Have a Kia Vehicle that had a recall. We bought from KIA Hilo. We took to Kona KIA, as Hilo KIA has always treated us like an enemy. Now Corporate KIA is saying they can't repair my vehicle because the part is no longer available. (I believe it is more the cost of the repair, because the Blue Book Value is Less than the repair cost). We were not informed of the recall, and it was only after the recall parts failed that we found out about the recall. Kia originally said they would fix it, then a month later KIA said they can't fix the recall because the parts are no longer manufactured. "My suggestion is", So why not take what is needed from another totaled vehicle, or broken vehicle that has worse issues? Now KIA Corporate is saying they want to buy the vehicle back, because the parts are no longer available. The vehicle has very low mileage, new tires, new fuel pump, and No Rust, No transmission issues, No other mechanical problems. ( motor was rebuilt @ 56k by Kia after a prior defect). We kept this vehicle in Top shape. Regular service was always done, no rust, and it has very low mileage. Paint job scheduled, Interior is immaculate, new tires, fuel pump, and everything else works except the recalled parts. Very upset as we cannot replace this vehicle with what little money they are offering to buy it for. Can't find another vehicle to replace this vehicle, and not able to finance another vehicle to replace it. Cant buy another used vehicle that we have no idea how it may have been driven, and can't afford to finance another vehicle at current prices. Cheapest option is over 15 k with 200,000 miles. Not sure I will ever buy from KIA ever again. Sadly they do not recognize the value of our vehicle, and the Blue Book Value doesn't cover the loss, the inconvenience, or the fact that their Defective equipment has been the cause of this incident. I purchased a used 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport from Aloha Kia Hilo on July 10, 2025 for $13,011.04. Within days of driving it, I discovered mechanical problems that appeared to exist before the sale. A later inspection confirmed an internal oil leak and a CARFAX report showed the spark plugs were replaced five days before the sale, suggesting the issue was known. I later found that my Buyer's Order was not marked "AS IS", meaning the sale paperwork didn't meet the required disclosure standards. On top of that, the title and permanent registration were still not issued more than 60 days after the sale. After multiple written attempts to resolve this directly with management, I filed official complaints with: * The Hawaiʻi Office of Consumer Protection (OCP) * The DCCA Professional & Vocational Licensing Division (Motor Vehicle Industry Board) * The Better Business Bureau of Hawaiʻi (BBB) * And notified the Hawaiʻi County DMV Title Office If you're in a similar situation, here's what helped me (sharing for awareness, not legal advice): 1. Document everything -- buyer's order, CARFAX, inspection, payment, communications. 2. File a complaint with Hawaii Office of Consumer Protection (OCP). 3. Forward your case to the DCCA Motor Vehicle Industry Licensing Board. 4. Contact the County DMV if you haven't received your title after 60 days. 5. Keep all responses in writing. As a veteran, integrity and transparency are values I hold in the highest regard--both personally and in the businesses I choose to support. Unfortunately, my experience with Aloha Kia Hilo has been deeply disappointing and frustrating on multiple levels. After purchasing a vehicle from them, I experienced a complete transmission failure just 2.5 months later. There is absolutely no reason a transmission should fail that quickly, especially when you're told the vehicle is in good condition. I spent countless hours waiting for calls to be returned, and in many cases, those calls never came. Some of the worst service we have ever experienced! My father in law, a kapuna, purchased a car from Aloha Kia and it had issue after issue. Every time we took it in they said they couldn't find anything wrong and charged us $250 for diagnostics. Finally on the 4th time of taking it in for the same issue, the engine smoking, they found a faulty valve that had to be changed, and charged us another $100. We asked for a printout of the past service dates and the work completed in the past and the guy said that was not his job and to do it our selves on Carfax because he was "busy". And this was after he talked to another guy in the office about the abilities of AI for 20 mins. NEVER buying a Kia from them again. read more

After wasting more than two weeks trying to buy a Chevrolet Equinox EV from DeLuz Chevrolet in Hilo, I gave up in anger and frustration and went to check out the Aloha Kia website. The web site message lady Erica said she'd put me in touch with a sales person and shortly after that Frank Mcgregor called. In ten minutes we came to an agreement for me to buy an EV6 they had in stock. A week or so later I took possession of it, spent 15 minutes on the phone with the sales manager Philip Hodges coming to an agreement for the trade-in. I should have gone to Aloha Kia to begin with. I assume they're pleased and I am certainly pleased with how smoothly it all went. A tip for those selling a used car or with a trade-in. Go check out the prices on both Kelly Blue Book and also with Edmunds. Kelly Blue Book is perhaps more realistic in showing what you're likely to get while Edmunds is more generous for the car owner. And, if wanting an EV, buy one (just make a healthy down payment) before the end of September 2025 to get the tax credit. I recommend Aloha Kia and would happily buy from them again. read more

