This year we stayed in cabins 17 and 20, which worked out perfectly for our two families. During our stay we went hiking, horseback riding, and enjoyed several meals at the restaurant. The horseback ride up to Kennedy Meadows Lake is a must-do, and the restaurant serves some really great food. The weather was absolutely perfect, and there's just something special about unplugging and enjoying the beautiful scenery. The only downside is the reservation process. You have to book about a year in advance, and it can take a lot of phone calls before you get through. It would be nice if there were a waitlist or a more streamlined reservation system for returning guests. That said, we appreciate the old-school charm and usually just take whatever dates or cabins we can get when the opportunity comes up. Despite the reservation challenge, we keep coming back year after year because it's such a wonderful place to make family memories. Highly recommend the horseback rides, the hike to Kennedy Meadows Lake, and dining at the restaurant!

In short, this is a "maybe" recommendation…read more To preface, I have visited Yosemite National Park many many times, with many many stays at campgrounds, the Yosemite Valley Lodge & The Ahwahnee. My family loves this park so much that my husband & I chose to get married there last year. I think overall this is an okay campground for the most part. It is well located within the valley loop. It is close to some popular hiking routes, is next to Merced river and just down the road from Curry Village. However, a few things to note that didn't make it a 5-Star stay. 1) Customer service - upon entry, we were greeted by two very friendly hosts. Our party had a physically disabled person with handicap plates on the car. One of the hosts let us know that the stall we parked a car in (temporarily) to unload was designated for law enforcement, but okayed us unloading for 10 minutes. We appreciated the info and consideration. Nearing the 10 minute marker another/separate host approached us really quite aggressively, yelling about us breaking the law and that we need to move immediately. We explained the discussion with the prior host we spoke to, but this one kept yelling at us about how our car looked empty (it wasn't) and wouldn't stop yelling at us until we moved. We totally get the technicality of the stall, but we did receive an okay from another host and this guy was just aggressive as hell with no regard to ADA considerations in a very temporary situation. No law enforcement used it the entire time we were there (several days), did 10 minutes kill them to let a disabled guest unload?? It just was not very host like and incredibly unprofessional. Approach would have meant everything. To add to the poor customer service, we were later accused of pushing the limits with our tents and having more than 6 people (we only had 4 people) despite other campsites directly next to us having at the least 8-10 people, who lit fires mid-day, who had on occasion left their fires completely unattended, and who smoked weed and screamed & talked loudly way after noise cutoffs.. yet no host was approaching them about any of that. 2) some campsites were way overgrown with weeds and fallen over tree trunks. 3) no soap in the bathrooms. As a lover of this park who has stayed more times than I can count, the stay this time at North Pines overall was just okay. The lack of customer service and disregard for disabled persons from some of the hosts was something I don't think myself nor my family will soon forget. I've/my family had never been made to feel like that before, especially at a place that wants conservation support and goes through so much to accommodate ADA.

The cavern was outstanding and our guide explained in detail the history. There were two young children in our party and they had a great time asking lot's of questions. Overall a great experience.

I would rate a 10 star if I could but this app only lets me do 5 stars. And after the tour you can buy your photo with them at the gift shop for you and your group which is super awesome. I know on you tube theirs a few videos that show the expedition tour but I myself can't even fit in those tight spaces let alone deal with the claustrophobia and fear of heights this was a good and safe tour for me. Thank you guys for providing this! Also heads up for anyone planning on going to spiral tour the stairs is a long way up and a long way down make sure to have a camera strap for your cameras or phones so you do not drop it or lose it. The staff is super friendly and the campground is a quick drive to town, not far from Ironstone Winery and Murphy's. The cabin was spacious and we loved that there was some tree cover for shade. Also thought the cooking pavilion with sinks and stove burners was really convenient. With that said, was it worth $187.50 per night to stay in a log cabin with no amenities, that not been cleaned ahead of arrival? No, wouldn't do it again. Upon arriving to our cabin and paying $25 to check in 3 hours early we found it full of spider webs and leaves. We also noticed that when other people had checked out during out stay no one came by to check or clean the cabins. Our cabin had 2 ceiling fans, one of which the chain was broken or removed so only worked with the light on. This made for very hot nights. The bathrooms were close by and pretty clean but 1 of the 2 bathrooms was locked and unavailable for the majority of our stay. The grounds are pretty desolate, its all paventment and gravel. There is a sand volleyball court where you can also play badminton and a basketball hoop with a dirt court. The pool is not heated but in the thick of hot August it was refreshing. It is old and needs maintenance but did the trick to cool us down. The office has a store, but calling it that is a stretch. It has some candy, soda, firewood and ice. If you forgot something it would mean a short drive to town for provisions. For what we got at that price, I would not book again.

Clean restrooms, clean trails, impeccable grounds and views, ample parking for me but when I was done hiking the spaces were full. Hiked to the viewpoint then walked the numbered trees loop. Saw bear, dear and likely raccoon tracks. Plus saw proof that "yes" a bear does poop in the woods. Lots of woodpeckers, chipmunks, ground squirrels, jays and junco birds, The trees are so large, incredible sequoias. Many of the huge downed trees have been preserved, propped up and or fenced. I hiked about 4 miles. It was a great day.
