I finally found a yoga studio that I can get behind. I have tried for years to see what the lululemon mafia was all fussed about when it came to Yoga. In my mind, if I am not blowing through 100 calories per hour, I am just not sure its worth my time. People raved about flexibility etc, but I just could not really feel any difference. Then, my friend introduced me to Keshava a few months ago and I really loved it and finally got it! To those who have said that this is not what they expected of 'classic' yoga and want to do sun salutations ad nauseum, then yeah this is definitely not it. Whats working for me: 1- This is actually hard... not like the typical 'stretching' yoga class or the dehydration inducing Bikram. I really loved how we held poses for a long time. I feel my muscle working and struggling the whole time. It is strangely relaxing to just breathe through the discomfort and recognize your body getting stronger. It may also feel harder since they actually adjust you into the right position for the best impact and stretch. No more cheating! 2- There is a strong focus on meditation... if I am not going to be blazing calories, I had better at least leave relaxed, at peace, mentally cleansed. Many classes I've tried while doing a thousand down dogs and salutations never left me feeling this good. Keshava's voice is crazy relaxing. I'm slightly addicted. 3- The price... $15 for 90 minutes! Sign me up! They also offer package deals for an even lower price 4- No two classes are alike... I learned so many new poses in one of these that I had never gotten in the various failed attempts I've made to like yoga previously. I love how I am pushed. Keshava's style is to be serious about yoga but to not take yourself too seriously. He is lighthearted and I love how just when you're at the moment of breaking a pose, he cracks a joke that makes you smile through the pain. If you take yourself too seriously, this may not be for you. read more

I bought a Groupon for 5 yoga classes (only $20!) and recently attended my first class, a 90 minute session. The space is nice, the music playing in the background is peaceful and well-timed, and the instructors have a great sense of humor. If you're someone who hasn't done yoga in a while, be prepared for an intense session. You'll be asked to breathe deeply and push yourself in maintaining the poses. The instructor tended to break tension by making jokes which helped a lot; I found myself laughing as much as breathing deeply at times. What I loved about the session was that there was a lot of breathing and meditation integrated into the practice. It wasn't just about the poses; as the instructor said, "I want you to smile in the midst of all the pressure, because that's what you'll be asked to do in life." I agree with other Yelpers who noted that it won't matter if you're a beginner since the instructor goes around adjusting your posture. As the classes are kept small, it never feels too crowded and the instructor is always very attentive. I also never felt self-conscious. Your muscles will be sore the next day, but it's well worth it. At the end of my session, laying down finally was bliss, and I felt like I had earned it. You'll leave feeling like a warrior, simultaneously rejuvenated and calm. The green tea (already hot and made to go) is such a nice touch at the end of the class too. I found this yoga studio by purchasing a Groupon. I was bit nervous when I walked in since I saw the class already started and the Groupon mentioned that I needed to be there 15 minutes prior to class time. Radha was very kind and patience with me and informed me that I am still able to participate since I was only about 5 minutes late. I would consider myself a very flexible yogi. In my 4 years of attending various classes of yoga this has to be my favorite. The reasons are, Keshava and Radha encourages you to push your limits. Some poses I thought was doing correctly throughout the years were incorrect, Keshava and Radha were walked around the class and helps students to correct their poses. They do not teach classes together, at least to my knowledge. However whoever teach's the class will pay close attention to each student. In my opinion again this is just my opinion, Keshava's classes are little more difficult and you will need to hold posses longer. Radha classes are challenging as well however I feel more relaxed in her classes. There are more students in Keshava class than Radha's. I feel as though my endurance has grown from practicing at this yoga studio. I love how they end their classes. Both teachers always end the class with amazing meditation and warm cup of tea. I look forward to their tea all the time. It does relax me after great yoga session. read more