I should have checked Kelly Blue Book before I listened to the dealership. The price of the 2022 KIA Niro is worth $17-$20k and it was sold to me at the 'lowest value' of $26k. It is my fault and I was naive to not check the actual price of the car, but I trusted the people who told me to trust them. The sales manager even did the biggest trick in the book of telling me "I'll drop the interest point down by 1% to help you out". There was a slight glitch when restoring the power to the vehicle in which it was possible that I might not have been able to get my car back the same day, but was handled very professionally by the staff, including providing a temp. vehicle if necessary, which turned out to be not necessary. Our first service in October 2022 was a 5K service and we just had our next 5K service and the recommended transmission fluid exchange this month (April 2023). Both times Tyler & his Crew did an exceptional job. You will not find this type of great Customer Service anywhere else on the island. This story isn't just about getting ripped off, it's about BLATANT EXPLOITATION OF A VERY VULNERABLE PERSON. I'm the caretaker of a 78 year old woman with dementia. I also have Limited Power of Attorney to represent her with Aloha Kia and in litigation with them. I'll call her Sherry here. On 3/31/2022 she went to Aloha Kia Hilo and bought a 2015 Kia Sedona Lx. She paid $25,154.10, way higher than the value in Kelly Blue Book. This included a $3,395.00 Platinum Extended Service Agreement. I went with her to pick up the car over 2 months later (they said it would be two weeks). I asked Sherry what she got for her Platinum Warranty. She said she had no idea and was not given a copy of the warranty. She asked the salesman to get her copy of the agreement. He said in front of me, "Oh, you don't get a copy". My eyes widened and I insisted she does. Hours of waiting later she was handed an unsigned "Mechanical Failure Service Contract". Above the signature line, it read, "By my signature below, I certify that I have read, fully understand, and agree to be bound by all pages of this contract..." Sherry had not read and certainly didn't understand. Weeks later I realized THERE WAS NO SIGNATURE on the warranty After an over 4 hour wait, we drove the car home. Two days later we notice the glove box is broken, a seat belt is broken and the key fob is broken. She took it in for repairs and was charged $548.69 total. Licensed dealers are bound to have inspected cars for safety concerns. They sold a car with a safety defect, it's their responsibility to correct it. An invoice also included $45.00 charged to fix a RECALL REGARDING A TURN SIGNAL ISSUE IN WHICH WHEN YOU TURN THE SIGNAL TO THE RIGHT, THE LEFT ONE COMES ON, AND VICE VERSA. Charging for fixing a safety recall issue?? The car never worked reliably. Within weeks, Sherry hated the car, started to realize she'd been exploited, and really went down into despair. She lost weight, sleep and a lot of money. Meanwhile the car was having issues. The battery would not hold a charge. She took it to KIA several times and they repeatedly insisted she was absent mindedly leaving "something" on and there was nothing wrong. Caleb at KIA went over the car for several hours and found nothing left on. Sherry's neighbor (not KIA) found a small toggle switch under the dashboard on that may have been the culprit. By then Sherry bought a solar battery charger and left it on, so we never ascertained if the problem was fixed. Since May, she returned to the dealer at least twice very tearfully, begging them to pay her pennies on the dollar to take the car back. They harshly told her to go away and it's not their problem. In June I was seeing the toll this was having on Sherry. A neighbor of hers is an experienced car mechanic and he called this vehicle a "lemon". It was in August that I collected every invoice, every piece of paperwork regarding this transaction and went over it more carefully. The Vehicle Buyer's Order was UNSIGNED. The second page reads, "This agreement is not binding upon either Seller or Buyer until signed by an authorized Seller representative". IT IS NOT SIGNED BY BUYER OR SELLER. She had purchased a car there in 2018. I looked at that paperwork and she was given a legitimate copy of her signed Vehicle Buyers Order. Why not now? On 9/12/22, I got into the car and put the key in the ignition and it was dead. For some reason, this triggered the car alarm. The button on the key fob had no effect on the alarm. It happened again and again. The fifth time I tried, it started. I drove to Aloha Kia and spoke with the General Manager Stephen Kobza... again. This man tried to obfuscate the situation and could not talk to me about there being zero signatures on any document. He mumbled about "Corporate" and that this was over his head. Two weeks before I had hand delivered a letter to him outlining the exploitation and giving him the option of refunding every cent to Sherry or face litigation. I'd consulted my attorney and was told my case was solid. Mr. Kobsa said he's bound by "corporate" and that he could "let her out of her agreement" with the charge of $20 per day and/or (I don't remember) .20 