I am advocate for small business and would never give a negative review, but some people abuse their power. He re-did my uncles roof in the building that I live in. He did not clean up after himself and people were getting nails in their tires for months. Only after 2 months, the roof he did started to leak. He left the flashing showing without the shingles to cover parts of the roof. When we confronted him about the roof leaking and the not being complete, he drug us on for over 2 years about how his schedule was booked. He would never tell us when he had an opening when I would ask. If my uncle was an aggressive person, we easily could have won a suit in court. I still have the texts of him avoiding to fix the service that he provided. The roof has progressively gotten worse and he has now blocked our numbers instead of fixing the problem he caused.

Consummate professionals to the highest degree, I don't think we could have asked for a better outcome to what started off auspiciously. We had originally hired another contractor to complete several jobs at our house including demolishing our old railroad tie retaining wall and rebuilding it with Versa-Lok, a concrete porch extension, general landscaping including grading, and building Versa-Lok raised beds around our house. Said contractor started the job, and left the house in shambles for 3 months, not responding to any of our phone calls and effectively taking our money and running, while demanding we give him more money to break contract. Given it was nearing October and we were concerned about water leakage into our basement with the partly-completed work that had been done, we stated looking for other contractors to complete the job. Tom came out 2 days after we called for an estimate, and he had the estimate back to us 3 days later. Price-wise, Tom was actually the lowest price to complete everything, and it was complete work - other contractors couldn't do everything we needed done. When we hired him, he gave us a start date and deadlines that he was spot on with and was communicative during the whole process. Several days into the job, while working on some of the grading, he noted foundational issues and worked with us to get them fixed by adding a french drain system and retarring our foundation. Tom and his crew were able to get all of the original work done (including removal of the detritus the first contractor left behind, and fix his mistakes) plus the foundational work in a little less than 3 weeks. Everything was awesome - I don't think there is enough I could say about how good of a job Tom and his crew did. The precision, quality, cost, speed, and responsiveness is unbeatable. If you need someone to do concrete work, landscaping, or plumbing, you need to call Tom. He'll give you an honest, fair assessment, and if you hire him, you will not be disappointed.

I kept asking him to correct it, but eventually he just disappeared and never returned my calls. He and his crew were on-site within days and immediately began to undo the other contractor's mess. They re-installed the trusses the correct way, installed the sheathing, proper underlayment, shingles, gutters, soffit, fascia, and everything else associated with a new roof. The sales rep/owner Chad Sipes came to my house to talk about my projects. He gave me an estimate of $5,000, which I thought was a little high, but all home-improvement companies during the pandemic seem to be charging high prices. I hired Sipes and Son because they have been in business since the year 2000, they perform the services that I needed, and because they had excellent reviews on other websites such as the Better Business Bureau. The work was performed over about one month, because some of the work was for the exterior of my house, and the weather in January and February was snowy. Four workers came to my house off and on, and all of them were very courteous and professional. I feel very happy with the quality of their work. I expect the brick pointing and sealing to prevent rainwater from damaging my bricks and foundation. The pipe column and drywall were my husband's idea, and they probably were not necessary, but at least we can have peace of mind that our floor will always be sturdy. I am strongly considering hiring Sipes and Son to remodel my kitchen and bathrooms.

He has been in business for over 45 years and it is easy to understand why after you work with A.E. "Chip" Nicholas. After 20+ years in the area, it was a pleasure for me to hire a contractor who will work with the customer, is efficient in the entire process from contract to completion and does a GREAT JOB! And a bonus, his entire work crew is hardworking craftsmen at their work and courteous to anyone they meet. My project had two components, the replacement of an existing concrete sidewalk and steps to the front door and the installation of a drainage system to reduce groundwater runoff due to the steep hills near our home in Murrysville, PA. Jimmy, the estimator was prompt and considered the challenges of my specific project at the outset to quote a price, and then Chip called me back right away over the weekend to walk-through the project scope and his plan on construction. Equipment and materials arrived the day before, and when Chip says he will be there as the sun is rising, take him at his word! His team worked efficiently to remove the existing sidewalk preparing the forms for the new concrete and digging the drainage trenches, removing all debris from the site the same day. Then the real excitement of the project began on day 2, when the concrete arrived (they only use high quality product), and when the moved and poured half a mixer truck of concrete, it was a really amazing, choreographed event that should be put to music. No heavy concrete truck came on the property as they moved almost 6 cubic yards of concrete from the road so as not to damage the existing driveway. Finally, after pouring the concrete, they finished the contoured sidewalk beautifully to produce an elegant look to the front of the house. Again, on the French drainage part of the project, they put surface drains and top-quality pipe covered and wrapped with pervious material and stone and backfilled with soil, fertilized grass seed and topping to ensure robust growth of the new lawn, all leading to a deep course stone pit to allow the water to run off slowly and be absorbed into the landscape. Chip even took note of a gutter lead problem and fixed a problem created by a previous deck contractor I had hired earlier this year. He said no charge, and not only was the total project beautiful, but it was also reasonably priced. I would hire A.E. Nicholas to do any project at my home again!

The posts were placed into my yard. When approached, the team told me they had measured between the 2 houses and split the differences - this was also incorrect. When they contacted the owner, he was dismissive, told me they did not have to survey the property, the township allowed it to be on the property line, and no, they did not need to inform me of this. When they came back the following day, I was informed the posts had broken off, and I now have steel in my yard. While the 3 gentlemen onsite were pleasant and apologetic, they were certainly only doing as they were told with the information they were provided; however, both the owner and the additional employee tasked with removing the posts from my yard were not.
