I've been working at kfc simpsonville since June 2022, and up until recently, I've always focused on my tasks and stayed professional. But since June 2024, when Assistant Manager Jackie and joined, things have taken a disturbing turn. Here's what I, along with my coworkers, have been facing:
1. Issues with Assistant Manager Jackie
* Racist and Discriminatory Behavior: Jackie, a white woman, has made offensive jokes about our skin color, implying that darker-skinned workers "look dirty." She's used racial slurs, including the N-word, with both employees and customers, often starting conflicts and shifting blame to others. RGM has threatened employees' jobs, stating, "You people complain about too much," and would state that anyone with a problem can be easily replaced.
* Threats of Violence: assistant manager has threatened physical violence, particularly toward teenagers as young as 15.
* Homophobic Comments: Jackie has made derogatory remarks about a young employee she assumed was gay, continuously targeting him with slurs. When his mother approached management, they ridiculed both him and her. RGM also wanted to have the boy written up bc he called the 1-800 CALL-KFC number to report Jackie. The boy never got an apology nor was the manager held accountable.
* Alarming Hygiene Issues: Mold has been found in our sweet tea urns, which management ignores. Bugs crawling around, dropping peoples food on the dirty floor and still proceeding to give it to the customers ( only if they don't see & if they did see, they'll give them different food but will eventually serve the dropped food to someone else). A few workers have called them out for it but they are quick to write us up for speaking out about the trifling behavior that's being done there.
Jackie and the General managers daughter, Destiny has also been seen using weed pens and alcohol on the job and also vapes around customers food. The GM, is aware but overlooks it, as Jackie is her friend.
* Inappropriate Conduct: managers often leaves during their shifts, abandoning the team, and has left minors waiting alone outside at night and her and her friends are very rude to customers especially the poc.
2. Issues with Regional GM Christian
* Racist Remarks: he has suggested that our team's challenges are due to a lack of white employees and has mocked a former employee's religious practices and attire. he has also made inappropriate remarks about a prior female employee who wore a hijab and had known very limited English. He has mocked her for her prayers and made comments regarding her hijab, which is both disrespectful and unacceptable.
* Inappropriate Personal Questions: He's questioned me about personal relationships and even my intimate life, crossing clear professional boundaries. In August 2024, he asked me personal questions about my intimate relationship with my partner, who was working at the store at the time, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. He inquired, "What kind of stuff are y'all into?" and "Or you be with multiple people?" He also said, "I thought you were a good girl." It was particularly strange because I don't even know Christian at all, aside from the fact that he is the Regional General Manager. I could tell he realized he was crossing a line when his face turned red as he waited for my response, but he eventually dropped the subject when he saw I wasn't going to answer.
* Abuse of Authority: he threatens job security, especially targeting Black employees, and refuses to address Jackie's misconduct. I was also in training to become a manager but since Jackie and crystal didn't like me, they didn't train me.
3. Issues with General Manager Crystal
* Constant Disrespect: Since she joined as General Manager in September 2024, I have been subjected to constant disrespect. She's called me "dumb" and "mentally challenged" for minor mistakes, refusing to use my name and addressing me as "that girl" or "hey you." Another employee corrected her once, but she shrugged and said, "Whatever her name is, tell her..." while I was standing right there. It's clear she holds prejudice against certain employees, particularly those Jackie dislikes.
Crystal making unprovoked, derogatory remarks about me to a new worker, calling me "slow" or "mentally challenged" within earshot. I walked away to avoid confrontation, but she later assumed I was talking about her and aggressively confronted me, yelling and belittling me. When I calmly corrected her and asked her to use my name, she dismissed it, claiming my name "wasn't important enough to know." read more