per mile. She's had possession of the car over 5 months. She'd tried to give it back for pennies on the dollar within 3 months numerous times. She had a friend try and sell it online. Now they say it's only fair that she should pay for the "privilege" of having access to this beast for 5 months. I'll take that offer to help Sherry turn the page on this nightmare. She's been exploited and has learned her lesson. It would appear Stephen Kobza has not. Exploiting vulnerable people makes me sick, sad and infuriated. We drove into Aloha Kia on a random day, we were approached by a salesman who was friendly, kind and very approachable. He said he was waiting for an appointment and would have someone come to show us around. After a few minutes or so he said he would take us around until his appointment came. Long story short, he asked what we were looking for, what our budget was and then took us for a tour. After small talk, he was honest in what realistically numbers would look like. He took us in to the office to look online at other lots. After a few recommendation he took us out to a vehicle that actually caught our eyes as we entered the lot. Within minutes we were test driving that same vehicle. After private conversations within ourselves, we decided to go through and go for it. Trent keeped us updated threw the whole process of it all. At one point he came down with such positive attitude and say with 2 thumbs up "things looking good I going send the truck to the boys in the back, get um serviced and detailed" He made time and had conversations with us as we knew eachother for a long time when really that's the first time we have met. He went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable while waiting for outcome. When going upstairs after approval to finalize paperwork with Phillip, (we called him the banker from deal or no deal)the man upstairsHe was Amazing. He was polite yet straight up, and also went the extra mile to explain paperwork etc. From the moment we got to the lot, appx. 4 hours later, we drove off the lot in a brand new 2021 Toyota Tacoma Fully Loaded Mahalo Trent and Phillip for such amazing customer service. Mahalo for listening to our needs and putting us in a truck that WE wanted. Mahalo Mahalo MAHALO!! Originally I had given this a better review. But after having been put through their process I can quite easily say this place is a scam, at least with used vehicles. During the purchasing process they were so eager to help out and when I showed slight hesitation to purchase a certain vehicle, specifically because it wasn't on island and wanted to look at more vehicles, first response from Philup (sales manager) was that he "understood I couldn't afford the vehicle". Showing they were not only ignoring my reasoning and what I had to say but, secondly show they don't hesitate to guilt/mock customers. The vehicle I wanted was a 2013 chevy equinox advertised at 105k miles that was used as a fleet vehicle which I thought would be in pretty good condition so bought it outright. They had told me it would take 4-6 weeks to transport from Oahu but took them 7 weeks. When it had eventually arrived it had 107k miles on it explaining it was a renter vehicle, the miles were also part of the transportation process, and other blames on the transport company involved (Young brothers). Even the bill of sale and carfax show 105k miles at point of sale. How do you post a vehicle for sale and sell it while it's currently being rented out? And how do you have it drive across the width of the US just to put it on a boat to get it to another island? I would have purchased any warranty but said it was not available for the vehicle. Furthermore, the car had funny noises. After a month a check engine light came on. I needed a safety inspection anyway so took it into them to get the read out. They claimed that my tires were cracked and the battery needed replacement and couldn't pass the vehicle safety test unless I got them replaced. But this wasn't even the check engine light issue. The check engine light came back as an issue with the catalytic converter but they wouldn't bother working on it telling me I had to go to another dealership or mechanic specifically because it wasn't a kia model. To me this just shows laziness and a cash grab at other opportunities for them to hold my car hostage until I got the stuff required to pass the safety inspection. After the battery replacement and tire change the check engine light was off their mechanic explaining to me that unhooking the battery and hooking it back up will turn off the check engine light until it cycles through after awhile. I'm certain they knew it had a check engine problem but did this tactic to make it not show up at point of sale. Taking it to another mechanic they explained I had a bad catalytic converter, oxygen sensors, and a cracked exhaust showing just how much extra they missed over of their own inspection. Total cost of car 8k + 1k transport + 0.5k tire and battery replacement. Total cost of repairs 7k for a total of 16.5k to have a vehicle. I could of just bought new from another dealership or used from a random person on Craigslist with better luck. Once they had sold this vehicle they were also very eager to get this yelp review now here I am editing it after all this has happened. Ryan was the only truly helpful person here who makes sure you are taken care of. They use his kindness by dealing him