Called Citizen's Bank and B.O.A. --- all of these banks wanted to actually charge me a monthly fee in order to use my money and extend credit. Either that or they wanted me to jump through hoops like setting up regular deposits and etc. What?! Ain't nobody got time for that. Evans Bank was one of the good guys. No fees with no stupid rules or minimums (except the min of $25 to open the account in the first place). Matthew, the assistant branch manager helped us open the account and personable throughout the process. The account also had some nifty features: if you DO setup a monthly deposit and enroll in paperless checking, you get 1.25% APY and a refund on all ATM fees under $5. Now that's positive reinforcement I can get behind and rave about. Very cool bank that started in WNY and only has a dozen or so branches locally. I applied for my loan, and called the next day as suggested, to find out the results. I was denied. I inquired about a co-signer and was told it would help. So I brought one in, who was also tattooed. He was also stared at and given off looks. We filled out the paperwork and called I'm a day for results. Well, I was denied again?!? What? How? I ended up going to Community Bank to fill a loan app out there, with little expectations. My co-signer was going to meet me there....until I was told I did not even need a co-signer!!!??? So you tell me what that was about at Bank of Holland?! Warning: if you're heavily tattooed or have a unique style, avoid this bank, because they will judge you. I'd give zero stars if I could have.
