Not overly oily nor salty unlike big box chains that specializes in the same product. And they are huge pieces that you get. Definitely get your money's worth here. Do yourself a favour and have a break with some fried chicken after gassing up or while waiting for your laundry from the adjacent laundromat.

My chicken breast and thigh were juicy and lightly breaded and not salty! Usually now days everything is over salted so I always appreciate food that tastes just right. So, in leu of the previous bad reviews I have to say our experience was awesome along with the friendly service. People were in and out but it never seemed too loud while sitting inside dining.

I was a taxi driver 12 hours a day 5 days a week, so not much money (CJ's only pays 35% of each…read moretrip and zero for sitting around) and I'm celiac (gluten-intolerant) so I had a hard time finding affordable, filling, tasty foods. The folks here let me buy grilled chicken patties and they would put them in a pancake container with some shredded lettuce and ranch sauce, and only charge me like $2.50 per patty and like $0.20 for the ranch and nothing for the lettuce because there's no button to charge for lettuce because it's mostly water anyway and McDonald's is billionaires. Anyway, they let me make a chicken salad to survive off of and only once or twice did someone try to charge me sandwich price when I wasn't getting bread or any of the other sandwich stuff, literally just a patty and lettuce.

I went to the drive through where the burger was taken at the first window and I was asked to wait at the last window. After a good 10-12 minutes someone finally came and tried to hand me a coffee they thought was my order. After finding the correct customer in the parking lot I was able to tell the employe that I was waiting for my correct order. I had to repeat the entire order. So after another long wait I was finally given a bag with my order. I drove into the parking lot and upon opening it I discovered there were only 2 Patties, ketchup and a slice of cheese. This time my wife saw my frustration and went into the store. It took at least another 10 minutes and she was apparently offered some cookies, which the manager didn't even have. She stated that we are now late for a wedding and had to go. The final burger I got was not hot, but barely above room temperature and did have the order correct other than having enough "special sauce" for at least 3 burgers, which I had to scrape off to avoid wearing it. To conclude, this place has incompetent staff even for McD's poor standards. I'm not going back.

McJolly was started by Filipino immigrants who became restauranteurs in Halifax and takes its name from two of the most popular fast food chains in the Philippines. No guesses are needed for the prefix, but the second part may be less familiar for Maritimers - Jollibee. They're only just starting to expand in Canada, with about 30 locations across the country, and are known for their assorted menu of fried chicken, burgers, and Filipino-style spaghetti. The menu at McJolly is much the same, and I had the fried chicken section in my sights. I went for Comb Meal #3 - fried chicken, rice and your choice of coleslaw or corn (I chose the latter). I thought I was getting a lighter meal than some of the combos that have both rice and spaghetti, but when my tray was in front of me, the *four* pieces of chicken (two drumsticks and two thighs, go Team Dark Meat!) said otherwise! Hilariously, I was in a bit of a rush to get to a job interview, so I had to inhale this meal and couldn't quite give it the attention it deserved, but there were really only four different items - the chicken, steamed rice, corn and gravy. I won't play coy and leave it until the end of the review - the chicken was awesome! The coating was super crisp, and the meat within was moist and tender. I do wish Filipino fried chicken had more seasoning to it, but hey, well executed fried chicken is still a wonderful thing! The gravy had a pleasant peppery kick to it, and I slathered it over both the chicken and the rice. The small cup of corn was a bit of an afterthought, and I probably should have gone with the coleslaw on the off chance that it would be a vinegar-based dressing to have something to cut through the rich chicken, but it's likely mayo-based anyway. I love that Filipino food has really been blowing up in Halifax the past few years, and I'll definitely be doing a deep dive into it all, including a return visit to McJolly for the spaghetti next time!
