wrong with me. Then at 1 am decided to discharge me but my car was in an urgent care parking lot. So they got me a cab voucher and had the cab driver drop me off in the urgent care parking lot!! Next day had to go to another hospital due to my legs continuously giving out on me. Never again! read more

Whatever you do don't come to this hospital!! My wife came in with sever pain in her stomach. Waited 5 hours just in the waiting room without her being seen. Then another 2 more hours once we got a room to see a doctor. And the nurse came and checked on her two times and we have been here for Almost 10 hrs. read more

The ER staff, from the front desk to the dr's and nurses are just awesome. My time to be seen was 20 min if that and the care I received was amazing. They really do take that extra step to make you feel comfortable and well looked after. Beautiful hospital too, very clean and organized. Love this place! My father spent his last days in ICU here. The staff were caring and attentive. The doctors and nurses gave excellent care. The doctor personally called us daily to update us, and everyone was always willing to answer any questions that we had. We never doubted that everything was being done for him. They made a crappy situation more bearable for all of us. read more

I'm John M.'s girlfriend (see his review), and I'm giving them one star, even though they managed not to kill me. Beyond all the problems in the ER that John mentioned, they sucked once I was admitted, too. I was sent there on a Monday evening with a diagnosis and an order from the eye doc for a an emergency CT scan, an MRI, and a spinal tap. Simple, right? No way.... I didn't emerge until Wednesday afternoon. They admitted me and made me stay there for an unessecary amount of time to pad the medical bills. All I was doing the whole time was waiting: waiting for the right docs to show up, waiting for them to find a spot for me, waiting for tests, waiting for answers, mostly just waiting for them to figure out what the hell they were doing. The best part - they don't accept United Health Care (my insurance). I had about 6 different nurses while I was in there between the ER and the wing where I was admitted, and 2 of them were good... everyone else - docs, techs, miscellaneous staff - absolutely sucked. No one knew what was going on, and even once they found out what was going on, no one was on the clock long enough to do anything about it. Every time my situation started to look hopeful, there was a shift change, and we'd be back to square one. The only people who were worth the visit were my eye doctor who initially sent me there - he showed up the next day to check on me - and the Neurologist, who was only in there for 5 minutes, but managed to do more explaining, problem solving, and doctoring than anyone else did in three days. I plan to give both docs seperate, glowing reviews at a later date. I remember a time when Kennedy actually was a great hospital with a decent ER. These days are long gone. If you're a Jersey person and you must go to the ER, go to Virtua instead... otherwise, head to any one of the nearby Philly hospitals. read more

Patients in the hallway with numbers taped to the wall to identify them and old fashioned call bells to call nurses . Not safe at all . If there was ever an emergency you could never get patients out of there safety . Also zero privacy . What happened to hippa rules ? The staff are pleasant to deal with but the facilities are sub par at best . My mother sat in the hallway of the E r for two days because they didn't have a bed for her . Awful. This place was great when it was actually Kennedy, I don't know what happened with the switch to Jefferson but their policies are a mess and standards of care are completely in the toilet. They'll basically let you die in the waiting room before taking you back in the ER. Standard procedure anywhere is if someone can't breathe or is having chest pain that's a huge red flag and they jump the line. Not here. I won't go into detail but yes, this actually happened to my family. The techs we had during a separate visit were so clueless we literally had to walk them through what they were supposed to do and getting their attention was near impossible. If you can avoid it, go elsewhere. I hear the new Inspira is top notch. read more

Do not come here! I was brought in by ambulance from the urgent care because I was having trouble breathing and the treatments they gave me were not working. I was put in a room, got vitals and blood work done and an IV. Then I was left for over 5 hours with no one telling me anything except for two hours in when a doctor came in and listened to my lungs and said I'd have to be admitted. They kept having people come in to do tests but no explanation as to why or any updates. Still my oxygen is low and I have been waiting for a nurse to bring me water like I asked for an hour ago. I haven't had anything to drink since I've been here and it's over 6 hours and with the coughing my throat is so dry. They are too busy talking and joking and not really caring for the patients here. It's sad but It's not like they are actually trying to help patients here anyways so why waste time. It's all a money grab, do a bunch of tests that I'm not sure are even necessary and bill the heck out of the insurance. They don't care about patients at all. There are people in stretchers in the hallways being ignored as well. The tell me I need to be admitted but once I ask to sign myself out they tell me they have to wait for beds and they have about 30 people waiting. So they were just going to keep me in the er for observation which I wouldn't have been upset about but they don't even tell you anything unless you ask a million times. I wasn't even connected to the monitors cause the nurse disconnected them so I could use the restroom and then disappeared without reconnecting them. So what are they observing? This place is a joke! read more

