I made a cash/check deposit in the lobby ATM over the weekend. The machine froze, taking my card and my deposit. Naturally I was worried. The woman I spoke to on the customer service line (national) was extremely helpful, and David and Marquita at the Elmwood Avenue branch were as well. Do NOT use M&T Bank!!! My 97 year old WWII veteran father has been a loyal customer for decades. His bank card was recently stolen and the thief took $20K!!! No M&T claims that they won't replace the $ because every transaction was considered "authorized" due to the fact that it used his debit card. M&T did NOTHING to secure his account and never shut it down when the system saw unauthorized transactions! Now my 96 yr old dad on a fixed income is out $20K! If he didn't have another account, he'd be on the streets!!! These people are the worst!!! Never use M&T Bank! read more

There ATM card does not work outside NY state!! Even after I advised them in advance of my travels, I was unable to use the card. Now I found out that every time I tried to use the card, I got charged $3 for an 'inquiry fee'. That just about sums up what kind of a rip-off bank this is! read more

This bank is more or less on the Elmwood Strip. It's a standalone building with a drive through too. Parking in back but entrance in front, difficult for those who may not walk as easily. However, once we got inside the help was terrific. We needed to close one account and open another etc. It takes time to do these things, but we were in and out pretty fast considering. ** 3 stars, its a bank branch. But if you need to get some account things done, Id consider this location, they really were super nice. read more

Don't bank here, these people are horrible. Customer service is beyond terrible. Couldn't get a credit card even though my credit score is decent. The customer service representative had the most unhelpful attitude and didn't both to suggest alternatives. Move your money and go local. I am. I have been banking here for years. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. Not only that, if you live in the Elmwood Village, you will no doubt run into various friends and acquaintances, making it a cheerful way to do a necessary errand. There is a small parking lot in the back, which almost always has spaces during banking hours. read more

I applied for a postion of Mortgage Originator on July 15, 2016 and I received a telephone call within five days from human resources in Buffalo, NY. It was a man named Rico Tempesoto. He called on a Friday aftternoon. He was pleased with my experience and told me I would be receiving an invitation to an interview by the following Tuesday. I received the interview invitation from another woman on Monday morning, with directions to Middletown, PA. That is approximately 150 miles from where I live. The next day the time remained the same but the interview was changed to telephone interview with the Vice President of Sales in Middletown, PA.The interview took place on July 25, 2016. Within 10 minutes of the interview, I was told that the previous person in the position decided to return to the postion, and it was no longer available. M&T Bank wasted my time. I notfied human resources of my experience, and I let them know that I realized that M&T Bank had settled with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Also, the position was posted again on August 30, 2016. M&T Bank clearly has no integrity as a business, otherwise the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau wouldn't be involved. They also said No to two other positions, I assume because the understand that my professional experience has been to work with financial regulators such as the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, The Office of Comptroller of Currency, the National Credit Union Association, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. It's what I refer to is lack of integrity, no capability of maintainig ethical standards, and poor communications internally. read more

Horrible customer service. Charges $38.50 for overdraft fee which is completely unfair! Never ever want to have an account with them again! Had the card for 2 years and didn't have any issue until now they come up with strange rules that completely doesn't make sense! Terrible banking system! read more
