We've done business with Ken's Asphalt since 2016 when he put in new asphalt and then did subsequent sealings/slurries over the years. We continued to use him as we were satisfied with the workmanship. However, this last time I wanted to pay the balance by credit card. Ken ridiculously told me that it wasn't his responsibility to have informed me ahead of time that his payment terms were cash or check only. The conversation went downhill from there with other comments I considered very unprofessional. He lost our future business. Be forewarned if you want to pay with a credit card. NO ONE has EVER wanted to pay him by credit card in ALL his years of doing business (except now me of course). read more

Bid price was somewhat higher than others, but Ken expressed understanding of some of the subtleties of the job that others did not communicate or perhaps did not comprehend. Kens crew just finished seal coating our driveway and I am so pleased with the way it turned out. It'd beautiful. I've had it done 3 times with 2 other people over the last 19 yrs. and it's never looked close to this nice. It was a lot cheaper but I got a cheap job. These guys weren't in a hurry to get in and out of here. They took their time. They did several steps to get it ready to coat and a final coat. I hired Kens asphalt to install about 180 feet of driveway over base material. It has a moderate grade if about 10. -15%. Also hired them to grade, bring in base and pack down another couple hundred feet of roadway. Ken also paved my neighbors driveway the prior year. Scheduling was about 4 weeks out and his crew should up on time and ready to work on a very hot couple of days 100F. Carlos knew exactly what to do and brought in heavy equipment and trained staff. 3 rollers, asphalt machine, several large gravel trucks, large tractor and compactors. There were up to 7 people working the project for 2 full days. They asphalt came out very nice and blended perfectly into the street, house walkway and carport areas. His crew was very professional and courteous. Pricing is fair, I guess. I did not get competitive bids. As most know the cost of construction, materials and labor has gone up lately. We recently had a hill portion of our driveway replaced with Ken's Asphalt. It was about 270' long. Ken was personable and showed up the next day after calling his office for a bid. That was impressive right from the start. Although it took a couple months to schedule the job, that didn't bother us in the least as we could have time to prepare. The crew showed up exactly on the date scheduled at 7am and got right to work. They even brought in some equipment a couple days early so they'd be ready to go. They tore up the 30 yr old asphalt, scraped the driveway and hauled off the old stuff. As the first day went on, other crew members arrived to continue the work. Next came laying down the several inches of base rock, smoothing it, watering it down then rolling it all out to make for a solid base for the asphalt. The 2nd day was the spreading of the asphalt. The entire crew knew exactly what job they had, and no one was standing around watching the next guy do his job. The crew was extremely professional and kept us informed as to what they were doing as they went along. I can honestly say in working with many contractors in my career as a real estate Broker, these guys did an excellent job! If you are considering having some repaving done, I wouldn't hesitate at all to give Ken's Asphalt a call and have them come out to see your job. We were so impressed with their workmanship, we're even going to have them come back and roll out some more base rock for us. When we drive up the hill on our driveway now it's a real pleasure! Greeley Hill/Coulterville I called Ken's Office I was told she would let Ken know. That I would be called the next day. He did call but I wasn't home. I called him right back, and he came to see the job that day. He gave me a quote and an approximate date. He explained how long it would take. It was perfect! I really wanted this done. I had called and emailed other companies. I waited a year None of them replied. I had a large area to cover, a parking area and a long down hill driveway. It was a bit expensive, but I was getting cement not asphalt. The first three days were prepping the rock hard ground. This group of three guys were excellent. They explained everything they were doing and why, and answered all my questions. I also had a rain water drainage problem. They explained how they would direct the water to fix my problem. It works! There were two days for the cement. It came with a huge gang of workers and two trucks of cement. I would hire Ken's Asphalt again. They did an excellent job. We needed our current driveway resealed, and also extended by about 12 feet. We contacted three separate companies for bids. Adam, from Ken's asphalt, was the only one who 1. showed up on time, 2. seemed to really want to do the work, 3. was concerned about our wants and wishes for our driveway, 4. returned our phone calls in a timely manner. Adam is also on the job along with his crew. This company is busy and for good reason. The team does excellent work, are courteous, punctual (even early), and they are thorough. These guys had to work during the Ferguson fire smoke-filled days, in temperatures reaching high 90s. They amazed us with their work ethic and stamina. My husband and I are getting older and our driveway is difficult to walk and drive on. I saw an ad in the paper for Kens asphalt , licensed contractor and called for an estimate. He had an bad attitude when I talked to him on the phone but thought , what the heck have him give us a bid on our driveway. He came over promptly and said it would cost 15K to pave and he would be here in 11/2 weeks if we put a 1K deposit down. He was VERY anxious to make the deal. Now 2 months later after canceling 3 times he gave us the deposit back. I just wanted my driveway done. He made up every excuse he could think of to do another job and picked up other big jobs along the way and not ours. He brought 2 thugs with him and my husband calmly discussed the fact that he broken the contract. Ken had my husband sign that he received the deposit back. My husband did not get a receipt or copy papers he signed. Ken tried very hard to cancel the contracting by even saying 2 weeks ago he under bid the job. Ken's Asphalt have done 3 jobs for me so far and I've been meaning to share my experience. They have resealed my driveway and it looks great. I underwent competitive bidding for this job and they came in right in the middle of the pack and did a great job even filling in some holes and indentures that were cause by time and weather. The second job they did was filling in a sink hole caused by rain and erosion over the last 10 year. The team worked fast, efficiently and communicated well during this project. the new "rock river" looks great and I trust that the water diversion efforts will work once we get some rain. Ken's team was aslo helpful in providing additional suggestions for keeping water (when we get some) from rushing through the property. The last project they did was reinforcing other walls and building another rock wall in anticipation of the rain. In total I think they poured over 30 ton of rock hand placing most of it. Overall I"m quite pleased particularly knowing that Ken personally backs up his work and if something looks wrong they will come back and fix it.. Hopefully I don't have to call them again for a while but I'm glad I chose them for this job because they care and the listen. read more

We have a long asphalt drive which was cracking and fallen apart significantly in three places. Ken came out and gave an estimate for patching the broken part, filling the cracks, and then sealing it with two coats of sealant. The estimate was a little higher than I hoped, but I had nothing to base it on. He did the work while I was away when he said he would and on inspection the work was first rate and the drive looks fantastic.
