As a catering and takeout focused restaurant, Ceylantroo only has three chairs for waiting customers, not diners. Though they don't have a menu to hand out, they have signs over their hot table advertising Sri Lankan specialties like kothu amongst other more usual fair like roti. On the hot table there were the usual samosas, vadai, and a number of vegetarian dishes. What sealed the deal was when the friendly server said I could try all 5 with rice for $6 flat. Packed to the brim in a large takeout container, this was any foodie and bargain hunters dream! Just a tip: be sure you're up for some authentic spice when ordering, otherwise this may not be the place for you. And when I say spice, I mean chili slices with seeds attached---aka the real deal. If you do have some heat tolerance, get ready for some real flavour! In the 5 vegetarian dishes I had, there were: beets, potatoes and Chana (chichpeas), daal (lentils), eggplant and pumpkin. While there are potentially tongue numbing spice, it's also balanced with fragrant masala like cardamom pods, seeds etc. Really just a dream if you like full-flavoured dishes. As for where I ate, it happened to be a beautiful sunny day, so I parked myself by some concrete dividers and enjoyed some sun, spice and a memorable weekend meal. I made it for supper last night. The recipes had pictures that clearly showed what to do Here are the ingredients and recipe for the NY Strip Steak with Green Peppercorn Cream Sauce ... AAA New York steak, beef broth, olive oil, butter, shallots, white wine vinegar, pear juice, whipping cream and green peppercorns in brine. Here are the ingredients and recipe for the Mashed Potatoes with Nutmeg and Chives ... Yukon Gold potatoes, sea salt, half & half, butter, nutmeg and chives. It took about an hour to make it. My peppercorn sauce didn't look quite like the one in the picture but it was good nonetheless. So good, in fact, that there was some leftover and we are going to use it with something else for supper tomorrow. I love love love mashed potatoes and these were delicious. Who is this service good for? Someone who loves to cook but is too busy to shop or hates shopping. Recipieces makes it easy to create gourmet meals by providing all the ingredients AND measuring them out.

While telling us about the food she has she gave us a samosa to sample. It was on the spicy side for us but tasty nonetheless. Chic Peas Veg has such a broad menu. They have smoothies, soups, wraps, buddha bowls/salads, baked goods (muffins, scones, baked donuts, etc), snacks (samosas, patties), drinks (pure coconut water, organic cold-pressed juices, etc) and of course hot dishes of stews that come with teff and barley injera (a fermented flatbread) or turmeric basmati rice and veggies/salad. Naza also told us that the food containers she uses are made from plants and biodegradable. Be sure to put them in the compost when you're finished the food. Be sure to ask which stews they have since it changes weekly. We got a meal with injera, three stews (eggplant, chickpea, plant-based meat), and salad. I suppose if you're really hungry one person could finish this by themselves but we ended up splitting this among three people. We were slightly concerned that the stews would be too spicy for us but they weren't spicy and extremely flavourful.
