Communication was lacking and unprofessional from the beginning. He only communicated via text and didn't offer many important details until I asked about them. I reached out to my coworker who had recommended him because I was uneasy about the lack of professionalism, but she said he was the same way with her and her move went well. The day of the move I never heard from him so I texted at 2:30pm requesting an update. He responded rudely, saying he hadn't reached out since it wasn't yet 3pm, as though leaving me in the dark for the entire day was acceptable as long as the 5 hour time frame quoted wasn't over. He said his team had a flat tire but they would be arriving soon. He said he would join them and they would get the move done in 30 minutes. They didn't show up until after 4pm, by which time it had started raining. During the move they left my things on the sidewalk as they organized the truck, resulting in my furniture getting wet. They moved it into my new apartment wet and I had to wipe it all down myself. During the move they didn't wrap my mattress and got it dirty and I still haven't been able to get the stains out. The whole move ended up taking 1.5 hours, which was much longer than the 30 minutes promised. Because of the longer amount of time, as well as the extra movers that showed up part way through the move that I hadn't expected, the move cost much more than planned. We had planned on 2 movers for 1 hour but that wasn't what transpired. And after all of that, while I was unpacking in the coming days, I found broken things in 3 different crates. I used crates in lieu of boxes because they are sturdier than boxes (luckily I did because the boxes would have gotten pretty wet in the rain) and the fragile items were safely packed and labeled as such in bold letters, but clearly the movers paid no attention. It certainly was a very poor moving experience and cost way more than anticipated for such a low quality experience. I hired Ken based on a coworker's recommendation who had moved the month before. However her move was much larger and a much further distance than mine, so I can only assume that he didn't value my smaller move which is why the move went so poorly. I was extremely disappointed and felt as though I greatly overpaid for a very subpar move. It ended up costing me 1.5 times as much as it was supposed to originally and I spent my whole day waiting for them to finally show up and get the move done. I definitely would not hire them again, nor would I recommend them to anyone. read more

Furniture was not wrapped and items damaged. I supplied wrap and it ws not even utilized. He piled my stuff Iike it was a game of Jenga. I was charged 175.00/hr, nearly 1200.00, for him to damage my personal possessions and store them improperly. He did nothing to prevent damage. Boxes were attacked on top of things they should have been so I had some broken glass. Papers were falling out of boxes and some of my stirage containers were cracked from being either stepped on or dropped. There was room much damage to document. I made attempts to contact him before postijg my review and he just ignored the call and text messages I sent. To me, that is a sign of guilt. He is not an honorable person. read more