I went to this hospital in severe pain, extremely dehydrated, per their testing had large crystals ( aka kidney stones in my urine,) major muscle aches from my cholesterol meds, rsd, fibromyalgia, etc, was not offered pain meds, fluids, nothing, left in a room in extreme pain to cry alone. Left in more pain than I came in. They left at least 6 bruises on me trying to run an IV bc they couldn't get an IV before the Dr eventually put an IV in my neck ( very painful!) then sent me home w no fluids, no pain meds, only Tylenol, extremely unconcerned about my comfort. I don't feel as if I was treated with care, compassion, dignity, or all my issues were addressed at all. Not as if I were a family member, that's for sure. I was asked if I was on illegal drugs, which surely I was not and the blood tests proved that. I said my pain level was a 7 but was offered nothing more than Tylenol. My pain was not taken seriously. The Dr did not take his job seriously. The people who attempted to run an IV caused much more pain and that was never addressed. I cried when I was alone in the room and after I was sent home. I was not believed. It's an awful feeling. That Dr should not be practicing medicine. He was a jerk. And conveniently, I was never given any sort of survey, good thing I know how to use the internet. He should be stripped of his license. He has no compassion. read more

My sweet 67-year-old mom was admitted to the emergency room barely breathing, due to stage 4 cancer complications. The staff did not provide her with oxygen until hours later. After breathing treatments did not help, my weak mom reached for her inhaler, immediately two nurses wrestled with her to it take away. read more

Most of my time was spent being transferred to different telephone numbers throughout billing of the Kennedy health phone system because the client care representatives over the phone did not know how to look up my account information using the tools they had in front of them. It seemed difficult for them to ask for help within their team, the representative figured out they wanted to give me a telephone for another department instead asking their teammates or supervisor within the department to help look for my account. They all need better training to help clients find what answers their looking for and better etiquette when answering the phones. Their operator was not helpful and extremely rude, Her name was Jessica. Update: I called Medical Imaging (Radiology), the women that answered the telephone had more information and helped lot more than the rest of the representatives, older gal. She gets cool points. read more

The conditions and outcomes at this hospital need to be brought to the public's attention. The administration seems to care about finances and not the health of the patients. It seems that patients have died from poor decision making and neglect by the Kennedy health care professionals. Possibly from the directives given to them by the administration. There needs to be an investigation of this hospital looking at practices and patient outcomes. read more

Kennedy bills everything through the hospital. If you use the Outpatient Surgery Center and your insurance co pay is lower if Outpatient center is used you will be charged the higher co pay amount for the hospital because of their billing policy. I called to straighten it out and was told this is their policy and nothing can be done. Insurance told me all they needed was a fax letter of phone call stating I did use the Outpatient option, Kennedy said Nope will not do. i said you can't tell me I am the first to have this problem they said Nope you are not! Claim went into appeals and dispute and was still sent to Collection Agency (a first for me) I won the appeal but now have this on my credit history. Did I mention I am a 30 year employee of Kennedy??? read more

