I recently moved to Wilmington, and I'm looking for an internist. I called Coastal Internal…read moreMedicine (CIM) and asked to speak to someone about the practice. I was transferred to Jane who identified herself as the front desk person. I asked about the number of medical staff in the practice, and how referrals are handled. Jane wasn't friendly and treated me as if she didn't understand why I would be asking questions about the practice. I asked to schedule an appointment, and Jane told me someone would call me on Monday (it was Friday) to schedule an appointment. I asked if I could make an appointment right then, and she said, "No." I never received a call from CIM. Based on other reviews found on Yelp, and my experience with CIM, I suggest finding another more reliable medical practice.

Unsafe Medical Advice and Lack of Compassion for Senior Care…read more I am writing this to caution other caregivers managing complex medical needs for senior parents. My mother was a patient at this practice, and the experience was deeply concerning. The Medical Advice: When I sought guidance with Jennifer Miller on how to safely wean my mother off a psychiatric medication (Cymbalta) that was causing extreme issues, the provider's advice was to stop it abruptly ("cold-turkey"). I was told to simply "let her go through withdrawals" and take her to the ER for an IV if she began vomiting or became dehydrated. As an advocate for my senior mother, I knew this was unsafe and unacceptable advice. My request to use a slow, compounded tapering method was completely ignored. The Outcome: I had to seek outside specialist care to find a safe path forward. After finding a new care team that supported the slow, compounded taper I had researched, my mother is doing significantly better. The extreme "crash and burn" cycles she was experiencing have stopped, and she is much more alert and present than she has been in months. The Office Environment: The lack of professionalism from Jennifer Miller's nurse was also a major issue. While trying to resolve a critical prescription delay for a medication my mother needs to eat (due to an esophageal condition), I was met with sarcasm and told, "We have other patients." My private concerns were repeated within earshot of others in the office, which was completely unprofessional and dismissive. Final Thought: If you have a loved one with sensitive or complex needs, please be your own advocate. We have moved to a new primary care physician and a psychiatrist who actually listen. My mother is finally in safe hands, no thanks to this practice.

They checked , but I have 2 deductibles, and they assured me 100% was covered . I still called my insurance company and it was one of the two deductible 100% or 30-70 split and since this is medical equipment it would be 30/70 split. Plus I have a state grant on my left ear. And so my insurance should only go through on my right. Nope. So I went through with new hearing tests. My hearing went down as expected. The New Dr sent me to her colleague the David G, Man , which I couldn't stand, that's why I miss Aimee Parker so dearly. Such a professional, at what she did and her team. When I got to Hannah Freys Colleague, he was rude crude and arrogant. I yelled at me and stated ' you can plainly hears these words these are everyday words' so in my coat pocket I turned on my hearing aids and with my Apple Watch what he said I responded back because o couldn't hear anything- so I made it sound like I could hear. I was fuming mad, for someone to tell me that I can't hear when I have been deaf since a car accident. Then I get billed for $1400.00 for guaranteed coverage on devices. Which we're clearly not.: so I told them they were taking them back at their costs and I have the text. I get to Dr Frey after Jaime, set up the appointment and at the end of resetting up my old devices to my phone, she states to me - ' we are not charging you a $200 restocked fee but I am charging you a reprogramming fee for $65 for the old devices- I'm thinking to myself you wouldn't have to reprogram them if y'all's would have done your job in the first place and ℹ programming to begin with and doubled and tripled check to make sure your clients insurance ls don't have two deductibles. Plus get harassed by doctors? I feel like I am just a number with a pocket book and they just want funds? We are just money to them. They don't listen to people, or their patients, nor do they hear what is going on. So I am out 2 $40 co pay hearing tests, plus being scolded by one rude male audiologist doctor, plus out of $65 reprogramming fee with my old PHonak hearing aids. One from the state of North Carolina and one I paid for with was over $3k yepper. What a disaster at Wilmington Health Mayfair. So disappointed and disgusted. We are just numbers with pocket books.