crap hands like this and is the companies ONLY saving grace. Would invite that dude to a thanksgiving family dinner he's that nice. An S tier employee who deserves better circumstances while the rest of them can rot for all I care. Their company is very polished, complete with customer care surveys every time you have service, and you can really feel that their team is reaching to give you their very best. I'd give a 0, but that isn't an option. I bought my 2016 Kia Rio from this dealership and have exclusively brought it here for all of my maintenance and oil changes and what not. Long story short, I had my Rio towed last week Monday, 4/23. Since then they've given me the run around, haven't called me back, and once they finally gave me an answer and I showed up on Thursday 4/26 to pick up my loaner, I found out somebody went through my car and stole my laptop, Nintendo switch and other things of importance out of my car. First excuse was that I took it with me and that it never was in the car. Second, they blamed the tow truck company. Third, a homeless person must've stolen my things because according the the GM, no one at his company would ever do something like this. And that they've been having a homeless problem lately.He claims that he has the video surveillance and would cooperate and give it to the officer. (I had called the police obviously- something wasn't right). Said he'd get back to the cop ASAP. Since Thursday, KIA hasn't gotten in touch with me about anything- the video surveillance footage OR my car. First three pictures is how I found my car, last pictures are just proof that no one tried to "break in". No scratches on the door, windows- NOTHING. I'm extremely upset, basically because they NEVER keep their word about calling me, or about giving the footage. I got in touch with the police officer in charge of my case and he told me that the GM hasn't gotten back to him either. Today makes day 5. But today, my recruiter from the National Guard calls me and informs me that the manager from Kia called and asked to speak to someone in charge. Claiming that I posted a "racist" post of him and that it needs to be taken down. It wasn't posted by me, just shared. While we understand that it maybe have been a little harsh, The sentence was re-worded, but the original post will NOT be taken down. My recruiter asked if he tried getting in touch with me directly, but he claims that I've been dodging/ignoring his calls. Whatever the case may be? I haven't gotten ANY calls. He can't say I've been ignoring him or whatever, especially since I STILL DON'T HAVE MY CAR. It's funny because he hasn't called me or the police officer but can call the recruiters office. Obviously I didn't drop my car off like this, I'm not a slob. My friend was with me, so if I really "left it there like this" then where would he have been sitting? Everything that is pictured in the front of the car and the backseat was in the trunk. Blaming the tow truck company, me, and now homeless people just goes to show the guilt behind it all. I'm tired of this, and I'll be calling consumer care in the morning since apparently nothing can be done. I wasn't this upset, but trying to drag the National guard into this just goes to show his cooperation in this situation. I was nothing but polite and nice under the circumstances but since they wanna do this to me I'll make sure to find out who took the things from my car. First of all, I want to say that the Kia product line isn't bad. The cars are decent and handle great but are, in my opinion, too expensive when taking into consideration their 5-year value and questionable quality. Although Kia has come a long way since their inception, the quality of their parts are still subpar. They do look good on the road and is a viable option for those looking to own long term with its 10-year warranty. For those looking for a vehicle with a similar feel and options, look to Hyundai. Both Hyundai and Kia are made by the same team although the designed are not worked on at the same time. The parts are interchangeable. In my opinion, Hyundai has more options at lower prices. Both are good though. That said, let's talk about this dealership. If you're willing to overpay, you may like what Kia has to offer. However, if you're looking for a good deal, this place is not it. In fact, if you're looking for a good deal, stay away from Kia completely in Hawaii. The mainland offers better deals for Kia even with shipping. Other brands such as Honda, Toyota, or Mazda in Hawaii have different dealerships competing with each other but all of the Kias in the whole state are under the same owner, so they have no real Kia competition that will drive down prices. You would think that since Aloha Kia has a captive market, they could sell cars the honest way right? They don't. Not in my experience. Plus bad customer relations skills. Aloha Kia as a whole doesn't listen to customers. If you have a trade, do your research first. The general manager, proudly showed me a used car that was newer than mine with less miles and said that he has to pay me less for my trade due to its age. He left out that my car was a specialty model with high local market demand and that, even with its age, would Blackbook more than his car Bluebooks. If you don't know the difference, Blackbook is the auction value and is generally lower that the Bluebook value. He would have stolen my car by at least a grand. During my