The park has a water fountain for your dog to drink. Trash cans are outside of the park however no bags for dog waste so you can bring your own.

What i do like is how this park has a second gated area as an option for those smaller dogs who are too fragile to be around the big guys. The only problem i have about this park is the care and cleanliness the city focus on this dog area. You can tell the grass hasn't been touch for a while cause they're holes doles dig in and sometimes you can find turf if you're walking on the grass. This place has so much potential to interact with your dog or throw like little cute gatherings . But Instead they just have chairs thrown everywhere and bench tables flip where i found it useless at this case to even take up the space. They also have a water fountain which doesn't work all the time so make sure u have your water bottle handy !

So one side is for smaller dogs and the other one is for larger dogs. So all are safe and happy. It's been kept clean so far and I hope dog owners continue to keep that up. We brought a bottle of water for Ham, but it would be nice if they had water fountains here like they do at the other doggy parks. One thing I did notice this time though: the fence. Along one side of the fence, the bottom of the bars stick out and face in towards the dog run area. Just eye level for my little guy. It makes me nervous when the dogs are playing and run along it. I don't think they'd intentionally run right into it, but accidents happen. All fun and games, till someone loses an eye!

It fact, "It was used by the Continental Army in 1776 as a lookout point, which at that time offered strategic views of Manhattan, Brooklyn, New York harbor, a portion of New Jersey, Staten Island, and Long Island"[1]. Mount Prospect Park has something to offer for everyone: - If you have a dog, this is a dog-friendly park, with many dogs enjoying the large grassy area at the center. Keep in mind that the area is completely open. There are specific off-leash hours, and I found all dog owners who come to the park to be friendly and respectful. - If you like to run, there is a running route that goes all around the park, mainly shaded by wonderful tree, that covers 0.22 miles/0.36 km[2]. There are also some stairs that lead to the highest point in the park, that are also good for exercising. Another set of (steeper) stairs is near the second access point near the Brooklyn Public Library. - If you have young kids, there is a playground with two jungle gyms separated by a sprinklers area, plus an enclosed area with swings, and six concrete small tables with benches. There are a lot of mosquitoes, particularly tiger mosquitoes i.e. the ones that are active during the day, in the area near the benches around the fence. The main entrance by the Brooklyn Botanic Garden has no stairs, and its gentle incline is perfect if you have a stroller or bike. - If you have older kids, I have seen soccer games and other team sports (baseball, freesbee, etc...) or training sessions take place in the lawn at the center of the park. Keep in mind that the area is not completely covered in grass, and it can get dusty. The park seems to be generally understaffed (hence 4 stars instead of 5). The trash cans are not emptied daily, and the hours at which sprinklers are on during the summer, or when restrooms are open, seem to be totally random. While I find the dog owners and runners very respectful, some of the people who have birthday parties or other celebrations here tend to leave a lot of trash behind. There's a lot of cracks on the floor in which flowers are blooming outward from the cracks. Tennis nets are tattered and holed, while the fence lining are ripe and falling apart. There's not much shaded areas for mid-day plays, so the best time for some good tennis play is during late afternoons. This is a public NYC park, was hoping for some city maintenance....maybe wishful thinking

DiCarlo Recreation Area ground is stable and somewhat flat to offer plenty of space for athletics of summer's blaze. Thus, there is no need for one's volleyball court to be bumping with another party. On a clear blue sky day park patrons can visibly see the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. There are also very few trees and I do not recommend dogs to play here as easily lost. N.B. There are no picnic tables and I do not believe facilities are available either.

Dog run users are also fairly conscientious about not bringing in aggressive dogs. The Parks Dept really needs to step it up and bring the place up to the standards of Manhattan dog runs rather than blow its budget on 7-figure renovations of an overlook that few people even use and a million+ dollar skate park of interest to very few kids in this neighborhood.
