I stopped by Stella's Bistro while on a business trip in South Carolina and was looking for something local instead of a chain restaurant. I'm really glad I did. I tried their shrimp and grits, and it was excellent -- rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. It felt like a great introduction to Southern comfort food done right. Chocolate peanut butter pie was rich and creamy! What a bomb I ordered fried okra to start. They are spear shaped and deep fried with buttermilk batter. The okras were ok but the aioli was great. I had shrimp and grits. They were tasty but a bit too salty for my taste. I also tried Salmon which was delicious. Today's special was bacon wrapped meatloaf. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. So good! We came for brunch and enjoyed mimosas in a cozy banquette with pillows. I ordered the SC peach French toast and hub tried the shrimp and grits. Our large portions came out perfectly prepared, mine with crispy bacon on the side and his with crumbled crispy bacon on top. The schmear of cheesecake filling on the plate gives the French toast a creamy, not overly sweet flavor which I loved, and the peaches were perfectly ripe. Hub enjoyed the shrimp and grits other than the overabundance of tomatoes in his bowl, which overpowered the flavor a bit. Went here for lunch. Service was excellent! I came in a Thursday and ordered their chicken meal for that day. Their potato soup was wonderful. The rest of the meal was terrible. The chicken breast was super dry and charred. Not good. I was looking forward to eating a super moist chicken breast. Not so. The corn and cabbage were just not there for me. I have been to the Stella's downtown Greenville and the food has always been amazing. Maybe this restaurant was off the day I went. We had dinner celebrating an Anniversary last night. Service was fantastic! We had the Duck and also Fish which were super. Cocktails professionally mixed and delightful. Cream of mushroom soup was on a special and we took two orders to go. We had multiple staff just stopping to see if all was good. Our water glasses were constantly filled which is nice. Made a reservation 2 weeks in advance for Easter brunch. No mention of a different menu. When we get there we are told there's a set menu with no substitutions allowed. You must order a 'starter' and an entree. Problem is all the starters are lunch items. Not really wanting a salad or deviled eggs before my French Toast. So my $16 French Toast turned into a $36 set menu item with an egg and a half of a deviled egg. Won't be returning. read more

This place was wonderful when it was Morgan's. Great food and friendly staff. Now it's more "upscale", borderline snooty. Been there a handful of times, the first time was on my own. The next few times were paid for by a third party. I'm a tee shirt and shorts guy. Sometimes a golf shirt and cargo shorts. But I'd I have to wear slacks and a button shirt to go eat, then I'm going somewhere else. And this is the atmosphere of this place. LOVED Morgans. Can't say the same for what it's become. And I doubt I'll ever go back, regardless of who pays. read more

Was only in SC for a week, ate here 2 times. Great amazing fresh food! My wife absolutely loved the fish. She got the trout special one time and the Tile next, loved the risotto!. She said both were amazing. I had the pork chop and the burger. Want them again! They have hand made potato chips that you must try. Excellent service both times we went. We ordered the mussels and it came with a beautiful piece of bread that is there... as your magical reward for finishing the delectable mussels... (you know you take the bread and let it sop up the mussel marinade) We shared the 12 oz Ribeye and it was thick and perfectly cooked... served with fingerling potatoes and grilled asparagus... the sauce accompanying the plate was a creamy blue cheese that we dipped EVERYTHING IN. Came here for lunch with a friend to celebrate her birthday. Great service - we had Ruby and she was so sweet and patient as we struggled with which dish to order as many looked good. Ironically we both ordered the lunch special of Wild Caught Shrimp & Chicken Jambalaya. I was going for the shrimp but was concerned since most jambalaya are very spicy and I'm a wuss with spice. This dish had house andouille, rice grits, tomatoes, peppers, fried okra (which were fantastic and my friend who doesn't like okra liked hers), country ham scallion broth. It had a nice touch of kick like Ruby said it wasn't too spicy. When we received our order, it was fascinating and nicely plated but nothing what I expected. And that's one of the beauty of Stella's. One of the best meals and service we have gotten since living in Simpsonville. Drink and appetizers were great, entrees were even better... I love how they source local ingredients from all over the city, peaches were from the Mauldin Market and they were beautiful. Crème brûlée is one of my favorite desserts but it hard to find a good one, this was a solid 9/10, fresh and huge blackberries on top. I was treated to a nice lunch today at Stella's Southern Bistro from my niece. Stella's is a very nice restaurant for a couple, a family or a group of friends. They're open for lunch from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. My niece had made us a reservation for 11:45. For an appetizer we ordered the three cheese pimento cheese. The pimento cheese comes with the bacon jam on top with the house crackers, and the fried green tomatoes on the side. The pimento was delicious and the bacon jam took it to a another level. The house crackers were almost like a wheat type of cracker, but they went well with the pimento cheese/bacon jam. The fried green tomatoes were crispy on the outside, but a little on the hard side under the crispy coating. For my main course I decided on the Kentucky Hot Brown. All sandwiches come with one side, for my side I had the Bistro fries. The Kentucky Hot Brown is an open face sandwich with sliced Turkey breast, bacon strips, tomato conserva(a type of spaghetti sauce), mornay( an Alfredo sauce)on grilled sour dough bread. The sandwich was good and a nice size. The bistro fries were crispy and hot and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese and parsley. For dessert my niece ordered the peppermint crème brûlée. Our server brought out two spoons so I could taste it. My first time eating crème brûlée, and I liked it. I really enjoyed my lunch at Stella's Southern Bistro, presentation is every thing, and they know how to do that at Stella's. read more
