Wellll as you've heard people say, "if you cld give this placed 0 stars you would!" We were one of Dr. Himstree's very first clients when he was first starting out. My son had a very strange reaction to the ketamine on his last appointment. It was just not set up like a professional clinic. Dr. Himstree, still, I liked and was very knowledgeable about what he was doing just the set up not good. We never went back until recently when I called inquiring to start my son back up again. Had several different calls over there in the last 3 days. Someone different every time. Deborah was the worst. Very rude, unprofessional and would constantly talk over you when you were in the middle of telling her some thing. This morning I asked a simple question, "do family members get a discount for having a family member as a vet?" She replied "are they the one coming in to the clinic?!" I told her no but I thought I was told the day before by someone else that a family member could get a discount if a close family member was a vet. She said "NOBODY TOLD YOU THAT!!" I snapped back that "someone certainly did, do you think I just pulled it our of thin air??" she said it again, said the same thing! This lady is off her rocker! I said "I have to go" in which SHE hung up on me. I have NEVER talked to anyone whose scheduling clients, (and mind you, for a type of treatment clinic like this is... people who are calling to get help with severe anxiety and depression etc; )are being treated this way??? I spoke with a woman with an accent as well a few days ago that took 5 tries to just get my email right. It was exhausting trying to even have a conversation with her. When I asked Michelle the NP about the urine testing that they do as we've never had to do that before and in calling around this is not some thing most of these clinics do unless during intake the doctor feels suspicious about the person and feels a need to. I spoke with 6 clinics today, highly rated that said that don't do this. I told her the clinic my daughter has been going to for a year has never done this. She said "aren't you worried!" NOPE! Michelle was very defensive right from the getgo, instead of asking questions and even trying to understand I'm not! as this is not normal practice. unless you have a druggy looking person walking through the door(you can usually tell, it's obvious). But that unprofessional comment back and rudeness of these people. I will NEVER EVER go back there. PLEASE LOOK AT THEIR REVIEWS. PEOPLE ARE SAYING THE SAME THING! The Deborah lady who is the receptionist is a real piece of work and needs to be gone. She is not helping this business. Thank God we saw who these people working there were for who they are. My son who was going to get treated was sitting by me when I was talking with Deborah and when I hung up said "it doesn't sound like a very nice place mom, I don't want to go and I'm not giving them a urine sample like I'm getting drug tested, this is weird". We are going to another clinic that is almost half the price!! And so kind and compassionate. I like Dr. Himstree and hope he can get this group figured out working there. He's a very nice person but my goodness, run if you are looking for a team of compassionate caring and professional people!!! This isn't it. It was shocking. read more

This place is wonderful! The atmosphere is so relaxing. The staff is amazing! They are so kind and accommodating. They work really hard for you to have a good experience. I love the bean bag rooms. The women staff were so rude and condescending. It's completely disorganized and unprofessional. On multiple occasions now I asked if I could do a consultation over the phone, they said I didn't, then due to traffic I was late and when I came into the office they said I could've just done the consultation over the phone. My friend was with me and we asked simple, clarifying questions and they were so rude in their responses. They gave me wrong information they then treated me like I was stupid. I couldn't even. I refuse to pay people who put other people down like that. Totally uncalled for and not a friendly environment. Definitely not a place I'd want to do my first ketamine treatment. read more

I've suffered with moderate depression since I was in the first grade but I always managed to push forward and lived a productive life. Six years ago that all changed. I suffered a very traumatic experience that left me with PTSD. I got past the suicidal part, but for years, I felt like a shell of a person and I struggled to interact with my children after getting home from work. I would get triggered often without warning and spent a lot of time sleeping. Sometimes as much as I possibly could. I felt there was little hope. My partner had been reading up on ketamine therapy and encouraged me to try it but there was no way I thought I could afford it. When I heard about this clinic I decided I would try it. I withdrew money from my retirement because I was afraid that if I didn't do something, the depression and PTSD would continue to slowly kill me. I'm so glad I did. The first trip was the hardest. I went back anyway. The staff worked with me to find ways to make the experience more manageable. My mom took me to my first appointment and I think she was a little nervous when she saw the "nontraditional" atmosphere. She later told me she was relieved to see the staff was monitoring my blood pressure and taking care of me. Went in with my girlfriend for her appointment, we asked how to enter the office (it's in a office complex) and they told us they didn't know? When we finally got there everything seemed in disarray and super disorganized the office was grungy and bad. We waited for over an hour to be seen only to find out the dr wasn't even there. super sketchy place seems like it's essentially just a front for people to do drugs. read more

