First I was asked if I had an account, which I thought weird, I just want change. But okay..Of course I do not, explained I just wanted make change, she then asked me how much, 80 bucks. She agreed ok, I can do that for you. Then I had to provide my ID, which then had to be entered into her computer. All this for 30 singles and some some fives. They were nice, but the whole process what just strange to me. Would of be easier just going to Tops for change!

She even went above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable, inviting both my dogs in to say hello! I have been walking by almost daily since moving back to the city. Anything that Monica felt was beyond her scope, she made sure to listen carefully; strategically approaching the challenges I presented with a "let's find out together!" approach, rather than acting "too busy" or worse, turning the questions back on me and making me feel insecure. I love that it is a physical location, a quick walk away from where I currently live for problem solving with a real human. Opened an account here with my wife. This bank is fantastic for one simple reason…read more It is one of the only banks that I'm aware of that has a no-minimums, no-fees checking account available. Called Citizen's Bank and B.O.A. --- all of these banks wanted to actually charge me a monthly fee in order to use my money and extend credit. Either that or they wanted me to jump through hoops like setting up regular deposits and etc. What?! Ain't nobody got time for that. Evans Bank was one of the good guys. No fees with no stupid rules or minimums (except the min of $25 to open the account in the first place). Matthew, the assistant branch manager helped us open the account and personable throughout the process. The account also had some nifty features: if you DO setup a monthly deposit and enroll in paperless checking, you get 1.25% APY and a refund on all ATM fees under $5. Now that's positive reinforcement I can get behind and rave about. Very cool bank that started in WNY and only has a dozen or so branches locally. I'm considering moving my other accounts here after the experience. Thanks, friendly staff!

I was at counter, and I asked if we can count all that money somewhere in the office, or anywhere, but not directly on the counter, I was told it HAS to be there?!?! I told them I don't feel comfortable with all those people around but supervisor told me there is no other way?! I asked for manager, girl behind a counter told me manager will be with me shortly, but supervisor showed up again and told me manager will be busy for hours... I did withdrawal of bigger amount before in M&T bank branch, somewhere in Kenmore on Sheridan drive, and they even offer me armed escort. This is my last time doing any business at this branch, or even I'll close my account at M&T for good...

Me: hi, I want to be sure my debit / credit card will work in both Shanghai and Hong Kong. HSBC Customer Service: Let me check to see if we cover those countries (!) Me: Um, do you know what the letters of your bank name represent? HSBC Customer Service: Silence while he is checking to see if HSBC has any branches in China... So, aside from a doof at customer service, the Hong Kong Shanghai Bank Corp. does have plenty of outlets in China- unfortunately my ATM card did not work there... no thanks to the customer service wiener.
