I wonder if they are under new management? 6 years ago reviews we bad I saw some good ones so I decided to give them a call. Requested a code read and said I would pay for the diagnostic hour I just don't have that tool. The person on the phone said he's not here to educate people, your drop the boat off I fix it that's all. So I questioned if I was at fault until I called 2 other shops who agreed to do it the first didn't have the tool so he referred me to harden marina in Lorton have my appointment tomorrow after no problems there. Ken's Marine has always done an outstanding job maintaining my Bayliner boats. I have two - a 20 ft bowrider and a Ciera 2855 with a 454 duoprop. Their workmanship is always first rate and they look beyond my main request to see if any other repairs ought to be considered. They are good, that's why they are busy. I always give them adequate time to perform the requested maintenance (they always have work in queue) and they have never let me down. We were recommened by local people from Lake Anna to check this company out for our boat needs. We had two boats with motor problems and weren't able to find anyone local that would work on our boats. We have an inboard and outboard motor and they worked on both! They were able to fix both boat and they were really fast with the repairs. Older inboard motors most people do not want to work on them but we were very lucky to find these guys. I wish a zero was a possible rating. This dude is something else. He keeps boats for months on end, doesn't return calls, charges outrageous prices and to top it off, when you call him out on it, he gets pissed and nasty to you, the customer. Call us stupid for using him multiple times but this last one was a last straw. He also is highly dishonest. He tells my husband one thing, and when confronted, he swears he never said such a thing. We think the owner may have a problem. Do not use this guy. There are enough honest and dependable family operated shops I will go to next time. Oh and also my boat still has the same problem then it did when we dropped it off. He told us maybe it's time to get a new boat... wish he told us that before charging 1200$ for nothing. read more

they fixed a cooling problem in my yamaha that was plaguing my boat for 3 years. I had 2x mechanics switch out parts and charge me a good amount. I've been going to Ken's for the past 10 years just to pick up items to do my own work and recently needed actual work on my Bayliner 3.0 mercruiser. All other places said they were backed up and couldn't get to me for 4 weeks. Ken was extremely responsive and fixed my boat within days. beware!!! Most dishonest, condisendant, argumentative person we have ever met!! We had him replace a new drop in motor in our boat which cost us 6800 $ and he charged 6,000 to drop it than charged us for unauthorized work that didn't need to be done!!! After all was said and done we had a fast go boat that went 45 at full speed, when we asked he test drive it with us...5 miles away he refused!!! Avoid going here at all costs. Had one brake replaced on my bass boat trailer in December for $450. By March, the pad had worn down to nothing. I took it back in to the shop and they tried blaming multiple things on the brake failing then locked up my other brake with their tests. They then claimed the other brake that they recommended to be changed was the cause of the failing brake and began to make smart comments about me not replacing both in December. The shop owner at one point said I was safe to drive home and that I wasn't going to take up his shop space since I did not have a cover at the time. After finally agreeing to leave the boat, he ordered me to fix the other brake this time and he would cover the repair of the old one. I agreed and went on my way. However, when he called to tell me the Boat was done, this time he bumped the price up for the same work by $100. When I questioned it he grew upset and started to yell at me on the phone, accuse me of pointing the figure at him, and simply said, "prices went up for you". So, at this point I was about $1,000 in for new brakes on my trailer. Only this time he says, "By the way, cash only this time". I paid with credit card in Dec., so I obviously questioned this as well. He grew even more upset and disrespectful and said I should be thanking him. He said I was a disgruntled customer and refused to let me pay with a card. So, besides the owner being a bully, he basically called his own price and made me pay cash, which was all because he was upset. He let his emotions get in the way of business ethics. If you are ever forced to go here, just hope you deal with his wife or the mechanic because the owner has no respect for his customers. read more
