After consulting with the handy dandy Yelp app, we came across An Poitin Stil, and we are so glad. The entire restaurant looks like an old Irish pub, very sort of medieval-ish, and so us being in our ren faire clothes meant we fit in super well! We quickly found the Guinness Harp table in an alcove. Staff came by right away and were quite friendly. Food was excellent, very hearty and tasty. A couple of us got the shepherd's pie and one got the fish & chips. Now, the fun part. It was after the lunch rush, so less busy. We wanted to get some photos of us in our ren clothes in this very ren-style place. Not only were the staff fine with this, they even got a couple of decor items off the walls for us to pose with, and they took photos of us with them. Would we go again? YES. We're planning a meetup soon with our other friends, all of us in garb, to have a lovely meal. It's easy to get to, parking is free, plentiful and the atmosphere was fantastic.

We ended up parking in the neighborhood across the street. There is a busy Happy Hour going on around 5:30 which is great. The Emerald Tavern has a bit of Irish-ness about it with a few Brit food options on the menu like fish and chips and shepherd's pie. We sat at the bar and were pleased to find a beer menu! The beer selection was varied and included some local options. They also have a wide selection of beer on tap and in bottles and cans. I was not expecting that. The food menu was also much larger than I would have expected. They have just about everything here. I had the chicken quesadilla (it came with salsa and sour cream) and my husband had the cheesesteak special which was only $6! All of the prices on the menu were very reasonable. We also had the pretzel bite which were good if not a little greasy. The quesadilla and cheesesteak were really good! Service at the bar was fast and friendly. They have live music here on the weekends but we left long before the band started setting up because we are old.

This was a nice and spacious event space with high top tables and chairs in addition to a long bar area. There were flat screen TVs mounted on the walls, so checking out the latest sporting events was not an issue. We got our bingo cards and dabblers and looked over the menu to order. There were two menus; the brunch menu and the traditional CVP menu. We got something from both: the CVP wings (mild), with tater tots from the traditional menu and paired it with the bottomless brunch drink package, which included your choice of house Bloody Mary, mimosa, screwdriver or Natural Light draft beer (you have to stick with one choice). The servers were pleasant and we placed our orders at the bar. The food arrived in about 30 minutes, but was warm, not as hot as I wanted. The wings were cooked well with a mild buffalo sauce and the tater tots came in a small metal bucket; enough for up to 4 people. They were fresh and not greasy, just wished they were hotter. For the bottomless brunch drink package, I chose the screwdriver and a pleasant server came over to our table and put a wristband on me so that I could walk up to the bar for refills. The vodka was well vodka, but I didn't have a headache the next day, so that was good! The upstairs area seems to be an event space. The downstairs area was the main bar with tables as well. All in all, CVP was ok for the event I attended and may visit again in the future.

I came to Charles Village Pub twice for trivia finals in March & September 2023. Unfortunately, I was from the businesses in the southside division of trivia (relative to Baltimore), which is various ones in Anne Arundel & Howard County. It's unfortunate it was always here or on the northside of town. The current finals location is even a bit further from my AA County home than here, but I was happy that they at least changed so that Charles Pub didn't get a bunch of business. The place has a somewhat small upstairs area and especially small for 20 finalist trivia teams of 4+ people. Both times I did eat lunch here. Wings were pretty good, but nothing to write home about. But it's very slow to get service. One of the people in my party was getting very upset about water refill or something as the staff kept forgetting to check on him. Also, the bill couldn't be split, and that was also chaotic. That was on the 1st visit. 2nd visit was even a bit worse. We were squeezed in the bar area. One of us had to stand as there wasn't enough room for all 5 of us basically the last to get there although ultimately there was some shifting and everyone got to sit, but it shouldn't have been this overcrowded to begin with. I think I was able to pay individually this time as we were individuals at the bar as opposed to a table, but I noticed this extra charge on top of tax, like some inflation fee on top of what is posted on the menu for the price roughly a buck or two more. I don't like how this business runs this. Just raise the menu price; I don't like the hidden fee. If the trivia was coming back here for finals, I would make sure to eat an early lunch beforehand and not give Charles Pub a dime. Only positive was the pretty good wings; why it doesn't get the dreaded 1-star.

I discovered that everyone has the same opinion and I should have gotten a reservation. The inside is very nice also, so no issues. I was greeted immediately and seated in a comfortable area. I was waited on immediately with water and flatware. My drink from the bar was very good and my server was excellent ("Addie"). I ordered the lobster roll and I have to say that I was disappointed, there was very little flavor. It was simply lobster meat and mayonnaise on a bun. I've had a Lobster roll at other places and much more flavor. I noticed that the hostess's have no dress code and looked as if they wore their yard clothes to work. Short cut off blue jean shorts. Bellies showing and low-cut blouses. Not very professional in my opinion, especially for the impression they are trying to present to they're customers. I like the ambiance, but probably won't return.

When he finally did, the cocktails were easily the worst we've ever had -- completely undrinkable. This isn't a one-off; it's the third time he's served us, and every time the service and drinks have been awful. He seemed out of it -- distracted, unprofessional, maybe even under the influence. To top it off, he served my drink in a dirty glass. When I asked for a replacement, he just poured the same disgusting drink into another cup instead of remaking it. I had to insist he start over. It's such a shame because the bartenders on the other side of The Point are excellent -- friendly, attentive, and professional. This one bartender, however, drags down the entire experience and the bar's reputation. I won't be coming back.

There are three different areas. A dining area, a bar area and an additional bar area with a stage and dance floor. When I entered I was immediately greeted by the bar staff and sat at the bar. The menu was decent and offered tropical brunch foods. I opted for the chicken and waffles brown sugar waffles. The chicken came out as tenders which where cooked perfectly and tasted great. The waffle was amazing. The staff was attentive and very helpful. I had "The Son of Nutcracker"drink which was ok. They have a Jameson club, which I joined. It allows you to purchase a bottle of Jameson to keep at the bar for $75 after a $50 club membership fee. I enjoyed this place and will definitely be back. The only potential issue may be parking. I was able to get a spot on the street but can imagine finding a good spot on busy days might be a daunting task.

I don't drink, and in the past Mike has always taken great care of me and understood that. This was my first time dealing with the other bartenders, and unfortunately, it didn't go well. When I sat at a table and tried to order, the bartender wouldn't make eye contact and never came back after I mentioned that I don't drink. He focused on everyone else around me instead. I moved to the bar hoping things would improve, but it was more of the same--being looked past and ignored. The kindest moment of the night actually came from the chef, who brought my cauliflower bites out himself, still piping hot. He confirmed they were mine, smiled, set them down, and headed back to the kitchen. I had ordered buffalo bites, but they came out plain, and it took some effort to get the bartender's attention just to ask for the sauce--though once I had it, the bites were truly delicious. By then I was over it, especially as I watched him continue to cater to everyone else. I ate and waited for my bill. It was karaoke night, so I sang a few songs to pass the time, but still no check. Eventually, I managed to get the (still nameless) bartender to bring it, and I left. I've been here before and usually enjoy the place, but this visit wasn't great. I felt brushed off the whole time.