I would give this hospital a Neg.10 if I could. I took my son there on 12/28/18, he has epilepsy and was having extreme migraines, nausea, and his right eyes was suddenly appearing as a lazy eye and rolling to the center. They would not give him a wheelchair, in case he fell and had a seizure, we waited 3-1/2 hours and several requests for help to the triage who refused to let him lay down or wait in a quieter area. They called same patients over and over, when they were already brought in to see the doctor. Our family doctor sent us there and said to ask for a CT Scan of his head, but we couldn't get any help. We left there and then on New Years Eve I brought him to Inspira Hospital in Woodbury, we finally got the CT Scan and found he had a large cancerous brain tumor. He was rushed to Jefferson in Phila. He suffered a stroke on the way to Jefferson and had emergency brain surgery. He was in a coma for 10 days and we were told he was brain dead and we should make end of life arrangements. This hospital is the most unprofessional bunch of idiots that know nothing about heath care. They should fire everyone on the nursing staff that was in the hospital that night. My son is still alive, had to have another brain surgery on 1/29/19 and remains unable to speak, walk or go use the bathroom by himself, or receive cancer treatment on his brain tumor because he can walk or move his body to get proton therapy. I don't know how these people sleep at night when they play games with peoples lives like this. My sons life is changed forever and not for better, but I am lucky he is still alive for now. read more

My mother in law (I am her medical advocate). Spent several months being shifted from the KENNEDY Hospital to the KENNEDY Rehab Center. The hospital was average at best (probably 2-3 stars) they were attentive and dealt with her medical needs. But literally tore her skin ( she has paper thin skin) when transporting her. The rehab center was a different story. If I could give less than one star I would. With the exception of one nurse they were the worse nursing staff I have come across. They would and could not answer my questions(I am the POA). They were rarely available. And often left her in bed with just a diaper on and uncovered, even when there was a planned meeting with the family. The PT and OT was substandard, and she was often ignored. After 49 days of trying to get them to take care of her we transferred her to Advanced Subacute Rehabilation Center in SEWELL, NJ. It was like night and day. Nursing staff, PT, OT was so attentive and. She is safer, healthier, and making significant progress. read more

My daughter had a sonogram at your hospital. The woman who did the ultra sound, Lisa Castro was the nastiest , most miserable, disrespectful person I've ever met. All she did was complain about other patients and how stupid the other people she works with are. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. read more

The billing department is very rude. I had questions about my bill, and needed explanation, as I am not an expert with insurance matters. The more questions I asked the more of an attitude that I received. I was spoken to as if I was a moron. I received 5 minutes of care with a doctor and 1 x-ray, and was left with a hefty bill. Worst hospital I have ever been to. Avoid at all cost. We came at 1 pm and are still hear at 9 pm waiting for an ultra sound to see if my wife had a burst appendix. After 5 hours I asked the doctor how long it was going to take as my kids had been home by themselves after school and I needed to go check on them. He gave me a dirty look like I should not have been talking to him to start with. I wouldn't come back to this dump if I was dying out front. Total time so far 7 hours. The nurses in labor and delivery need to do their jobs correctly. I'm very unhappy that when my daughters babies meconium tested positive for codeine, they immediately called DYFS before even speaking to the doctor and getting her records. My daughter had a severe case of bronchitis and was prescribed promethazine with codeine and her ob/gyn approved this medication as safe for her and the baby. Had they done their jobs and not jumped the gun, she would have been able to bring her baby home today as scheduled. Instead we have an open DYFS case and she can't bring the baby home until tomorrow after DYFS does a home visit. I'm furious with this place, they are completely inadequate and clearly not properly trained. They should be ashamed to do this to a first time mother. read more

I visited the ER Wednesday March 22nd between 1145pm and 215am for a leg injury. The front desk staff, triage nurse, transport tech, radiology tech, both treatment nurses (the one actually treating me and the one who fitted me for my brace and crutches), physician, and the medical information clerk were all fantastic! They were all very polite and had an excellent sense of humor. Working late hours, you kind of have to. I was treated with great care and respected by everyone. While I was not there on a weekend or busy time of day, the staff was great and everything was clean. There were several college students there for emergency care, but the staff worked quickly and efficiently. My treatment nurse, Laurie or Lorraine (she had short blonde hair and she was a RN BSN, I may have gotten her name wrong) was phenomenal and helped me with everything I needed. My physician, Dr. Demartino, explained things thoroughly and had such a fun personality. I really had a great experience. Thank you so much! read more