DO NOT USE Ken's Pack and Move Service. If I could give this a ZERO star I would. Throughout this whole interaction, I remained professional and obviously, Ken or whoever this is, does not know how. I HAVE ATTACHED SCREENSHOTS from the beginning of our interaction to the very last, minus me telling him I'm leaving a google review. I had submit a request for a quote on Wednesday. On Thursday I received a text message. There was no official greeting, and there wasn't a walk-through of the process, whereas it is a moving service, what type of property I am moving from, the square foot, bedroom, etc. The usual questions a moving service provides for an estimate. He informed me I wouldn't receive paperwork until the DAY OF my move. Red flag. I felt unsettled, so since I don't have any official paperwork, I kept looking around. I found a different moving company, and since I had, I felt the professional thing to do was to inform him I found another mover. I had a small move to do with little advance notice. Ken responded immediately and completed the work efficiently and at a far price. A few months later I had a much larger move, and again I called Ken. He managed the move masterfully! The staff were terrific and much more careful and protective of my belongings than I would have been. Oh, and as I drove from one place to another my car thermometer placed the temperature at 101 degrees - but you would never know it as these guys worked like crazy. Due to nobody's fault but our own, we needed to book helpers to unload our 26' moving truck less than a week in advance. Ken was able to accommodate, and on time, James and David arrived to go about doing the hard work of unloading on a humid day. They BUSTED THEIR TAILS to unload quickly. At one point my wife made them stop and drink some water. She was afraid they'd pass out. Price was good and the workers were phenomenal. Hired Ken's Pack & Move from Craigslist and had them move a bedroom set of furniture, a mini-fridge and a 3-seater couch from a rental house in Chapel Hill to my house in Raleigh. They arrived to the Chapel Hill place on Sunday morning (their flexibility was great, as Sunday was as late as I could leave things at the property), packed it up, loaded it on the truck, drove to Raleigh, unpacked it and unloaded it all within 2 hours. First, I was able to schedule my move for the specific date I had in mind, which, considering it was scheduled only 10 days in advance, was amazing. The team showed up within the scheduled window with 4 people instead of 3, which helped a lot. Everyone worked really hard for over 8 hours as I had a lot of stuff and also had a second stop. My husband saw Ken and Co. moving one of our neighbors and noticed they did an excellent job. We got his business card that night and then called him to make a reservation. On our moving day, we found them capable and friendly. They took care of our treasures quickly and efficiently and honored the rate quoted. Nothing was damaged. We ABSOLUTELY got professional treatment. I gave them 4 out of 5 stars, only because I think some people would prefer a more "corporate" experience. These guys are running a small business, so they handle their own booking and you'll have to send them a text with your info after talking to them on the phone. Some people don't appreciate this type of "Mom and Pop" service but we like to honor small businesses whenever we can. I called 2 days before our move to confirm and they had our booking set up. This review is a bit longer than I'd prefer, but I'm cool with that. I have plenty of time this afternoon (thanks to Ken and his crew) and - as a small business owner myself - I know that word-of-mouth can be one of the most powerful ways to compensate any business. To make a long story short (I'll spare the details), I found myself at 1:00 pm on a Saturday afternoon overwhelmed at the prospect of spending the rest of my day trying to pack and move all of my crap from one apartment to another, after spending about 6 hours on Friday doing so, only to take care of about half of my stuff (just me and a tiny car). Since I value my time, I figured I'd call around to see if anybody would be available last minute to help out. Ken's was highly rated online so I decided, "What the hell? Let's give it a shot." I could not be happier with this decision. Ken was super friendly and helpful on the phone, and his crew arrived within about 30 min. Holy crap. The move itself was fast, too. The whole thing was done in probably 1.5 hrs., and I could not be MORE pleased with their work. The crew was friendly, cheerful, helpful, and (as mentioned before) fast. I contacted Ken's Pack and Move after 10:00 p.m. last night to help me out of a bind when some high school kids who were supposed to help me backed out. He had a young man, Travis, come by at 11:00 a.m.the next morning and he moved over 50 boxes from our garage to an upstairs loft area. Almost all the boxes contained books and were heavy. Travis completed the work in just a little over an hour and worked nonstop. I was more than impressed. Ken, the owner, provided this last minute service at an extremely fair price. I found Ken's on CraigsList, along with a few other movers, due to wanting to move out of our storage unit. They were about mid-priced in the group of five bidders, but offered a 'no hidden fee' quote. They were on time with a new truck that has the appropriate moving industry equipment. They reviewed the move in plan with me, and inquired about the old antique furniture that were part of the move. They carefully secured the furniture, and smaller items in the truck, and moved all of my furniture and boxes to the apartment. Once there, we measured the furniture and doorway, then moved all the heavy antique furniture into the apartment without hitting anything. They took extra care to ensure that old, fragile furniture did not get damaged along the way. Throughout the whole experience they were helpful and courteous; they even participated in moving furniture already in the apartment to accommodate the new additions. Ken and his colleague are easy to get along with: I liked the no stress logistics, and light atmosphere. While only two guys that MAYBE weigh 300 lbs between the two of them, they did not bump or drop anything, were careful, and wrapped the furniture just like Atlas Van lines, a company I paid $4,000+ to move from Long Island a few years ago. My mom used them to move yesterday. They charged her for things that were never mentioned in the estimate. The estimate said $175 for travel, but they charged her for the hours traveled as well. She paid about $400 more than she should have. I was skeptical about finding a mover via Craigslist, but other options were quoting me for prices in the thousands and my move was not that extravagant. I called Ken the morning of the move and he made sure I had what I needed and sent an extra truck just in case we needed it along with his two men. I used Ken's Pack and Move for a recent move from Cary to Apex. When I called just over a week ahead to confirm the moving appointment I got a small amount of run around, but did hear back a few days later with a confirmation of my move date and time. I was even texted the night before as a reminder and with an offer to have the movers come earlier if we were available. There were two pick up locations and one drop off location. We had already moved the majority of our boxes, they mostly just had furniture. Bobby, Travis, and Rashad wrapped things in blankets and plastic wrap and packed our furniture carefully onto their truck.They really did a great job. We do have a few scratches on the walls. That combined with the confusing attempt to confirm my move date is why they get 4 stars instead of 5. Overall they worked hard and I would consider them again for a future move. read more

