The manager and staff at this KFC on Silas Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem, NC were ridiculously unprofessional when I stopped in to get my sister some mashed potatoes and gravy while she was in the hospital. After placing her order, I went to use the restroom and was told the women's bathroom was out of order. I was then told the men's bathroom was the only alternative but it was "disgusting." When I inquired how employees were washing their hands, I was told that it wasn't something I needed to worry about because they had a good sanitation grade. Seriously?! If I had not already paid for and received the mashed potatoes, I would not have. I swiftly threw them in the outside trash and drove out of the way to get a new order for my sister. If they couldn't be bothered to assure me of their cleanliness, I definitely wasn't going to assume they were being hygienic, especially when they were so emphatic about how nasty the male bathroom was kept. I would not recommend anyone to eat at this location.

I had tried the Spicy Chicken Sandwich that KFC offers, but I wanted to try the classic version as well! And I did. This is an excellent chicken sandwich, best of the national chains, better than that offered by most local spots. It's the largest filet around with the exception of the buttermilk chicken breast at Bad Daddy's - this filet starts at 10.3 ounces!l The chicken is well breaded in wheat flour mixed with the famous 11 spices, and then nicely pressure fried (it is much like the broasted technique) placed in a buttery bun, and mayo and pickles are added. There is a very nice crunchiness to the chicken filet. The pickles are a bit weak, but everything else is excellent. Like most fast food places the mayo or sauce is not evenly spread, but rather plopped in one area - if you are lucky it is placed in the middle at least - that was the case here! Overall I rate this sandwich slightly better in flavor than Popeye's, but the difference is marginal. The value aspect is definitely with KFC.

Drive through was quick, but they were out of my first drink option. Got back to office to see there was no straw. The fries were gooey and the bag minimally filled. The sandwich was ok, but several fast food places have better chicken sandwiches

The people working here are ignorant. The service sucks. There were three cars in line so I guess that explains there stress. LOL.

Closed two hours early for no reason while staff is inside. No one comes to drive thru and doors are locked. Cars were lined up.

The chicken itself was excellent. It was incredibly juicy, perfectly fried, and had a great crispy coating. My only issue was that the breading felt like it was missing a little something, maybe more seasoning, pepper, or some extra flavor. Growing up with places like Gus's Fried Chicken in Memphis and Nashville hot chicken, I think I naturally expect a little more punch from the chicken itself. The sauce they serve is more of a barbecue style sauce, and while it worked, I personally didn't love it enough for it to carry all the flavor. The sides were a mixed bag. The collard greens were really good and definitely one of the highlights. The coleslaw, though, was way too pepper heavy for my taste. Also, the piece of bread that comes with the meal was honestly not worth the calories. I'd rather see them either upgrade the bread or skip it altogether. One unexpected highlight was the pebble ice from the drink machine. Small detail, but it was awesome and definitely appreciated. Overall, I'd come back and try some different sides because the chicken itself is worth returning for. With a little more seasoning or some different sauce options, I could see this being a 5 star spot.

There is plenty of parking available to the left side of the store. I ordered the Ox Tail plate which comes with rice, pigeon peas, shredded cabbage, and sweet plantains. I also tried the Cod Fritter. The order was complete in around 10 minutes since all that was required was to place the already cooked items in a take out container. The Ox Tail was excellent - falling off the bone tender with a lot of flavor. As always with this dish, there are small bones as well as the large ones, and there will be some small area of gristle, so some caution is required as you eat. The rice, peas, cabbage mixture and the plantains were all very good, though a bit under seasoned for my tastes - some salt and a bit of hot sauce cured that up quickly. I didn't care for the well sized fritter, there was no flavor and it was rather greasy. The cost was $18, and while there was a lot of food (take out container was packed full), most of it was the rice, peas, etc. The ox tail was not overly abundant. The service was great, pleasant and efficient. I will come back to try the Goat Curry, Jerk Chicken, and the Fish Stew. Ambiance - 2 (as you would expect) Food - 4 Service - 4.5 Value - 3

I finally found one that hit the mark on both Service and Food. I have to give a huge shoutout to Aaron! He took the order as we went through the drive thru and he made sure everything was right when we got to the window. He had a great personality and did a great job. He gave us options on things we asked. When I asked for Ketchup he gave me regular and said "try this it's our spicy ketchup" We ordered onion rings and he gave another sauce and said, "this is our favorite that most people love" Hope Aaron is a sign of this Whataburger doing things right. The teenage order taker came out from the kitchen area and just looked at me. I finally said "hey, how are you doing". He didn't really respond so I just placed my order. To say he was disinterested is being kind. I got my napkins and filled my drink. The condiment section was lacking salt, so I just went to my table. When the food was brought to me, the employee offered me two kinds of ketchup. Her tray did not have any salt on it either, so I had to ask her to bring some, which she did. Very perfunctory. The burger and fries were just barely warm. The fries tasted fine, but we're nothing to get excited about. The burger patties were thin, dry, and insipid. The toppings were just average. Again, the burger was on the wrong side of warm and did not taste fresh at all. There's just not much positive to say about my experience here this evening. WHATABURGER? Try WHATADISAPPOINTMENT.
