My mechanic in Catonsville said Marvin's was the one place in the Baltimore metro area he trusted to fix & replace only the parts that actually needed it, as the issue was some sections of the exhaust train & the metal parts clamping it to the car had rusted enough for the whole exhaust train to break free when I hit the pothole [my car's so old, its stereo is an AM/FM radio + cassette tape & CD player which was a "deluxe" upgrade back when someone bought it new from their local dealership]. I trusted my mechanic, so I drove from Catonsville to Brooklyn Park & showed up as a walk-in at Marvin's. It was first come, first served & they had a vehicle in each bay plus 1-2 others who'd checked in ahead of me. I sat & read a book I was in the middle of, & before I knew it, one of the guys told me I could pay & be on my way. I asked how much I owed, then had to ask him to repeat it because I was sure I'd missed part of the number he'd said, because my total couldn't possibly be a number with so few digits. Turns out I'd heard it right the first time. That was 4 years ago. I still drive the same car & haven't had any issues with the exhaust system since (still passes its MVA smog checks). If you've got a muffler or any exhaust train issue, this is the place to at least get an estimate, whether you live in the City or in whichever Maryland county & driving to Brooklyn Park is quicker than driving to DC or PA. Marvin's is honest, has experienced mechanics, and no one there tried to sell me anything - they just put my car in a bay, lifted it up, looked at it from below & told me they could fix it. Which took less time & MUCH less money than I'd expected.

I booked an appointment for service to my snowblower. When the tech came, he started working on it…read moreand then told me I needed a new choke switch. Never once said anything about anything else. Got a message saying I needed the choke switch and a new carb. The service PM I was getting was a full service. Oil change, spark plug, carb cleaning, belt inspection, etc. The choke switch was replaced and new carb installed. Tech told me via text that he was done and machine was running good. Upon coming home from work, I started looking over machine. Oil was black, spark plug was rusty (so never changed) and the bolts to the cover were dusty so no inspection was completed. When I sent pics, I was told that he didn't change the spark plug bc the machine ran good. They offered to come back but at this point all trust was lost. I paid for the parts but that was it. Yes, the machine starts good but after using it during this snow, the carb is leaking fuel and it does not throttle up at all so were there any adjustments made. I have to stay in #1 and go very slow. To top it all off, I went back and saved all my ring footage and watched what the tech did. Let's just say that the footage don't match what they told me was done. The owner told me that I didnt need to pay but I wanted to pay for the parts as I'm not that type of person. The reason for the review is because how many others do they do this to. If you pay for service, you should get the service you paid for and not what they think. Now I need to take it somewhere else to get it fixed correctly.