I only have positive thoughts for Keshava Radha Yoga. A simple and humble space (that's all you need!), Keshava and Radha create an environment in which to relax and practice the purest form of Yoga. I always leave class feeling energized and radiant, even on my toughest days. Class sizes are small and personalized (no you will not be mat to mat with your neighbor) and each student is assisted and adjustments made as necessary (oh, I was crooked doing downward dog this entire time??) Under Keshava's guidance, I trust that I am learning the correct form for each asana and he's constantly pushing us (safely and within our own capacities) to stretch ourselves (ha, yes pun intended) to our maximum potential. Perfect for beginners and seasoned yogis alike. Meditation is also offered weekly in addition to other in-depth workshops. If you're looking to escape the yoga "scene" and have a personal, guided yoga practice - I invite you to give Keshava Radha a run. I've been practicing yoga for over 10 years, but I never knew yoga until I started practicing with Keshava 6 years ago. He is one of the most knowledgable, skillful, and caring teachers I've ever met. Practicing with him deepened my practice and changed my life truly. I was never very strong or athletic and suffered a lot from back pain. I never thought my body could do or feel the way it does now. Keshava is an amazing instructor. The classes here are different from most in the city, they are slower paced and you tend to hold poses for long periods of time really pushing yourself. I think the below reviews are quiet deceiving, so here is my take. I bought a Groupon deal for this place and what I experienced here was not yoga in a classic sense. It was a mixture of martial arts and yogic philosophy and movement mixed all together. The philosophy was there but the presentation was rather presumptuous and arrogant. Breathing instructions and sequencing were random without structure. There were about 10-15 poses that we were instructed to hold for minutes at a time and had to repeat it. No sun salutes, no ujjayi breathing, no warm-ups. There was no room for modifications and we were never asked if we had previous injuries, etc. The class was done in "drill sergeant style" with dharma-talk like monologue by a teacher who is a lovely and kind "diamond in a rough" with good intentions. The poses we did were not difficult, but the class was intense because we had to hold static poses for long periods of time and I also didn't particularly care for the constant adjustments throughout the class. There was adequate time for shavasana and relaxation with appropriate music, but after the class I just didn't have the usual relaxed feeling I normally experience after yoga classes. If you are new to yoga star out at any YogaWorks, OM or Jivamukti, they all have a well established system to teach yoga. read more

I bought a groupon with several classes of Keshava Radha Yoga included. I went to the first class last night. Overall, it was great. They do not have showers at the facility, which is a slight inconvenience. The instructor was proactive, friendly and knowledgeable. I'm a Yoga beginner (2 classes a few months back) and forgot to mention it to him before starting the class, but it did not matter as he adjusted the class to ensure that everyone was going at the same pace. He emphasized the movements and the 'present', making sure the yoga veterans did not rush ahead to the 'future'. He adjusted body position accordingly throughout, which helped me in particular, as a beginner. He gave everyone green tea at the end. Overall, very positive and will be coming back. But not for a few days, as my body is aching - the positive aches. read more

Yoga is a mind and body workout, for sure. But the asanas -- or poses -- are just part of it. Yoga is movement and breath and meditation: a three-legged stool. Everyday we are bombarded by social media, etc which may cause undo stress on the body and mind. Practice with Radha and Keshava has literally changed my life. I am more relaxed and the things that once bothered me simply "pass by like clouds in the sky". No two days are exactly the same and nor are the practices at this studio. The instructors take the time to understand YOU. They love what they do and it shows. Everyday I am grateful for their time and talent. I have been on a journey trying different yoga studios. Keshava Radha definitely stands out among the crowd. I would go so far as to say they have a proprietary style. It is a place to relax and deepen your practice, not just work your muscles (you won't find deep flow or power vinyasa here). You will learn the proper way to breathe and align movement to that breath. It is DEFINITELY a worthy place to go. The only things I am not a fan of are: 1) the location - in an office building in an alley-like side street full of garment wholesalers, sandwiched between Herald Sq. and Times Sq. This is pretty much my main gripe: it's in the armpit of Manhattan.; and 2) I wish the cost was a bit cheaper considering they lack many amenities (especially the teacher training, which is Really outpriced compared to many studios I've researched, including fancy and boutique ones). read more

