When I pointed this out, the cashier said he had been there earlier--but if you're going to card people, it should be consistent across the board. The situation escalated unnecessarily when another customer started making disrespectful comments toward me, and instead of stepping in, the cashier argued back and forth with me. The whole experience felt very unprofessional and uncomfortable. Whether it was poor policy enforcement or something else, it didn't sit right. At the very least, staff should know how to handle situations respectfully and consistently. Definitely won't be coming back.