This is my first time ever writing a review for a doctor's office so this is not coming from someone who just wants to complain. I have had a health issue for two years now that only just got diagnosed because it was previously minimized but I persisted in getting it checked out because nothing I was reading backed up the medical recommendations they provided. I kept getting told to wait longer to see if I still had the symptom for nearly two years -- I still do and it ended up being a life altering but not life endangering endocrine diagnosis delivered coldly by a specialist's medical assistant via EHR message with my name misspelled who then preceded to neglect to send all of the meds to my pharmacy for weeks. If I had not known what I was looking at based on my own clinical knowledge -- the one medication they would have sent after I prompted them would have been harmful if taken alone. I told my PCP about my diagnosis after she had dismissed these symptoms for nearly two years and her response was "thanks for letting me know". I understand our medical system and medical providers today are very taxed and have too many patients, but this was a cold, dismissive and not very thorough way to handle this and I will not remain a patient.

He took his Hypocratic Oath first do no harm, seriously. I have few qualms about putting my life, so to speak, in his hands. I trust him and I hope, think he trusts me. I pray for joy and peace for him and his family. It's not an easy family life, that with a great physician who cares. Merry Christmas,to you and yours, Dr Lucas. Thanks for all you do.

I have a very high bar for what a Dr. really is as my Grandfather delivered me and my sisters and 10 cousins and was my primary healthcare provider until I was 16. I am a complicated patient and have not made his life easy. Dr. Lucas listens and remembers and has the confidence in his skills that he doesn't have to throw every test in the book at you "just to be sure". He will however, listen to why you feel you might feel you need something. My diagnosis will eventually be terminal and he understands (I think) how I feel about it and doesn't hound me and I can't tell how much that means to me. I had an incident involving another physician within the practice in which a lesser man/physician would have sent me on my way, but he didn't and I thank God and Dr. Lucas for that. It would have been devastating for me. My eldest son and I don't speak often but I referred him to Dr. Lucas. If you're lucky enough to get Dr. Lucas and are willing to develop a good Patient/Physician relationship, you will be set.

However, I…read morefollowed Dr. Griffin over from her former practice and have been tremendously disappointed. While her personality isn't the warmest or engaging, I can deal with that as long as I am getting my needs addressed. When I switched to Tidal Wellness, I was told that the monthly fee would include having access to the doctor and administration via text or phone after hours. This was especially appealing since the main office phone rarely worked or was answered. This is definitely not as advertised. While you can text, it does not mean you will get a response. And I cannot count how many times the office phone was not functioning. Between the inability to get in touch with staff and the dirty exam table paper that still had the prior patient's imprints on it, I was a bit shocked. In addition, if you believe masks are important during a pandemic (as literally every other medical provider I have been to does), you may want to reconsider. I have never seen the doctor wear one, and her staff are hit or miss (they usually only put one on if you do). However, I continued to give the benefit of the doubt and attributed this to being overwhelmed with the start of a new business. Also, I really did not feel like starting over with someone new, so I continued. I am very active in my medical care and I believe it is important to be proactive. I ask questions and make sure I understand. The final straw came when I requested some simple labs be run. Dr Griffin obliged. However when I get the labs back, only a portion of them were run, but she had added on labs that were unnecessary. I realize I am not a doctor, but because I was the one requesting the labs and it wasn't due to actual symptoms occurring, there was Absolutely no medical basis for her to run these labs. A sidenote... My rheumatologist had run these exact special labs less than 30 days prior and they were completely fine. Now I am trying to battle with my insurance company to get them to pay for the same labs that were done in such a short period of time. There is the potential that I may be stuck with this bill. I have attempted numerous times to reach out to Dr Griffin to professionally and politely discuss this issue. She has avoided me. I stopped in to make an appointment and spoke with Nick. He scheduled me for a Telehealth appointment but then never put it in the system. When I called at the time of my appointment, he admitted his error, but then he responded with " that happens sometimes." Neither he nor Dr Griffin showed any real interest in trying to resolve this situation. I am not one to leave reviews; however, when a patient is paying money out of pocket for services, they should be aware of what they are receiving. And when we are talking about health...we deserve better as patients. I will happily pay the monthly fee for the remainder of this month and for next month. Based on my experiences going into the office, it is clear to me that tidal wellness needs it more than I do. The professionalism of this office is grossly suspect. I would caution anyone to do their research and be very careful when choosing whether or not to make this practice your point of contact for medical care. My recommendation for Dr. Griffin is that she spend some time training on office management. While she may have medical training, business management is clearly lacking. When you choose to run a business, you are choosing all of it.
