I happened upon Proofing Behavior's via the Clipper Magazine back in March. At the time Ziggy had gotten away from me again and chased a small child through the neighborhood. The good news is the child was not hurt (just frightened) bad news is this wasn't the first time and I was beyond exhausted trying to control my baby boy. Ziggy is only two years old, after getting him in the house after that incident, I got the mail and found the magazine and there on the back was the coupon. I thought this was providence and called them right away Jim returned my call and within 2 days he was at my front door ready to start training. Unfortunately covid-19 hit and we had to postpone training until late June early July I am happy to say 8 weeks later both Ziggy and I have graduated on the loose leash training and the overall commands to sit and stay. I cannot say enough about how great this is and what peace of mind I now have when I go outside with Ziggy. He listens, he pays attention, he looks for my cues and all of this would not have been possible without Jim and the techniques he brings. From day one Jim explained the simple techniques and yes with the help of some treats we got Ziggy in line and in focus. Ziggy being a smart little boy has realized the more he listens to Mommy the more he gets outside time I highly recommend Proofing Behaviors and Jim's services to anyone and everyone all dogs all sizes I mean I knew it was a challenge as big as Ziggy IS I was a little skeptical we were not going to get here but to my great surprise we are.

I retained…read moresomeone who lived very close to me and had great reviews, but after a few sessions I realized our schedules were not compatible; I was not getting consistency and reliability from her. It's important for me to make progress with my dog, so I Googled alternate options and stumbled upon Alex's page. I called him on a Friday and he picked up the phone right away. We spoke for a while about my needs and he came out the following Tuesday for what was supposed to be a 2-hour visit. I fell in love with him immediately, he is not only so personable and likable on his own, but he really takes the time to LISTEN to what you need and work on those things right away. I had mentioned my priorities to my previous trainer, but I found that she was teaching my dog commands that didn't actually accomplish what I was after. In our first meeting, Alex worked on SO MANY of my priorities. He got my dog to go into her crate on command, taught her to "stay," showed me how to "walk with" my dog better on her leash, and (using a 30' leash outdoors) started working on recall with her. We were so immersed in what was going on that Alex started to go a little bit over our time, but he didn't want to stop because we were making such great progress. I told him if he wanted to give me a third hour right then and there that I was prepared to pay for it, and he did!! I learned a lot of things from Alex myself during our first meeting, like how to employ the use of "deltas" (which my old trainer never once mentioned) and how non-verbal cues are arguably more important than verbal ones. Again, my old trainer actually discouraged me from using hand motions, but once incorporating them into my routine I noticed that my dog was much more compliant than she had been. Another positive difference between my old trainer and Alex is he really takes the time to teach you why he's doing what he's doing, and encourages you to participate. My old trainer just taught my dog a command and had me replicate/practice when she left. Alex really makes you feel like you are a part of the teaching process. After our private session Alex recommended some "Small Group Therapy" for my pup. He came at noon on a Thursday to pick up my dog and she proceeded to go on a several-hour outing with his two chihuahuas and a dog he was fostering. The entire time he was out with her he was recording and sharing videos on an iCloud album. It was INCREDIBLE to not only see everything that was happening, but to hear him narrate why he was doing the things he was doing. I could not get enough of his videos and felt like I was there during the session. On top of Alex's excellent communication, punctuality, reliability, friendliness, competency, and effectiveness, his rates are OUTRAGEOUS in the BEST way! I truly believe he is under-charging for his services. I can get three hours with Alex for less than I paid for one hour with my prior trainer, and I feel much better about the work that is done during that timeframe. I adore Alex, and most importantly, what he is doing works. He really gets into the mind of your dog, and has such a wonderful way of connecting with them and their needs. I am elated to keep our work going - my pup has lots more Small Group Therapy outings in her future and it's wonderful that I have the option to use him one-on-one to teach her even more commands in the house. One day I hope to move on from essential commands to more fun ones, like "roll over" or "go get X toy."

You could go to PetSmart or Petco or any one of the franchises, but you would be missing out-…read moreBIGTIME. With Happy Wags, we were able to get personal service at our home. We didn't have to drive the 20 miles to a pet store. We didn't have to deal with other yappy dogs pooping all over the place. Instead, in the comfort of our own home, we learned how to keep our dog from darting out of the door, how to go "down" and how to walk on the leash. We don't have to put our dog away when guest visit. Buddy no longer goes insane when the doorbell rings. Our dog stays now when we tell him and he even sleeps in a new bed when told "night, night". Buddy turns 5 yrs old this month. Everyone else had given up on him. But, Happy Wags told us he was still trainable; and they were right. Buddy LOVED training and his trainer. I have stage 4 cancer and my father has Parkinson's disease and my mother is 75. Our dog, Buddy badly needed the loving, positive personal training he received. Our trainer had to work harder with our family than most families, I suppose, because of our physical limitations. She readily adapted the lessons and was always available via phone and e-mail. I loved the e-mail reminders. Did I mention the price? The price turned out to be less expensive than at the pet stores and she came to our home and offered more sessions. The service was supportive, affordable and life-changing for our dog and family. Happy Wags is now a part of our "framily." We are so thankful. Dawgue is a 5-month-old mixed breed female puppy with a ton of energy and difficult to control. She is tipping the scale at 50 pounds already. Taylor taught me how to greatly improve Dawgue's response to the command "come" to me in about 15 minutes. I learned a lot about the psychology of dog and what motivates them to respond to my commands. After working with Taylor, I saw a great improvement in Dawgue's response to me in our first walk outside, she was much better behaved and is learning to come to me when told to do so. There is much to be learned by me and more training for Dawgue to help me reach my goal of having her walk beside me without a leash and not be distracted by other dogs, people and other critters etc. I am very encouraged that by working with Taylor and heeding his advice Dawgue and I will accomplish this goal.
