Call other places- need my car tow- at first it is missing one 1rim & 1tire- the lady said it will require equipment and told us $150 - we were able to get a wheel and tire on- the guy just use a block underneath the car, took him less than than 30sec- she couldn't go down the price and charge us double. Very Rude Told had to pay before I can retrieve personal effects from my car. Needed to have my insurance agent call Ken's and straighten them out. Upon arrival at the wrecking yard again met with a very rude person who was quickly replaced by an accommodating employee. First contact very disappointing. Last week I made an appointment to get my car towed to the dealership. They said all good, agreed to get my car in at the designated time. Today, late afternoon, they call to tell me, "too bad, we can't make the time we agreed to, but we can get it in later." I have an appointment with the dealership at a designated time. This appointment took me one month to get in place. Now I am stuck, unable to get my car in at the appointed time because this laughable business called to cancel on me with less than 24 hours to find a suitable replacement. How is it businesses can change their appointments on us with no repercussions, but if I were to make this cancellation now, I would get stuck paying a bill? I will not be using these guys. I used to think they were pretty cool cos of their pink trucks, and said if I needed a tow, I would use them. First time I try they pull this crap. Never again. I was in a serious rear end collision accident. My car was towed by Ken's. I called Ken's from my hospital bed asking if my neighbor could stop by to retrieve my eyeglasses and medication's from the car. I was told that it would not be allowed unless I had an approval from my insurance company Or unless the total was paid in full. Of course all of this was a lie, they only wanted to be paid, my items were being held for ransom even though my insurance called them and assured them that they would be paid. I was advised a tow truck would arrive within 30 minutes. After arriving on time driver was friendly and polite. Big shoutout to Ken's Towing, the dispatchers and Scotty (the driver)! I've only lived on island for three years, so I consulted Yelp for help finding a tow after my Puna Hooptie broke down at Cost-U-Less. The dispatchers were friendly and efficient. Scotty arrived within about 15 minutes, just like the dispatchers estimated. Scotty got me home before my frozen foods thawed and even took a little extra time to get my Puna Hooptie backed into my carport so that I would be out of the rain while fixing it. Scotty and I talked story during the tow. He is a super nice and funny guy! We talked about hunting and fishing in Alaska and Hawaii... how our parents and grandparents did it... how they would cook the meals, etc.. It was really cool to listen to his stories and learning more about the local culture! Thank you guys very much! My son and daughter were in an accident 2 weeks ago and HPD had our car was towed to their lot. Our insurance took care of the tow and was in the process of being claimed a total loss. We finally were able to go and retrieve our belongings. My husband was allowed on the lot and accessed the car. The first thing he noticed was his basketball pump that was left in the trunk sitting on top of it. He opens the trunk and it's EMPTY! The speaker was gone! He goes into front seat to get our sons shoes and the sees that the dashboard was taken apart and the deck and bluetooth adapter was gone. He went into the backseat for other belongings he checks for the amplifier which was under the backside of the driver seat... that was gone too! He asks the guy that let him on the lot where it is.The guy replies "must be young kids jumping the fence and stealing stuff." I call it total bullshit! With amount of space between our car and the backhoe it was backed up against would have prevented anyone from removing the speaker due to the size of the box it was installed in. I'm assuming it's an inside job and it must have been taken before the car moved to that location on the lot. And whoever took our things knew exactly what tools they needed to take off the wiring. We were moving back to the mainland and needed to load a toolbox and a motorcycle into the container. We had used Kona Container/Car Guy-a McCain Co brand (808)649-0891 for everything. They had Ken's come out to load our stuff. I couldn't have been better served. They showed up when they said they would. Their truck wasn't in bad shape and the truck bed was in good shape. Our driver, Richard, was extremely professional! He had our stuff in the container in no time at all. If you are ever I need of a tow, I would strongly suggest Ken's. I missed their call and when I called back the lady seemed snappy and was cutting me off a lot while talking. I'm guessing it's because they're busy. I had a schedule for towing a vehicle with kens, and they cancelled last minute after I already was across the island expecting them. Very unprofessional business. They cancelled because they said there was more business elsewhere, even after a firm schedule. Too many other good tow companies to use this unprofessional place. They also treated me badly because I am white, and not local like them. So if you call, sound stupid and don't expect them to do what they say. read more
