My sister, a cardiac ICU intensivist, did a lot of research before settling on Kessler. Our mother having an LVAD we're in a special situation but Kessler was ready to take on the added challenge and the therapists who would be working with her received special LVAD training. First impression of Kessler's outpatient rehab program is great. Accompanying my mother for after stroke care. Elisa, Andrea and crew are pretty awesome. Will update as we go thru her stint in rehab. PT, OT and Speech/Swallow therapy. Outpatient rehab is located at the back of the complex. There is plenty of free parking. read more

The star rating says it all! Never let a hospital manipulate into going to a center your not sure of! The nurses here were RUDE and CONDESCENDING! If they had read my husbands report, maybe he would of had better care. read more

I've been through Kessler inpatient, 3times now. Aka left leg. Total replacement right hip. And back surgery. The nursing staff well treated me like that actually care and helped me through some dark times....the inpatient occupational therapy and group meetings helped! There in patient physical therapist also very good and knowledgeable and helped me tremendously... I've been in and out three times now so I know about all of them main ones that took care of me when I was in patient were Emily Bart OP. And Elizabeth Hansen PT. They really treated me very professional I made me feel very welcome waiting to ask any question no matter how small it was to them I owe them a lot!!! My outpatient therapist Andrea Varone I've been going to at least three times now happens to be the one that runs the amp and action meetings. Along with help from Elizabeth Hansen....I had time to do some research before my amputed my leg..Andrea opened up the meeting and gave me some very good guidance they both also gave me info on what the difference between the prosthetic companies, and the members in the group gave me all kinds of information about all kinds of different doctors and hospitals Andrea has always made me feel like I was one of her most important patience , all of the patient therapist have you seen me from time to time awesome.. I started off in a wheelchair 15 years ago I'd had my doctorate did my amputation give me a 60 to 80% chance I would never make it out of the chair well with everybody shop at Kessler inpatient and outpatient I am now starting to walk with a cane not much longer. Sucker me going to I just can't thank everybody over there enough and that goes for the doctors in the hospital too very caring I will always listen when you have something to say thank you all from the bottom of my heart Bob Schmidt. read more

This is with regard to the location on Ferry St, in Newark. I understand this is a Spanish/Portuguese area, but to have English speaking clients, and continue to talk to your co-workers constantly, and think that I don't have a clue, is ignorant. First day: the PT assigned to me went over my personal information right out in the open, loudly where everyone could hear. She then showed me how to do exercises so fast, that I thought we were playing Simon Says, so I asked if she could slow down. She seemed to get a little irritated after that. She would show me something to do, and go away. Once I was done, she was either on the computer, working on another patient, or holding long discussions with her co-worker. She could have told me, when you are done take a break, or had advised me on what to do next, just in case she was with another client. So, when I stood there, she seemed to get a a bit more irritated.I wanted to keep going, especially the first day, and I was in extremely severe pain. I also so that there were no women there. Second Day: I got a call from the receptionist, to come in at 8 that morning. My appointment was supposed to be around 9 or 10. I got there early and the door was locked. I looked for a place to eat and when I got back, two other clients, males were waiting outside. It's now after 8 and no one has showed up that worked there. Eventually a PT comes, not mine and opens up. She comes in and starts doing what she does.I asked her what should I do, and she tells me to wait for my PT, this is my 2nd day. My PT comes in and it's 8:30 or so. She does what she has to do then comes to me. Actually, most of it is a blur because I was not happy. Moving along; after I did a couple of exercises, I saw that she was performing manipulations on a client. So, I went to her co-worker who was sitting behind one of the desks, and asked what should I do next. She said I had to wait on her. my PT. I talked to her for a minute. When I looked around my PT was behind me, looking at me with her hands on her hip, like why am I talking to her co-worker. She asked me what am I doing? I asked if I not to talk to her, she said no. I was livid. I went and sat down to get the heat, and she put it on the wrong shoulder. She and her co-worker started talking in their language, and went to a back room. Upon leaving I asked the receptionist if I could change locations. I went right to my car and changed. Third day: Another location, I was out! read more

I am a current outpatient. I love this placed and the people. I work with Waba but also have worked with Dwight Darcy Tyler and Kate. They are so professional it is challenging and actually helping me. I have MS and they have tailor made a program just for me. We work hard but also laugh. Juana the assistant is so attentive and I watch Andrea work with the amputees and it amazes me how gentle but also firm she is to help them succeed.