The guy in charge actually left while I was outside my house to go inside and help himself to our microwave to pop a bag of popcorn, which I later found thrown down in the yard, with his water bottle, and his cookie wrapper. They moved slow on every piece they moved, I guess that's one way to stretch your hourly rate, and complained when they assumed I couldn't hear them (my wife was in the next room). This was a last minute move for me, my moving help backed out last minute so I emailed Ken's the night before and got an email early the next day that they could fit me in. Melanie, the office manager was extremely helpful and kind when I called her at 8am the day of the move and said that the guys would be here at 4pm. I am sitting on my front steps waiting and it is now 11:47pm. I have to be out of this apartment today (of which there are now 12 minutes left). I waited and at 5pm texted Melanie to find out what was going on. She said their previous move was much bigger than anticipated and that it would between 6 and 7. No problem, understandable that things would be hectic on the last day of the month. Moved all of my boxes over to the new apartment and texted Ken to get an eta and let him know to text when close so I could rush back. His response was "who is this?" I replied that I had talked to Melanie and I was his afternoon move. No response. I get back at 7 and get a text from Melanie saying "hi Lauren we are running behind but will definitely be there" my name is Kirstin. She calls me at 7:45 to tell me that there was someone else before me but her husband was going to get a cab, grab a truck and that he would be here within the hour and I would get a discount for them being so late. I'm getting pretty stressed out at this point and text her again and she promises they are on the way. At 9:30 I'm getting really worried and text and call both Ken and Melanie. Both of their phones are off so I leave messages in tears at this point. I desperately offer to pay extra if they can please get here. 20 minutes later Ken texts me back saying he'll be here. I replied thank you and he responded "just have me a big tip". I could not believe it. I really needed him to come so responded simply thank you. I texted him at 10:30 and asked for an eta. He said that it would be another hour but he'd be here. It is now AFTER midnight and he's nowhere to be seen. He texted at 11:20 saying it would be 20 minutes. I have to work early in the morning and live in a residential neighborhood. Moving at midnight is unacceptable! THE WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE EVER. DO NOT USE KENS!!!! They were EIGHT HOURS LATE and forced me to move in the middle of the night... That's if they show... Still not here...UPDATE: it is now 12:29AM and Ken just texted he is 14 minutes away... Fingers crossed!!! UPDATE: Ok. Probably was the fastest move ever. They arrived at 1 and we were done by 1:30. The guys were nice and efficient and kept quiet. I know they didn't want to be doing this at this time as much as I didn't but I don't understand why you would commit to something if you couldn't fit me in. 7pm, 8pm I would've understood but this was extreme. There was no apology and at the end of the day I felt like I was being bumped due to being so understanding. Here's to a fun early morning tomorrow! read more

Ken's pack and move was quick and painless. The only complaint I can make is that they told me they had a 'time slot' between 8 and 10. In any other business I have worked in, for, or with, a "slot" means that we will perform the work within this time. The team didn't arrive until 1015, but when they arrived they immediately took inventory and got to work. I was only moving my stuff into storage and when we arrived at the storage facility I left for 15 minutes to get some water, by the time I came back they were pulling out of the facility and had locked up everything. I went and checked and everything was neatly loaded in my storage unit in less than half an hour! If you are moving quickly and need help, these are the guys to call. read more

Amazing experience! Simply top notch from start to finish! First it took Ken literally 5 minutes to call me after I requested a quote at 9:30pm. He came back with a great quote, and after discussing my situation and the amount of flexibility I'd need, I felt very comfortable. Then I had Keith and Bobby, a 2 man crew, help me with getting 2 28ft trailers emptied. The trailers didn't arrive until 6:30pm. These guys worked their tails off! Running half the time! Everything was off the trailer and in the right places within 7 hours. For that amount of stuff, and a 3 story place, they blew me away.
