I'm a bit obsessed with the hygienic approach to someone putting their hands in my mouth, if I see they have touched tools or trays or other supplies that may not have been adequately sterilized, I get creeped out. I felt like my dental assistant was especially concerned with making sure that everything was as sterile as possible and she wasn't touching her own hair or face during my cleaning. She did a great job with my cleaning, totally pain free and didn't push for me to have other services and the dentist relied on my somewhat recent ex-rays. I can't believe this place has bad reviews! We were referred by a friend years ago and have always had a great experience here. Dr. B and the rest of the staff and so knowledgeable, gentle, and kind. I have never had any issues with my insurance or them trying to sell me anything I didn't need. They can sometimes get booked up for cleanings since they are popular, but in a pinch, they got me in for a small chip in a matter of 2 days! I love this dentist! read more

Upon relocating to Phoenixville from Florida, I was looking for a dental practice who I could work together to care for my oral health on a long term basis. It has now been nearly a year and after giving them ample time to show their colors, I have ended up extremely disappointed. Firstly, the people who handle the schedule are totally inflexible, and unwilling to work with the patient. Two weeks after scheduling my second cleaning (I go every three months), I realized that I had a conflict, and needed to reschedule. I was told that they were totally booked for the next five months and that I would have to wait. I asked to be put on their cancellation list, but never heard from the. Only when I called back, and told them, I wanted my money back (I had paid in advance for their annual plan - they refused), did they make any sign of flexibility by finding me a slot a month earlier. Of greater concern to me is the poor training of the two different hygenists I had. The first one did not even polish my teeth and i was in and out of the appointment in 20 minutes. The second hygenist subjected me to her right wing politics (obviously, with an instrument in my mouth, I was unable to respond). More seriously, again no polishing of my teeth. She pushed a flouride treatment on me for an additional $35 to which I agreed. She never did it. When I questioned this, she said she would do it after the doctor looked at my teeth. My husband and I had our initial visit with the Kessler practice yesterday and found everyone to be friendly and professional. Joy was my hygienist and she was skilled and very pleasant, and my husband had the same good things to say about Jennifer, his hygienist, as well. Expected that our initial visit would include cleanings, but found that we needed to schedule two more visits to get that completed and unable to schedule closer than 6 weeks out, but was put on a cancellation list in an effort to get in sooner, so that was unexpected, but okay. Had anticipated Dr. Kessler would be my dentist since I said, "I'd like to make an appointment with Dr.Kessler," when I made the appointment, but Dr. Phillips was the dentist who did our consultation, and she was great! She gave a thorough explanation and very good advice, even suggesting a procedure that would be less costly for me, as the patient, because it would prevent a possible complication which could have an negative aesthetic result for me, and I certainly appreciated that, as a former dentist I had been to had suggested an implant for that tooth, and was quite adamant about that. They did offer a special oral cancer screening for an extra $30 fee, each, but that is something everyone should have done, and the price was reasonable in my estimation. They also gave us a welcome bag containing some very nice items, unexpected, but very much appreciated. So far, so good! read more

I needed to find a local dentist who accepts my insurance. I came in with a broken tooth. They gave me an appointment within a few days of my call. (No pain. They were very caring in scheduling.) The office staff were very helpful and flexible getting me into their system. They worked with my insurance co. By the time I got there, they were knowledgeable about my coverage, which I wasn't. Dr. B (Baiasubramian) was wonderful. She took time to talk with me about the condition. She recommended a conservative course of care. I left with a modern filling, replacing the metal last century model, and appts for cleaning and follow up crown. I am very pleased with the caring and professional treatment I received. Cost of care seems reasonable. Adjusting to retirement and less comprehensive insurance is a little easier, having found a great dental practice I can afford. read more

Dr. Kessler has been my dentist for about 20 years, give or take. I am extremely satisfied with the practice. The quality of dentistry is extremely high--I've seen all the dentists there at one time or another, in addition to Dr. Kessler, and felt in excellent hands. The office staff is also very nice--they are accommodating when you have an emergency, need to reschedule, and they are always, always friendly. Not the norm for dentistry practices. Finally, the hygienists and other professional assistants are all very good at their jobs and make being there actually fun. I have never had "fun" at any other doctor's or dentist office. It's just a well run and easy going practice with highly credentialed, friendly professionals who provide top-notch, friendly care, and make the billing and insurance process easy. read more

