I stopped in here to get ribs. They were nice, they greeted me when I walked in. They have a sign up that says that they will let you sample the food for free which I thought was great because I never been there before. The lady at the register indicted that she was going to get my sample. I waited about 15 mins in which case people where coming in and she was taking there order. I guess me waiting was good because it gave me the opportunity to go through the menu. The prices re high. It also gave me the opportunity to go through the yelp reviews. Once I did that I got up and left went to a bbq spot in Homewood with way better reviews. My advice don't waste your time coming here. read more

First the cashier didn't seen to be in a happy mood, I try to ask her about the rib tips and she seemed not to want to give me an complete answer also about the location of a Walmart store. I ordered a half order of rib tips and a sausage link the food was good but the sauce and coleslaw were so small it was like one spoon and it was gone, they seem to be very skimpy and giving that out it was not enough sauce for my tips. This place is worth 5 stars for the food. As you can see I ordered my meal with sauce on the side so I could see what I was eating. It was hot and fresh and tasty. The portions are generous; I didn't eat most of the fries but sides cannot be changed. This serving covered two meals. The rib tips are amazing, but the fried chicken was also decent. I ate it on day 2 so take that into consideration. The service did improve in that the place got busier and manager seemed to wake us and realized his role. I'll definitely go back, and I recommend you try It for yourself- just don't ask too many questions when u get there. read more

Every now and then, you get food so bad that you have to warn others. Despite the bad reviews, I decided that I would give Kenny's Ribs and Chicken a try for myself. What I received was ribs that were so tough, I literally hurt my mouth chewing them. I've had beef jerky that was more tender. These ribs were dry and flavorless, and just plain hard. I cannot understand how that food could have been served to anyone. That lack of care regarding the quality of the food and how it is cooked doesn't make sense to me. With all of these bad reviews, how is this place even still in business? I implore you all to stay away from this place. The fried wings in bbq sauce were excellent!! Unfortunately, the gentleman preparing the food lowered his mask, and was talking to someone while packing the food. This place should embarrass the owner, Ken Lewis, Sr. It's been neglected for years, and NO ONE seems to care. The only thing that APPEARS to be clean is the takeout containers and cutlery. I honestly don't know why I go back (oh, yes I do: it's the Monday rib tip special). If they were smart, they'd open a drive thru window so customers wouldn't have to see the inside at all! The inside seating area is littered with storage and the tables don't appear to be cleaned with any regularity. At my last visit, one of the Lewis clan was seated at a table playing some Candy Crush-like game on his phone, with the sound on and everything! I'm standing there like, "what grown ass man plays a game like that... IN PUBLIC??? Especially when your establishment is in such disrepair?" Why give it TWO stars, you ask? Because sometimes the rib tip special is actually worth the $5.99... SOMETIMES. When they're good, they're good, but when they're not, all I can say is to keep your receipt! And the bathroom makes you want to do an immediate about face, until you realize it doesn't smell as bad as it looks. Has it really been 2 decades since I last had Kenny's rib tips. I remember as a kid visiting my aunt and uncle in South Holland. They would order us Kenny's Ribs all the time. Growing up I thought it was the coolest thing in the world to get 2 slices of bread with your meal. Well today ends the couple of decade bbq draught. My friend had the pop corn chicken I had to have a taste it was the best pop corn chicken I had ever had!!! I got some fried Catfish and a half slab! The Catfish was Really good there wasn't to much breading just the right amount and the Caribenan Jerk sauce was pretty good a little thin but still very good. The Ribs seemed a little dry and the sauce tasted tangy I used the left over sauce for my fries! Overall the food was really good and the service was ok. But sauce was all over both orders. Kenny's has a fantastic dry rub seasoning on their meat which is why sauce is not necessary. This time I can say the tips were not good as I couldn't taste any of those good seasonings. I tried the peach cobbler for the 1st time. For me it was like eating a bowl of sugar - I couldn't even taste the peaches. This business will not refund even if they give you bad food unless you bring back the food, even if you used their delivery service. They always get the orders wrong, always not enough bar-B-Q and this had happened to me twice. I paid a lot too! I asked for chicken breasts and I got a chicken, breast, thigh but, and a wing. I ordered and paid for extra sauce to no avail. When I complained, they said bring the food back (I had it delivered so I didn't have to go out). Never got to speak to the manager either. What can I say about this Kenny's location? I went here for the first time and ordered a mini tip/link combo. The combo was $12.09 including tax. The hot links and mild sauce were good.......... Now as for the rest........The rib tips had a lot of fat on them, and I mean A LOT. They may have been good if it wasn't for so much fat. The bread didn't taste fresh. And there wasn't even a handful of fries in my mini tip/link combo. For $12.09, I expected I would get more fries. I waited over 20 minutes for my food, which I guess is pretty standard if you don't call ahead. The inside of the restaurant could use an overhaul, it's kind of dingy looking. But yeah, the hot links and sauce were good so.....2 stars lol. Maybe 2.5 stars, but there are no half stars, and I wouldn't give them 3 stars. I ordered the all white jerk meal with cabbage and red beans and rice. It wasn't good at all. I don't know how you can mess up cabbage or red beans and rice but it was done not authentic at all! The cabbage lacked flavor and had things like corn, peas, carrots and green beans in it. That is not how I've ever had it made. The red beans and rice was mushy and tasted as if it came from a box. The jerk sauce was disgusting all the way around and they had the nerve to charge $.65 for it. The chicken was alright but it lack the smokiness you normally get with jerk chicken. I ask for the ladies room and the cashier directs me. As I walk towards the restroom there is a young teenage employee prepping the coleslaw. There were several coleslaws on the table without the tops. She's in the phone talking to her friend and NO Mask. Breathing all over the food. I come from the restroom and she's still talking OVER the food no mask. I retrieve my order from the cashier and as I'm walking out there is a roach crawling across the floor. I visited that Kenny's Ribs in Matteson and I would have gave this rating either 3 or 4 stars, The food is very good. I enjoyed the tips and links. However the service was really bad today. They give me a mini tip instead of a mini link. When I took it back and told the lady who took my order, she turn into a nasty ghetto lady. She grab the mini link is said the following with a very nasty look on her face "Oh my God these people" I got my mini link, however it was with an attitude and not a sorry sir. I ordered 1 slab of ribs, 24 wings and large turkey tips (I wanted to try the jerk turkey tips but they were out). I arrived at Sunday dinner and noticed the ribs were missing! I had to go back to Kenny's to pick up (my mother's) missing ribs. I spent $85 and the food was edible but not good at all. The coleslaw was salty, the wings were not seasoned, the ribs were tough and the turkey tips were tough and full of bones (I have never had bones in turkey tips). When you order rib tips, you don't expect small slivers of pork which are about 60 percent fat. That is what you'll get at this location. The rib tips are cut so small it is ridiculous... the hot links are over cooked. My order, small tip and link combo, was very disappointing and swimming in more grease than mild sauce. The fries are old, probably cooked early and reheated. The staff is unorganized... even though you have a receipt with a number on it they will continually ask what you ordered while you are waiting.