first negotiation visit, I was introduced to a super pushy finance manager that kept saying that the selling price was final, but oddly enough raised the value of my trade in. Does that make sense? If you offered to give me more for my trade in, why couldn't you lower the sale price instead? Obviously, there was something not right, so I walked out. The sales rep basically begged me to buy a car saying it was for "his kids and family." That's just unethical. They couldn't respect the fact that I wanted to wait a couple of weeks and run numbers. The sales rep sent me a text later saying that the General Manager would give me the numbers I wanted. When I came back, he did he whole song and dance about how my trade wasn't worth much (mentioned above) and broke his promise about the numbers I wanted. I walked out and told him to contact me when he changes his mind. He said he wouldn't contact me. I said thank you. I contacted the Aloha Kia in Oahu and said I was no longer interested and described the Hilo team's deceptive, bait and switch procedures. I told them not to have the Hilo manger contact me but a few days later, I received an email from Hilo's General Manager asking me to come back in. So much for not contacting me. I emailed back with proof that I would receive a better deal from the mainland. The Kia on the mainland offered me a fully loaded version of the same car and, after shipping and taxes, would still cost about the same as the half loaded version from Aloha Kia. Half-loaded vs fully-loaded, which one would you go for? Anyway, these guys are nice as long as you buy at factory MSRP or higher. Any lower than that and they get nasty. We've also had problems with their service department two years ago with our Kia Soul, which we bought from Oahu. Overall, my experience here has been extremely negative. I don't care how much I like the car. Once they lied about my trade-in, broke their promises, used pushy tactics, and started begging, I decided not to do business with any Aloha Kia location ever again. We're taking our Kia to Honda or Hyundai for servicing. read more

This story is going to be a little long. The team at Aloha Kia in Hilo has deserved this review before today but with some other new developments added it makes this review even more important. Often the measure of a company what they do when something goes wrong. We moved here a month ago from the mainland. We sold our cars because one was a 2 seat convertible sports car with a big V8, and the other car wasn't suited for here. The company I work for sent me to Oahu for a week so I thought I would buy a car there since there is more inventory. I don't like buying new cars because the deprecation hit, I have had great luck buying slightly used cars. I went car shopping after a work a few times. My husband would have been better suited for car shopping, I usually pick a car, sign papers and leave. My husband is worried about mileage, blue book, etc. Many of the cars I found online did not look great in person. After some frustrating encounters my husband finally convinced me he found a perfect car in Hilo. I told him there better be no hassle because I was tired of wasting my time at dealerships and driving cars. We arrived at Aloha Kia in Hilo after I came back home. My husband set it up for first thing in the morning. I saw the car, it looked fine, a very low mileage Honda Accord with 30,000 miles, one owner, etc. The experience was flawlessly smooth. I signed all the paperwork, everything was ready like they said it would be. The car was nice and clean and in immaculate condition, everything went great. I drove away in less than a half an hour. The story would end there with Aloha Kia getting 5 stars, but they did more... A week ago we drove over to the other side of the Island. While driving Saddle road we noticed some shaking of the car when you touch the breaks if going fast, as you do on a highway. My husband said the rotors were warped and it happens sometimes, in all cars. It probably had that for a while but you don't drive fast in Hilo so you wouldn't notice it. We thought it was still under warranty because warranties are usually 36,000 miles and a few years, we thought 4 years. It just missed being under warranty by a few months, which we found out while at Honda. My husband said dealerships usually have a little wriggle room if a car is still well under the mileage. He asked the Honda dealership if they would check if it could be taken care of. The guy said no. In the first interactions my husband had at Honda he saw a service guy arguing with a customer about an issue saying they guy was imaging it, and the guy my husband had spoken to didn't even know how the warranty work process works on this first conversation. My husband took the car to Kia and spoke to Andrew (there are 2 Andrews, both are great). We had the car 20 days and technically they didn't need to replace anything, or do anything, we bought it 'as is'. But Andrew told my husband they can sometimes take care of small things like this. They now have my car and are doing the work for free, even though I would have just paid the small amount to have this fixed. I know this is a long review. But until today I loved my Honda, I would have bought a Honda after my house in Georgia sells and I need a newer car. I may have even bought a new Ridgeline, one of the cars I really like. But you know what??????? I am SO IMPRESSED with the 2 Andrews