This place is wonderful. Keshava is soooo nice and patient. I went as a new yogi and he was very helpful in showing (and helping) me assume the correct postures. He throws in some comical comments to break up the seriousness of what's going on -- for example, he told me he said to do down dog, not the chihuahua I was doing. I am quite enamored of this little studio. It's in a rather unassuming office building, but Keshava and Radha have created an oasis. It's warm and welcoming and so are they. As a yoga teacher, I have a hard time shutting off my educator brain and just taking a class. However, both Radha and Keshava made it easy. Truly providing a format and structure where I did not have to think, but just do. Sequencing and poses are slow and mindful. Their focus is definitely on relaxation and expansion, but don't think that means it's easy. I was challenged each and every class. I certainly learned something new and had sore muscles the following day - every time. And after savasana they come around with a lovely cup of tea. A great way to end the class and transition back into your day. I know they are moving their studio in the coming months. I don't know where that will be, but I am sure it will be a special place. read more

wI have been with Keshava and Radha for over 5 years in Florida. I first learned about Keshava through Groupon's Sports Pass. I wasn't sure their classes would work as they were in Boca Raton and I was in Palm Beach Florida, a bit of a ride. Keshava had a class that was actually perfect for me, time wise, as I was a bartender and server for a Hilton in Boca Raton. Late nights and I couldn't do evening classes. I had stepped out of my gym membership and lost my yoga classes. So I was searching for the right instructor with the right method of teaching a Hatha Yoga Class. I could not find exactly what I wanted. I tried so many classes in a 25 mile radius for several months. So I plopped myself down on my yoga mat that day not expecting that my life would change forever. Keshava started talking and I listened. My interest was peaked after his first sentence. By his 3rd or 4th sentence, he had my attention. I couldn't believe I found this person. By the end of the class I didn't care how far I had to drive. This is exactly what I was looking for! How can I relay to who reads this that Keshava is very intuitive, there are countless times he decisively directs the class on a certain body part or area of the body or a enlighten concept, it will be exactly what I needed that day. It is like you are going to a philosophy class with Hatha yoga postures to express his words. He talks about how to bring this practice to our life which is what it is all about. During Covid most yoga classes closed down but Keshava and Radha found a way to keep it going on Zoom. A huge plus in my life. I have since been diagnosed with a serious medical condition which Keshava is aware of. I have chosen to continue classes. Keshava is always mindful of my capabilities and those of others. He will show you another way to still give you the benefit of the posture and keep you safe. I was able to enjoy some of Radha's classes and loved them as well. Her voice to me is like an angel and immediately calms my whole being. Keshava and Radha have changed my life and continue to change my life in amazing, countless ways. The practical: Classes are run by Keshava and Radha. The pace is slower than the Vinyasa (flow) classes I'm used to, and instructors are extremely attentive to individual skill levels and form so beginners would feel comfortable as well. Matts are provided, and green tea is served after classes. There are no showers and it is advisable to change before arrival, and to arrive at least ten minutes before the start of class. The ooshy-gooshy stuff: For what it is (a form and breathing focused relaxing 90 minute session) this is the best yoga in the city. I took classes at more than 15 studios in the last two months. Normally I have too short an attention span for this sort of thing, but Keshava is my favorite out of all 20+ instructors I tried out. Radha is strong too, but I only tried one class with her thus far because Keshava is so exceptional it's hard to even give another instructor a chance. The studio is also very flexible about scheduling, and other students are friendly and welcoming. Keshava remembers individual students names, and checks/corrects each student very frequently - more frequently than any studio I've ever been to. But man are his adjustments spot on! I was amazed at how much better seemingly-familiar poses could be. He also varies the classes and each one I've taken with him has been very different, we've hardly repeated anything even though I've tried a few different time slots. This place is beyond fantastic. I am a very self-conscious person, and both Keshava and Radha make me feel at ease here. I have had two classes, and each time left feeling energized and stronger both physically and mentally. I have a herniated disc and a frozen