My kids are now 17 and 20, so I have no recent experience, but cannot imagine much has changed since we spent four years under their care. From the administrator Cindy to each and every teacher (especially Peggy and someone else whose name escapes me at the moment), it was a place chock full of learning and love. And somehow this flowed down by creating a very strong bond shared between the other families and Moms and Dads which did not diminish with time. Thanks again to everyone on staff for creating a nurturing, warm, highly competent educational experience for my children.

Their attention and care for children is second go none. The lessons are theme based each week and when my daughter comes home she cannot wait to talk about (ie: weather, eating healthy, writing...) whatever the lesson is. St. Marks has very accommodating hours (630am-6pm) and flexible scheduling options. I believe that this is a school/daycare that is truly 100% invested in the children and not just here to run a business. The school also provides a variety of heathy meals. There is also a large gym for the kids on gym days (I haven't found many other schools with this). A++++

We've sent all three of our kids to Busy Bees and couldn't be happier with that decision. The Montessori instruction fosters independence and confidence in kids. People are constantly amazed at the things my kids can do -- like putting on their coats, feeding themselves, focusing on tasks, etc. -- at a young age. We currently work with Elda and Gisel in the Eggs classroom, and these two teachers and their aides could not be more devoted to the children they work with. They clearly love each child, and know them very, very well. I also appreciate Busy Bees' willingness to communicate and partner with parents. As much as Busy Bees has been instructive for my kids, I've also learned a lot from the Montessori method they employ and the caring, fantastic staff they hire. We are so grateful for this wonderful little school!

I love the Montessori approach and how it encourages independence and critical thinking. The school has an authetic Montessori approach. My daughter loved Busy Bees! Long story short, I wanted my son to start preschool tomorrow (his 3rd birthday), but it appears that the Post Office has misplaced the registration paperwork that I mailed in last Friday (at least, I will give the ELC the benefit of the doubt that this is the Post Office's screw-up and not theirs). Okay, what can I do to get him starting classes ASAP, I asked? "You need to come in and pick up the paperwork and fill it out." Can't you just scan the paperwork to me so I can fill it out and have someone drop it off, I asked? I am a single mom and I work during their business hours. My older child is disabled and about to have surgery and I am saving my paid time off for that. That is the whole reason that I mailed it in the first time instead of dropping it off myself. "No, you need to come in and pick up the paperwork, because we need originals." What on earth does them needing originals have to do with me getting the paperwork in the first place?? (Also, I registered my daughter at another CCSD59 school by scanning in the registration paperwork, so I really don't see why the ELC "needs originals"; I already brought in my son's birth certificate in person.) Here's the kicker: I begin poking around the CCSD59 Web site and what do I find there? The registration paperwork in PDF form. There should have been no problem with scanning it to me.

The curriculum is full of fun, hands on projects from science, math, art and story time. They have an outstanding music program with two really cute performances during the year. I had always heard wonderful things about it from other moms in the community. We are now about to complete our first year over there and I honestly could not be happier with my choice. My daughter has grown so much, and has been so cared for along the way. There are so many hands-on learning stations for the kids to learn and explore. During the year, they've been able to learn through kinetic sand, water table, large and small motor activities, reading, writing, games, and so much more. They had a firefighter visit to teach them about fire safety, a librarian visit their school to foster their appreciation for books and reading, and they also learned about caterpillars turning into butterflies by witnessing it firsthand. I feel a school is only as good as its teachers and staff, and the teachers at Village are true gems - so warm, nurturing, and knowledgeable. They all have been at the school for many years, and they make learning so fun and age appropriate. The director of the school is also superb; a very organized woman whose door is always open and is willing to answer any questions I've had throughout the year. She does a wonderful job communicating with parents through newsletters and notes about upcoming events at the school. We are always greeted with smiles by the whole staff. You can tell they all want to be there and love what they do, not just one day but everyday. There is also a great weekly music class that the kids attend, and there are 2 music performances that the kids put on for their families. This is a great way for the kids to become comfortable in front of large groups. I highly recommend Village Preschool to everyone I meet since we've had such a positive experience there. You know it's a special place when my younger one who is 18 months never wants to leave when we drop off her older sister at school!