My experience was amazing! It was 3 years since I had been to a dentist and came upon the Kessler group. Every staff member was polite and friendly. Having sensed some of my anxiety, the nurses and dentist reviewed each step of a procedure and checked in every now and then to make sure I was handling it okay. Great experience! Great staff! The atmosphere of this office and the staff is quite unfriendly, not what you'd hope for in visiting a dentist's office. I am torn here on the rating. I would give the dental hygienist, Lori, 5 stars. She was very thorough, and really took pride in doing her job well. She explained what she was doing as she went. I can't say the same for the dentist, Dr. Kessler, or the office staff. Those I would rate 1 star. It was my first visit, yet the dentist spent minimal time with me, blowing in and out of the room in about 5 minutes, and made virtually no eye contact. It was so noticeably strange that he spoke without looking at me that I had to comment on it. I also found it difficult to get a set of the electronic X-rays that were taken. Though I had already paid for them and everything these days is digital, they wanted to charge an additional $15 "processing fee" to email them to me. The office staff member who emailed back and forth did not sign any name, just signed it Axler-Kessler Dental. I don't know about you, but I don't wish to go to a dentist where the front office staff won't tell you their name. I had planned to try the other dentist the next time for a cleaning and exam, but I'm afraid I'll be looking for a new office. I would never return to this one. read more

Lon is one of my favorite dentists I have been to. I have been a patient for about 5 years now and have received excellent dental work. The rest of the staff (office staff and hygienists) are always so nice to me, and checking in is super quick, so I assume they have everything sorted on the back end of things too. I was skeptical at first but I'm actually really glad that I gave it a chance. They are definitely a great practice filled with competent people. I switched from my old dentist because they dropped the ball so many times. Coming here has been a really great change of pace for me and my family. read more

I've been going here for a while, even though there are many dentists closer to where I live. I've stuck with then for 5 different moves because they are that good! Dr. Hemmer is very nice and takes the time to explain things and/or answer any questions you might have. The front desk staff is friendly and efficient, I've never had to dispute a bill and I'm always called back for my appointment on time. I've never needed extreme dental work, however, so I can't speak for them in those areas. The best part of this office, however, is Donna the dental hygienist. She's friendly and efficient and super caring. I tend to get a little panicky with the x-rays and non-stop cleaning, I feel like I can't breathe. Donna takes her time, gives me breaks and makes the x-rays as quick and comfortable as could be. I was sad when Dr. Axler retired, I'll be devastated when Donna does! I'd recommend this practice to anyone searching for a quality family dentist. read more

I have been going to Dr. Kessler literally since my first teeth cleaning (so that's 26 years) and refuse to go anywhere else. Even though I live in Philly now, it is well worth the drive to know I am getting quality care. The staff is always friendly and answer my questions thoroughly. Just had a crown replaced. The dentist, Dr. B., is as gentle and skilled as they come. She is also very patient and gracious (I broke my temporary crown twice--Not a word or look of censure from her!). The doctors and staff treated me like a rock star while I was being fitted, they answered all of my questions and were very knowledgeable. For the last year and a half I felt tired all day at work and couldn't sleep in bed with my wife due to my snoring. Now with the sleep appliance, I wake up well rested and I'm back in bed with my wife! The sleep appliance doesn't take long to get used to and is well worth the expense. This office shouldn't even receive one star. Someone in HR has some explaining to do. There is a hygienist taking patients who clearly was never taught a thing about how to be a decent human being. I was 16 when I had my first visit with Axler/Kessler. My mom and my sister both promised me that everyone at the office was very nice and gentle. HA! The first thing the hygienist had asked was the last time I had seen a dentist, which had been awhile because my parents' insurance had changed. She took five minutes to rip me a new one because I should've been seeing dentists for the prior two years and I hadn't and my teeth were in just awful shape. I was 16. She eventually went on with her examination only to notice I had a bunch of cavities (no dentist for two years plus soft enamel equals cavities). This woman starts grilling me about my extra curricular activities. At that time, I was a serious dancer, practicing 7 days a week; I was in all honors classes at school and a member of NHS. She asked if I smoked, drank, or ever made myself throw up. I said no. She brought my mom into the room and asked the same questions again. I gave her the same answers, and then she asked my mom to leave. She then said "Okay, mommy dearest is gone. Now tell me the truth!" I told her I was telling the truth. This woman had it set in her head that I was a binge drinking, chain smoking, bulimic head case because it was impossible that I had such soft enamel. She then told me I'd be lucky if I made it to 25 without dentures (which resulted in several nightmares of my teeth falling out). The only good news she gave me was that my wisdom teeth wouldn't give me any trouble. It's 8 years later, I still have all of my teeth, and my wisdom teeth are giving me so many problems. The funny thing is THIS WOMAN STILL WORKS THERE. My dad saw her a few months back, and he has issues with heavy plaque build up. She got so frustrated with him that she asked him if he even brushed his teeth that morning. Needless to say, it's not worth playing Russian Roulette with this practice. The rest of the hygienists there are nice, but why risk the possibility of encountering this woman? Do yourself and your family a favor and go elsewhere!!!! read more