shoulder, making some of the poses more challenging for me than for others, but Keshava very patiently guides me through. He challenges you but doesn't put unnecessary pressure. Like others, I want to keep these amazing people to myself, but I owe it to others to share them. Try them out, you will NOT regret it. Its the best Yoga you will ever experienced! Here there is no judgments, no competition, There is a respect for your own body as we are everyone different. I love Keshava's teaching, very fun, so relaxing and challenging all at the same time! Very easy you can feel your energy flowing into your own body if you listen his directive. I have been doing yoga at various studios around boca for 10+ years and have not been so challenged like I have at Keshava Radha yoga. Prior to my first class I was a little skeptical how a place could have garnered only five star reviews but now I understand: Keshava is absolutely magical. A lot of classes I've been to it feels like a rush - no personalized attention and just brainless following through of poses. These classes are slower, and for a good reason: Keshava is super attentive and helps you become aware of what your body is doing and why. I've been a yoga student of Keshava and Radha for many years in their previous location (East Village). They teach classic hatha yoga with full focus on awareness and relaxation, as it should be. Not only do I feel totally relaxed and energized after each class, but the physical benefits are also incredible, with my body feeling much more flexible, stronger and open. Both of them are truly gifted and wholeheartedly care about each of their students. I'm a beginner to yoga. I bought a groupon recently and started taking yoga classes at different locations, including Keshava Radha yoga. I've been here twice and the class was with Keshava each time. The positives: 1) He's VERY attentive. He doesn't just tell you what to do, he goes around the class and helps you with your breathing, posture etc. I found that very helpful. Great attention to detail. 2) Keshava has a great sense of humour. Makes the classes enjoyable. 3) They provide mats free of charge. 3) They serve green tea at the end. It's so refreshing and provides an opportunity to chat with other students - something that doesn't happen at the other locations I've been to. The negatives: 1) The classroom is rather chilly. Would be nice if it were warmer, esp. in the winter. Overall, a great place and a convenient location (two blocks from Penn Station. We found this studio with an AmazonLocal deal and it was an amazing find. $40 for 10 sessions within 3 months. We were totally smitten after the first class. Keshava is amazing - he is a supportive and hilarious instructor who really knows yoga. The class is focused more on breathing and holding poses than on movement, but it was still an excellent workout and I'd often be a bit sore for days afterwards. The classes were always packed - that might have been because of the deal, but there were also quite a few repeat customers. Two other awesome perks are that they provide the yoga mats which just makes it so easy and such a pleasure to go. They also give out green tea at the end of class. I've only been to yoga a few times, but this place has definitely been awesome. My instructor everytime has always been Keshava and he is super patient and helpful. If you can't do something, he'll help you out, but he'll also try to push you if he thinks you're just being lazy and not doing the move properly. They do hatha yoga here, which is a little slower paced than vinyasa, which is a bit slow for me, but it still gives me a good work out and is nice for relaxing in the evenings since that's the only time I can come to class. read more

I have nothing to compare this to, because my last experience with yoga was when I was not even a teenager. I attended a community class. I liked the space, which was very serene and had no distractions, allowing you to focus. I also liked that the provided mats, so I didn't have to bring my own. The instructor (Nicola) encouraged everyone to do the poses at their own level, but was encouraging to maintain them to get the maximum benefit. I also liked that they served tea at the end. Specific attention is given to each student without any judgement or intrusion. Mats happen to be complimentary and your first class is free. It's important that I always learn something in yoga and so far, it's been a learning experience. I left the other studio because the open class is just rote sun salutation (which I've memorized and can do on my own) and is taught by junior instructors. I think it's good to do studio hopping at first to understand what you like and what works for you. I like the green tea afterwards because it's soothing and a good end to the session. By far the best yoga class I have experienced! Keshava and Radha are incredibly skilled, knowledgeable, PASSIONATE and provide individualized attention and support. I was introduced to this class