and the entire group at Aloha Kia I will probably only go there, FOREVER!!! I will also tell everyone I talk to about this story. When something goes WRONG that is when a company's true spirit shows. I will find a Kia I like, and they have a very impressive warranty and are obviously willing to stand behind their product. So Kia Hilo could not or would not hire a power of attorney to fix the registration paper copy so they fixed in the DMV system. So I went to the DMV myself, waited an hour, paid the $5, and got a corrected paper copy. The general manager at Kia filled up my car with a full tank of gas yesterday for my troubles. I helped a friend shop for a used Soul in early February 2021, and out of all the places we went to, Aloha Kia Hilo was one of the best experiences. We had visited other dealerships earlier in the day, and they kept trying to get us to buy old cars for a higher price than what we were willing to pay for them. As two young women who don't know too much about cars, we were a little out of our element, but we stuck with our plan. Ryan at Aloha Kia was the first salesman of the day to take our requirements seriously. He showed us a car that fit our budget and did not waste our time trying to upsell us on pricier cars as the other dealerships did. Kia in Hilo has always been my place to shop for a car I've purchased 4 cars from them two brand new and two used Andrew from parts dept and his team have always taken care of our needs and the up keep of our vehicles going out of his way to make his clients sastisfied here's the catch the sales team and the general manager needs to be changed no customer service what so ever never returns calls wouldn't give you the time of day if it not what they want to hear I thought customer service was more than that with Kia and there commercial states that they take care of the customer before and after sales what a bull shit I'm considering doing business somewhere else it's time for changes and KIA will be one of them read more

I have had 2 Kia's now; one bought at Aloha Kia and one bought used elsewhere. The Kia service department was ok but on my second (used) vehicle, they were either mistaken or really shady and told me the warranty was up when in fact I still had a year left. I started taking my car to Lex Brodie's for maintenance and they informed me that I still had warranty. Kia work is super expensive, slow, and a couple of times other problems happened immediately after getting the vehicle back. The sales department on my first buying experience was willing to negotiate and fair. Recently, I went in with some interest in getting another Kia. Name removed called me obnoxiously 4 times in one week trying to get me to set an appointment to see a car. When I went in and test drove, I found one I liked and put an offer down later on. They were charging 30% more than the regionally adjusted MSRP. I tried to negotiate. She flat out said no, and did not negotiate lower at all. Then she proceeded to leave messages and emails claiming she would offer a better deal, but it was only $1000 off of their sticker price. She claimed that they are so popular that they couldn't keep then on the lot, so they didn't need to go any lower on the price. I left and am planning on buying from a different car company. I do not want to support greedy rip off car dealerships with inflated egos, or terrible sales people. I guess there is no such thing as negotiating the price at Aloha Kia. To Name removed I say: If the cars sell themselves and fly off the lots, why exactly does KIA even need sales people? Couldn't the cars be cheaper if your "sales commission" wasn't tacked onto the price? If the cars sell themselves, then halleluya no more cars salespeople needed! That would make car shopping infinitely better! Update: We ended up buying a Honda on Oahu, and not from a KIA dealership! I removed the salesperson's name due to a personal request from the person. The service manager there will straight up lie to you if you are a woman. They will not do the work promised when you set an appointment, instead they'll give you the run around and try to get you to replace expensive parts instead of doing the simple fix. I called and asked if they could perform an ECU update and provided a technical service bulletin number which the service manager looked up and said they could. When my girlfriend took her car in to get the ECU update, the service manager suddenly said he could not find the technical service bulletin that he pulled up the other day and instead insisted it was probably a $1400 repair rather than the $50 ECU update. After my girlfriend insisted on the ECU update, they told her the ECU was already updated and refused to perform the update. I come in and ask the service manager for an update and he lies to my face and tells me that it's already updated and that he could provide me with a screenshot as proof. I accept his offer of a screenshot, and suddenly his tune changes. He can't give me the screenshot today, but will provide it tomorrow if we leave the car overnight and allow them to do a $60 test drive tomorrow. I accept. The next day they say nothing is wrong and don't provide the screenshot. They probably did not drive the car because right after we get it home the check engine light comes on with the exact same error as before. Most likely they just cleared the engine code and did not want to admit to lying about the ECU. read more
