On Tuesday I got a call asking if I could change the appoinment to 11:00 am and agreed. I arrived at the office at 10:45 AM because I knew there would be paperwork and I did not want to take more of their time from my appointment. I filled out the paperwork and took exception with them asking me to sign a form stating that they could use my personal info for advertising and marketing. Dr Patel came out and after a bit of back and forth said it would be OK if I did not sign it. Then I was taken back to a room where Stephani went over what would be done, First she would take Xrays, then she would do my cleaning and finally Dr patel would do an exam. The first part went great as Syephani was very bthorough and professional in doing the Xrays. Then Stepahani left and rather than doing my cleaning she returned with Dr Patel. Dr Patel then did a visual exam and started going over very detailed treatment plan options which I thought was professional and agreeable. Next they both left the offce and Stephani said she would return in a few minutes and do my cleaning. Well this is where it fell apart. after sitting in the chair for about 25 minutes I got in the exam room at 11:00 AM ande it was now 12:15, since no one was around I called out and asked if they forgot about me. Dr Patel finally came in the office and when I explained that I was sitting for about 25 minutes and no one seemed to care. She then told me that Stephani was getting the info for me treatment plan, I then told her that I felt I was disrespected and my cleaning was secondary to their getting info on my treatment plan. Dr Patel took exception to this and asked me to leave as she did not want to treat me. I tried to tell her that I had been there for over an hour for what I thought would be a cleaning , Xrays and exam. She then told me she did not like my attitude earlier in the office and she did not want to treat me. I then went to the front office and since they were not going to treat me if I could get the Xrays sent to another office. I was originally told that I would have to go thru my insurance as they were the ones paying for the Xrays. Then the office manager said the would email them to me.I gave them my Email address and left thew office. I then noticed I had been in the office for about 2 hours and no other patients were there or were in the waiting room. Then it made sence as to why they wanted me to change the time of my appointment as it does not seem to be a very busy practice.

They've also given me like two different reasons why august, one is that they are remodeling, so the offices are closed, the other is that the lady who does them is having hand surgery in a month, so they are training someone else to be able to take her place when she is out for another month or so, both conveniently coming out to august. First of all, I asked if my insurance would cover my regular dental checkup and was told it would. I in fact discovered after the fact that this office was out of network, which led me to incur personal expenses out of pocket. As these are almost always avoidable, I found this very disappointing. Second, I was given an XRay without being warned of the possibility that I would have to pay out of pocket for it. Apparently the XRay that was provided was a special type of XRay that is only covered for me once every few years, while a normal XRay would have been covered. I'm disappointed that I was not informed about this, as it would have saved me literally hundreds of dollars. Third, I discovered that the office never filed a claim with my insurance provider, meaning I wasn't going to receive even a partial reimbursement from my insurance. It wasn't until 7 weeks later when I inquired about the status of my case that the admins at Omene filed this claim. The dental practice itself seems to be high quality but given that I've never had so many problems on the administrative side before, I felt that this was a fair score.

So I set out to find a new place. Mind you I had a tooth that had just gone through a root canal, so time was of the essence. 1-800-DENTIST led me here. Since it is close to my work, I gave them a try. They got me in within a few days. Now, I could bore you with a lot of details, but I'll get to the point. The nature of my crown was fairly difficult, way in the back bottom molar. So difficult that in the end I made 4 visits here to get it right. Let's just say they got to know me really well the past month. Now, you may be saying to yourself, "Why would he give them 5 stars if they made him come back 4 times? Isn't that a bad thing?" You see, most people wouldn't consider that a positive experience. At my old dentist it wouldn't be. But there's a reason I am praising the Smile Exchange. I spent years in customer service. I was on the service side, and in quality control. I consider myself an expert on how it works. Smile Exchange treats you like a valued customer. They realize they are a service industry. Not every dental place does this. Along the way, Dr. Rolotti explained every reason why things were happening the way they were in great detail.