via a Groupon-so visited many other yoga studios throughout the city and outer boroughs. This was an experience that compared to none of the others. I always feel reguvenated and relaxed after each class! Slower moving pace (which I like) while still presenting challenge and a great mind and body workout! Keshava Radha Yoga has become one of my most favorite places, whenever I am there I feel welcomed and cared for! It's an oasis of peace in the middle of busy midtown Manhattan. The classes are taught by only two people: Keshava and Radha, they are also the owners. Both are excellent teachers; caring and attentive. When you come to a class here you can be sure you will be treated graciously and come away feeling terrific! When I first took a class at Keshava and Radha's studio more than a year ago I was using a Groupon that offered classes at multiple yoga studios. Once I tried this studio, I never even bothered to finish the Groupon classes at the other locations. I was at the beginning very new to yoga and my experience with all the other yoga studios had involved being ordered into poses who's names I didn't know or understand. I had felt like I was a burden or wasting the teacher's time. When I arrived at Keshava Radha Yoga I experienced the first class that didn't feel like a bootcamp. I received very personal and knowledgeable attention from both Keshava and Radha. Their gentle, hands-on approach to teaching feels very kind and down to earth. I have never felt intimidated or overwhelmed in their classes. I leave every class feeling stronger, lighter, and happier than when I come in (sometimes a little more sore, but always in a good way). They offer classes at a variety of times throughout the day and week, each class is unique as Radha and Keshava are excellent at tailoring each class to the abilities of their students. The classes are not ranked (ie. level 1, level 2, etc.), everyone is welcome at any class. This is just part of what makes Keshava Radha Yoga such a welcoming and special place! I recently brought my good friend, who had never tried yoga, to an evening class here and she had an amazing and lasting experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Keshava Radha Yoga to those starting their practice or looking to continue and expand it! And did I mention the tea? I must say I was extremely shocked and disappointed with these people. I had bought a 10-class package here for something like $108, and had really enjoyed the classes. However, I could not continue going because I simply couldn't afford it anymore. Then, when I saw that there was a Groupon deal, I jumped at the chance. I also convinced my sister to get the deal too, and we both went yesterday to redeem the deal and start classes..... ONLY TO BE TURNED AWAY. Yes. flat-out REFUSED. They looked at me and said, "the Groupon is only for new students." I read the fine print on the deal: it says for "new customers or people who have not used services in the last 12 months." I interpreted this as meaning, people who haven't used the Groupon deal in the last year. But I was told, "no, only for new students. You're going to have to get a refund." WHY would the fine print say "blablabla OR blablabla"? if it means the same thing? (new customer = those who have not used services... OR implies they are different things...!) ANYWAY details aside, I was just flat out told, either you pay for the full-price class fee RIGHT NOW, or GO AWAY. Just go, Just get a refund. Forget about the fact that we were acting mad friendly to you during the time you were a full-price paying student. I'm not even a CURRENT STUDENT, my class pack expired months ago, and I finally get a chance to resume my yoga practice through this deal, and I'm just TURNED AWAY. I could not believe my eyes, ears, or anything. I mean these are some HEARTLESS PEOPLE man... (FYI, the classroom was nowhere NEAR bursting at the seams. I mean there was PLENTY of room for one more!!!) Even Integral Yoga, which I thought was mad corporate and money-oriented, just let me do one class when I showed up one day not realizing that my 1-month pass had expired. I MEAN WHAT IS YOGA PEOPLE? These people claim they spent more than a decade in an ashram in India... DID THEY NOT TEACH BASIC COMPASSION??? There are NO regularly scheduled community classes here, this place is for the super rich ONLY. How they had the nerve to just flat out tell us to go away or pay full price, I CANNOT understand it.... SMH man, SMH!!!!!!!!!!! (and the fact that I brought in a new student, my sister?) Some ugly shit man.... They were all smiley friendly oh~ we are from India! Welcome! HaHA! BUT YOU BETTER PAY FULL PRICE AND WE'RE GOING TO FORGET YOU IF YOU SHOW UP WITH A DISCOUNT DEAL. I'm just emotionally traumatized by this. I thought these people were my friends, especially the main instructor, Keshava. You know that sinking feeling in your stomach when you realize that somebody is 2-faced? That they're going to GO THERE and they just did?
