This place is like a Michael Bay blockbuster, all looks but no substance…read more The place is new, it looks fancy, the service is pleasant, and the food looks really good...but it fails to deliver and it's pretty underwhelming. For $13.90 a bowl a ramen, I'd expect it to have more than one piece of chashu...and a hot piece not a cold piece. It's $3.80 for 3 more pieces of chashu, meaning ~$18 for a bowl of ramen for 4 pieces of chashu. It would be a fair price if it were say Ippudo, but this place isn't even close. On top of that the egg was way overcooked. Meh. Manpuku takes a page out of Ramen Zundo's book and offers a Red (chili) and Black (soy) ramen and they also use bean sprouts and cabbage. Not necessarily bad, just different. The best part of the dish were the noodles since they're al dente...but overcooked egg, cold chashu, and a tepid broth make this place one I don't plan on frequenting again.

I got the traditional chicken ramen broth it was excellent, flavourful and tastey and hit the right spot for me. The manager gave my other half some extra veggies as he went pork free with his dish. The manager spent extra time with us and going through the menu and completely nailed our tastes to recommendations. Some of the best service we've received in a long time, we'll be back.

I'm told by a Chinese colleague you need to ask for the "chemical grade chilli wings" at Crazy…read moreWings if you want to burn the roof of your mouth. They aren't on the menu. Some sort of secret Fight Club-esque uppercut amongst lovers of extra spicy things I imagine. I think he's right because the spicy wings I had, while covered in chilli powder, were not by any means spicy. However, they were delicious. I ordered one of each 6 chicken flavours and got my hands dirty eating each. The honey soy was sweet and homely while the black pepper offered a kick closest in the direction I was searching. There are two wings per skewer and I found the 6 skewers was filling enough when combined with a bowl of BBQ meat rice. Service was let down by waitstaff who seemed more interested in their mobile phones than customers. There was only one or two other parties at most during the Saturday lunch time I was there and I think disinterested staff meant the wait time for food was unnecessarily long. I'll be back for more wings, this time equipped with the Chinese characters of what I need to ask for to get the spiciest of wings.

Other good stuff I've tried since my first review:…read more - chicken fillet skewers - garlic toast (like garlic bread but cooked with oil rather than butter) - honey soy wings* - garlic wings* - Asian curry wings* - enokitake mushroom skewers** * Good but not as good as the original wings. Next time I come here I'm just going to order loads of original wings. ** Not as good as the abalone mushroom skewers. Stuff I tried that I DIDN'T like: - mung bean noodle salad - seaweed salad - eggplant skewers When I went to pay the man gave me a $10 voucher to use on my next visit, which I thought was pretty awesome.
