This has been my go-to bottle shop for quite some time. They consistently get an interesting selection of beers which aren't available at any of the grocery stores. Once they started offering food, it's become a favorite spot for my wife and I to enjoy lunch while sampling draft beers from their excellent tap list. Stopped in on a Sunday as they were the only brewing supply place open, and I was pleasantly surprised. Loads of brewing supplies, on-site brewing available using their copper kettles and a bar ouring multiple brews on tap and selling a wide variety of cans. Most of what is on tap is also available in 32 oz crowlers. I got everything I needed for bottling my beer, a few additions that I needed and got to taste some delicious brews and have a snack before heading out. Great little brew supply store! read more

They've got a very capable Brewing set-up whether you know nothing about Brewing or quite a bit it's an interesting place. I would say if you have any interest in Homebrewing it's absolutely worth trying. They also have a bar and pretty good food options while you wait. If you're not used to Brewing you'll figure out that waiting is a significant part of it. Well it's not cheap, it's investment worth making if you have any interest. We've gotten plenty of positive feedback on the beer we brewed at kettles and Grains. read more

When the store first opened, I was very excited to have a homebrew supply shop so close because we don't have any nearby. The place is a little confusing to get to the first time because it's in a fairly new development. The first time I walked into the store I was absolutely amazed at how beautiful the store looked. They are down to earth and extremely knowledgeable about their store but also the industry. So, I could stop there and say thanks for opening the store. But... There's more to being in business than just opening up, and these guys do it all. Their level of service, dedication to the art of brewing, and commitment to quality ingredients is amazing. So glad to have a LHBS nearby. Have been there several times and they have a great variety of grains/hops/yeast. Brewed a Grapefruit Sculpin clown, a Belgian, and getting ready to brew a Belgian Quad with ingredients from their shop. They also have a great craft beer selection. Talk about cool. This place is a completely hidden gem. When you walk in you feel welcomed, which to me is really unique for a brew supply store because typically everyone is too "cool" to answer your questions or makes me feel like an idiot. Not here though!! Everyone that worked here was over the top friendly and so willing to give advice without seeming snobby. They have brew classes here and all the supplies/ chemicals/ bottles, flavors and books you could ask for. They also have some cool hot sauces, local honey, a few local brews and a service that will allow you to brew right in their store! Wow, this place is stunning, clean, well-organized and has everything a homebrewer could need; plus a healthy selection of hard to find craft beer in bottles, cans and bombers. The owners are extremely personable, and knowledgeable. The only reason K&G doesn't get five stars is the prices. Granted, your average local homebrew shop cant compete with MoreBeer.com and the like on price. But K&G is quite a bit pricier than most shops (20% to 40%). That said, I will definitely be back to K&G and am happy to pay a little extra to support such a nice shop. read more

This is not only a great place to pick up brewing supplies or brew a batch with your friends or coworkers, but it's my favorite place in Leesburg to meet friends for a beer. Their slogan "no crap on tap" is true. You're not going to find Budweiser here, only great craft beers. AND unlike Fireworks , you'll always have a seat unless there is a special event going on. The Pros: Super clean place, tons of ingredients available, so you should almost certainly find what you are looking for. Not sure exactly who I dealt with today, but he was really nice, friendly and helpful. Definitely looks like a fun place to hang out and brew on prem (if you don't have your own equipment). Cons: the only con was the pricing. I bought 17.5 lbs of grain, 5 packs of hop pellets and 3 vials of WL California Ale yeast, and it was $85..I almost fell over. Comparatively speaking, when I added the exact same ingredients into a cart at northern brewer, it was $61, with $7.99 flat shipping...so just about $70, delivered to my door. Maybe $15 isn't that big of a deal, but when you brew as much as I do, it adds up. So I don't know that I'll be using them for my regular brewing supply shop, but certainly nice to have them so close if I need stuff in a pinch. read more

Didn't know this place existed, haven't seen any advertising. Glad I found it! Under their staff's guidance you can brew your own beer on premises. Then come back two weeks later and bottle it. Sounds awesome. I went it to just check the place out and walked out with 5 bottles microbrews. The selection of brews is mainly comprised of dark beers and ales. I like pilsners but couldn't find any. They did have a pilsner recipe for the on-site brew which I'm definitely going back to brew and give it a try. The owner was there and she was extremely helpful. I would definitely go back to brew and purchase different microbrews. read more

Working in the service industry it is always great to find a place that actually cares. I can't think of one bad thing to say about K & G. They keep a nice rotating selection of bottles on the shelves and on tap for growler fills. Everyone that works there is always happy to discuss beer and give suggestions on what to try. I have not tried the BOP yet but once work slows down in the winter it is the first thing I plan to do on a Saturday afternoon. Things tend to run a dollar or so more than in your typical grocery store. What they provide in service, knowledge and selection is worth far more in my opinion. I did a brew session with Kettle and Grain in the summer of 2014 through a groupon. In short, you pick a beer type and they walk you through a brew session which yields about two cases. The staff here is extraordinary friendly and knowledgable. They explain everything about the brewing process and monitor your brew session very closely. I really enjoyed the process and the help they provided. Unfortunately, my IPA was over carbonated. I'm not sure what happened as they kept a very close eye on everything I did and I kept the beer in semi cool area after bottling for a couple of week as instructed. The beer was sort of drinkable but I was hoping for more after spending a little over $100. That said, I wasn't 'terribly upset since I did brew the beer and it was more about the learning experience. On bottling day, I did bring a bunch of empty bottles but unfortunately they needed to undergo a sanitation process since I live in Fairfax, I didn't want to drive all the way. I really wished they would have given a heads up about this as I ended up spending another chunk of change to buy empty bottles from them in what already turning into an expensive outing. Beyond the brew shop, they have a nice bottle shop as well. Overall, good experience with some flaws though. read more

I find with ingredients and products I can save money ordering online, but it's nice to see the quality of product your getting and know it's fresh from the start. Awesome place, they always have the supplies I need and the people who work there are very friendly and helpful. I like their craft beer selection too, I get distracted looking at their bottles for sale. The only word of caution I can think of is that their in-house grain mill is too coarse - the latest batch of grain I bought wasn't crushed nearly well enough so I had to mill it again. So pay close attention to your grain crush and make sure it's where you want it before you leave. I'm sure they would be glad to help with that though. read more

This place is awesome. I tried another brew shop closer to my house and it was an incredible disappointment. But then I found this place. It is incredibly clean and well-organized. The people working here (the owners, I believe) are not only knowledgeable about what they're doing, they're passionate about it and thrilled to share their knowledge and advice with you if you want it. I am just starting to learn to brew and have really enjoyed my trips to K&G. It's 20 miles out of my way, each way, to go here rather than the shop closer to me, and I do it with a smile! read more

We had a corporate team event today and brewed three beers. This shop is fully stocked to support any brewing that you want to do. The set up, selection, brew kettles, chillers and storage are top notch. The team agreed that it was the best offsite they have ever done. Separately, as a personal brewer, they have a selection just as good as any online shop and great prices. I've been using this store for about a year now and can't imagine giving fewer than five stars. Prices? I have zero complaints. If I'm paying a dollar more for something, I'm doing it with a smile on my face because I'm supporting a local business (and the extremely friendly and helpful folks who went out on a limb to create it) without which, I'd be crushed. Its also become a bit of a low key, homebrew-cult hangout where you can relax with a cold beer, a hot Pretzel and chat with kindred spirits. I always look forward to my visits here. read more