Dorothy-Jean's ad-hominem attack on Dr. Hiemstra calls for a response. Since Dorothy-Jean is such a fan of the heavily regulated psychiatric approach to mental well-being, let's see where that approach has gotten ME during the last 60 years of my depressed existence. Psychiatry first addicted me to Valium, which it took me a decade to finally wean myself off of. Next it tried Ritalin, which it addicted me to for another five years. Then it introduced its so-called "silver bullets," drugs like Prozac and Buspar, which it addicted me to for another 20 years - finally, shunting me off onto Effexor, an SNRI that is so addictive that my own psychiatrist told me I might as well not bother trying to get off it. A recent NIH study has shown that Effexor has a 95% recidivism rate for those who attempt to quit using it, a recidivism rate far worse than those attempting to withdraw from heroin or cocaine. I need hardly add that none of these medicines worked satisfactorily for me in removing my depression, since I wouldn't be thinking about alternatives like ketamine had Big Pharma's meds been the "silver bullets" that they were claimed to be, often by TV talking heads who were getting paid by Big Pharma to "big up" the latest addictive psychiatric pills. Not only did psychiatry's wonder drugs fail to work satisfactorily for me, but they turned me into an eternal patient, forcing me to visit my shrink every three months and give him intimate details of my personal life - before he would write another pro forma prescription for his addictive pills. I continue to find that demoralizing, time-consuming, and expensive to this very day. Nor do these drugs fix a chemical imbalance in the brain, a claim that Boston Globe columnist Robert Whitaker has refuted in his book "Anatomy of an Epidemic"; instead, they actually CREATE the imbalances that they purport to fix. Last but not least, these "miracle drugs" were never created or studied for long-term use -- meaning that folks like myself are guinea pigs for their long-term effects, one of which has turned out to be anhedonia, the deadening of all highs and lows in one's emotional life. This is the history of modern psychiatry in my life, the psychiatry that Dorothy-Jean wants me to depend upon for my safety and well-being, as if psychiatry sets the gold standard in those areas. Nonsense. The whole point of ketamine is that it's a drug that (despite Dorothy's rhetoric) is non-addictive at therapeutic doses and when used in a therapeutic regimen. That's a huge step forward compared to the chemical dependence created by Big Pharma meds. It is one of a handful of new psychedelic (and pseudo-psychedelic) treatments for depression that are finally getting grudging approval by our drug-warrior government, at least for research purposes. Ketamine is one of the first in this category to be approved for use with actual patients, and the last thing we need now is for uninformed Big Pharma fans like Dorothy-Jean to destroy this one patient alternative to the demoralizing and addictive status quo of modern psychiatry. Dorothy-Jean is downright disdainful of the fact that "anyone" can walk in to Dr. Hiemstra's office and get affordable treatment for their depression. I have to admit, that is no doubt a novelty from the current psychiatric point of view, but it is a novelty to be encouraged, not to be scorned. Instead, Dorothy-Jean hopes to shut down one of the few ketamine outlets in the country whose services are actually affordable for everyday Americans. Spravato sounds like a great alternative to ketamine, except for the patronizing requirement that the substance only be used in the presence of one's doctor (an onerous requirement that obliterates most of the benefits of administering esketamine via nasal spray). But what Dorothy-Jean fails to point out is that J&J requires that users of Spravato must continue using any Big Pharma antidepressant that they have been previously prescribed. Yes, they require that an addict of Big Pharma remain an addict in order to use this new drug. So Spravato itself is a part of the problem: the rules governing its use are clearly written to ensure that Big Pharma remains in control of modern depression therapy, and that folks who want to rely solely on the new non-addictive treatment paradigm are out of luck, at least if, like myself and millions of other Americans, they've already been hooked on SSRIs. So if you're depressed, people, don't let folks like Dorothy-Jean take this godsend Ketamine treatment away from you. Send your own letter to Utah's DOPL, asking them to refrain from punishing Dr. Hiemstra for bringing affordable and (finally) non-addictive help to the depressed. If you want to rat on anybody, send a letter to the DOPL demanding that they stop licensing psychiatrists who willfully addict their patients to modern anti-depressants. read more

Let me start by saying, ketamine works and you should absolutely seek ketamine therapy for your depression, PTSD and anxiety. Just DO NOT do it here. They are basically a ketamine profit center. They do not care about you as an individual. They profit off mental illness and the fact that ketamine actually works. I did my first initial 6 sessions here, with no problem other than the fact that they try to rush you out of there under the influence of heavy drugs. I just went in yesterday for my first booster, which is 3 separate shots of your heaviest dose. After receiving my third shot, I was still heavily drugged and wasn't coming down yet, did not know what was going on and they moved me from my comfortable treatment room to a room (I couldn't even open my eyes or stand up yet) with 3 hard plastic chairs and no cameras to monitor me. For someone who couldn't speak in my own defense, stand up or walk on my own, they expected me to sit upright in uncomfortable chairs to recover. I ended up on the floor during a COVID pandemic to recover because of their lack of caring. They had no qualms to get other patients in there to make that money though. The fact that they don't consider recovery times for people on heavy doses of psychedelic drugs is beyond me. read more

I don't understand some of these other reviews. This place is very professional and very clean and organized. I've had major depressive disorder and ptsd that has been untreatable for about 20 years and the only thing that has ever helped me is these ketamine treatments. I've always been given more than enough time to come down before going home and was always only ever released to someone who had to sign me out as my driver and they wheeled me in a wheelchair right to the passenger door of my drivers car. I was never rushed and they also wouldn't give me a treatment until My blood pressure was at a safe level since I have high blood pressure. I've had 6 treatments and 1 booster and I'm scheduling another booster soon. I've always felt very safe and well taken care of at this place and after 10 plus suicide attempts over the last 5 years (before getting treatments) it has kept me from being anywhere near that type of depression/ptsd after just my first treatment and helped me live a much more normal life now. I've been waiting a month to get my refund. I prepaid for a series of 6 treatments. My first treatment was a really bad trip which can't be fully blamed on the clinic as everyone reacts differently to Ketamine. But since I decide to stop and have the payments refunded it's been like pulling teeth trying to get my money back. They won't refund it to my card, they send a refund check in the mail. To first request the refund it took 3 phone calls to finally get ahold of someone who said that it would be processed. After a week, no refund. It takes a few more calls to finally get the office manager who again promises that it will get taken care of right away. Fast forward 2 1/2 weeks and still no refund. I call for the 5th time, ask to wait on hold until the office manager is available. He tells me that things in their billing department have been backed up. I insist this has to get processed immediately. He says the best he can do is have it processed in 48 hours. I say that's not good enough. He just keeps repeating, 48 hours is the best he can do. Very, very unprofessional. I'm thinking of having my bank reverse the charge on my credit card. read more