Oh Kennedy, Oh Kennedy.................. the only reason I'm not giving them 1 star is because they didn't kill my girlfriend. I do honestly believe that they were just waiting for her to die of old age. During a routine eye exam the Dr. insisted she immediately go to the ER due a problem he identified. Now he called ahead to the attending and sent us down on a Monday night. No one ever wants to go to the ER, but I figured Washington Twnshp on a Monday night would be a safe bet. I couldn't have been more wrong....... 13 hours in the ER until they finally admitted her. This was after I had to argue with every nurse, murse, orderly, janitor, and resident to have the attending look at her and follow out the doctors instructions. By the time the attending saw her he had to call her doctor at 6am because the original attending was off duty. It was a completely outrageous situation. The real kicker to the story is I manage to contract some sort of gut rot while hanging out there and after bringing my G/F home I had the worst stomach virus I've ever had in life and almost ended up in the ER myself........I don't doubt that Kennedy is a good hospital, but they need to properly staff their ER. read more

I just moved to the area and did not have a primary doctor yet, was having horrible chest pains and trouble breathing last night, (female, 29 years old) after some talking in to I decided to go to the ER today (which I was really not looking forward to because I was nervous and wasn't sure what they considered an "emergency" or if I was just being paranoid) WAIT TIME - 15 min from the time I signed in, until I was hooked up to an EKG machine- another 15 min I had a chest X-ray done. While the doctor read the results I had blood work done, that was the longest wait for the blood work to come back.(about 30 min). The staff was VERY friendly, I mean I don't think I passed one person that did not smile and say hello. Both doctors that explained my tests/ blood work were SO NICE. When I was leaving the sweet nurse ( brown hair, mid-late 30's ) that does the Intake even stopped me ( by name, which she remembered :) to ask me if I was "outta here already" and how did I make out. I would say my total visit was around 3 hours MAX. From the time I stepped out of my car until I got back in. Every Doctor and nurse I came in contact with was VERY friendly. I was so nervous to go to the ER and now I'm laughing at how silly that seemed for how nice and quick the visit was! Oh also, it was very CLEAN! Which is a big deal to me. THANK YOU Kennedy ER Washington township! I hope I don't have to come back but if I ever do, I won't be nervous next time! It really was a pleasure! read more

Thank God for the nurses here. My husband went to the ER with severe pain, fever, nausea, severe dehydration. An incompetent blonde doctor who was more interested in flirting and pretending she was on Grey's Anatomy was about to send him home with a script for an antibiotic "just in case" and a directive to take Tylenol for the pain (he was hooked up to a morphine drip that wasn't totally managing his pain, so I guffawed at this). Fortunately a couple of the nurses heard and saw that he was going to be released and set the doctor straight and he was admitted. The next morning tests came back and he had a severe bacterial infection that needed to be treated with heavy-duty iv antibiotics. He was in the hospital for a week. If you need to go to this ER, expect to rely on the nurses. read more

I spent 35 minutes on the phone with representative just make appointment for a ultrasound. She was very slow but thanked me for being patient with her. Arrived for my 9 am appointment at 8:50 am where I'm told to sign in and have a seat. Then I'm called back to the desk to be told they don't see my appointment in the i system ! They call they tech so I can be weeded into the s a schedule. The tech come out with a attitude and tells me it will be hours before she can get to me because I am not on her schedule and she has to take scheduled people first. I tried to tell her I had a 9 O'clock but she had no intentions of helping me. The time spent telling me she would not do my ultrasound could have been used to do my ultrasound. Instead I was then placed on the phone with a"supervisor " to further tell me they wouldn't be able to do my imagining. Very POOR customer service. I made a early appointment for a reason and why was my appointment not made correctly after spending so much of my time on the phone making it! read more

My opinion, incompetent idiots. Took my Fiancee there gave the intake people at Kennedy hospital (Washington Township) a complete and detailed list of her medications (which she needs for COPD and seizures). Gave the same list to the attending Doctor in the ER. Just found our they haven't given her ANY of them except the one I told them she DOESN'T take because it makes her sick. I was wondering why she looks worse today than when I brought her in yesterday, now I know. It's been more than 24 hours since she's had her medications. I'm feeling VERY upset with Kennedy hospital right now. They better hope nothing bad happens to her or they'll get to meet my lawyer in court. read more
