I love BECU. And my favorite banker is at this location. She is professional and proficient and just a lovely person. BECU is blessed to have her on their team, and by extension, so are all of us!! Give this girly a raise already or she will be scouted for sure. 5 stars!!!!

I've worked with politicians, attorneys, doctors, & professional athletes. When moving to a new area, it's usually asked where the best everything is. BECU was always on the top of that list. In the last 5 years, it's gone down ASTRONOMICALLY. I haven't recommended this bank for over a year. I have only had to come to the branch and speak to a consultant 10x in the last 5 years and every encounter has been absolutely terrible. This most recent has me ready to cancel my account and find a better credit union. After waiting for 9 mins, I approached this young lady at 10:39am to inform her that we had a 10:30am appt. She rudely tells me "have a seat, someone we'll be with me shortly".... The phrase "Its not what you say, but how you say it" applies here. Then to top it all off, I was her for an Auto Loan signing that should've took 20 mins max and it ended up being an hour and 10 mins For an entry-level employee to feel this comfortable speaking this rudely to her customers, it tells me this behavior is accepted at the leadership level. I see entirely too many Member Consultants at BECU who are rude and don't put the member 1st.

I was SUPER nervous about signing up for a big-name bank like Chase, but because my bank and credit union didn't have branches here, I also didn't want to pay mega service charges every time I needed cash. I signed up online and I'll be honest - Things did NOT start well. I got to Washington and immediately needed to deposit a check but when I came into this branch, they had no record of my account (although I had already deposited $200.00 online so I'd have a bit waiting for me). Turns out it was my own darn fault - I was supposed to bring my drivers licence into a local branch within a week of signing up and when I didn't, they put my account on "hold". Thankfully, the ladies here were ABSOLUTELY wonderful and came up with solutions for me to be able to quickly deposit my check, pay my rent right away, and get me set up properly. I have nothing but good things to say about them - I've run into a few issues since then but I always go into this branch and they take care of me.

Today has been a very terrible day for me I called and wanted to talk to someone at this branch…read moresomebody answers from another country call center and I said I made it very clear are you from the branch in Puyallup no we're not so I will transfer you so they transfer me in another person answers and I said are you from the bank right there at the bank itself no I am the call center I will give you their number so I take their number of my bank in Puyallup and I listen to a thing and answering machine and then it says no one can answer the phone goodbye. I wanted to scream. What has happened to customer service anymore I heard there's new hours at their bank and I told the call center and they said no it's closed I said no it's not supposed to be closed. I also made it very clear I want a bank that I can call directly and someone in that building answers the phone and I can get my business taken care of I do not like the Wells Fargo how it works after Monday I'm going to go in that's what they told me I have to go in to the building I said with gas costing as much as it does just to ask a question I have to go in. Anyway as of Monday or Tuesday I make a decision if I'm going to stay with them or leave them this is ridiculous.

After previously being disappointed…read morein the branch by South Hill Mall in a different matter, I walked into this office yesterday to try to open an estate account to handle my deceased mother's affairs. I've spent almost 4 months getting the proper paperwork in order. I waited a short time for a banker to assist the couple in front of me. It was a short time because she wasn't actually able to help them, but sent them out the door saying they needed to bring back something else. When it was my turn, I presented the paperwork sent to me by my attorney. In turn, she sent it over to their legal department to check to see if it was "sufficient." (Really? Opening accounts is your job but you don't know what you need to open an account? But...okay.) she then had to call them to see if the documents were okay. I had presented the death certificate, Letter of Administration, EIN number, and of course, all my identification. I was told that I would also need a letter of probate. News flash: the Letter of Administration serves that purpose! Their crack legal team should have known this. But my greatest source of frustration was that the banker didn't CARE that she was unable to assist me. No apology to me, and no apology to the customers ahead of me that she also sent out the door without helping. Contrast this experience with the one I had today at Umpqua Bank where the lady who greeted me immediately knew my paperwork was in order, and their Relationship Banker who actually expressed her condolences for the loss of my mother before assisting me with my needs. I will be pulling the rest of my business from Wells Fargo and hope to never darken their door again. Between the bankers at WF and their crack legal department, it's no wonder they've been plagued with so many class action suits. For further details of my experience at Umpqua, see my 5 star review of the branch at Meridian and 176th.

I was also told that I could not deposit a check written out to me and my partner because it needed two signatures (sure, that is understandable)..the weirdness began the staff member started mentioning title fraud and insurance deposit fraud. Those two issues have absolutely nothing to do with me, and even remotely insinuating I would be committing fraud of any sort was extremely tacky, and uncomfortable. There is no reason to mention fraud to me, when my check was written out to me and I provided my enhanced driver's license as proof of identification. I will never be returning to this branch, and was never treated like a criminal attempting fraud at the Kirkland branch. I will also be taking my banking elsewhere and will be promptly closing my account at another location. I initially chose BECU because I wanted to support a local company, but my experience was embarrassing and horrible. I bank with a major brokerage company, and they on the other hand have never treated me this way, and are always professional and courteous, unlike the staff member Terri R at this branch.
