She listened to our requests (city view shots) and even offered great back-up location suggestions. She had also did her research in knowing what time of the day would be best. Elaine was organized and punctual. * Outfits: Although I knew Elaine had a few outfit palette suggestions already, I had preferences of what to wear but just could not decide which one. I had seen Chanel's amazing website and her super professional looking photos, so I was stoked to…read morework with her, especially since hair and makeup AND styling was included in the session price (even though I ended up using my own clothes). I'm a model, and I take my work seriously, and expect top notch quality from anyone I work with, especially if I'm paying them. That said, Chanel's work isn't even on the same level as most of the photographers I've worked with for trade, and possibly far below most of them. Firstly, the images are her website are highly retouched. I understand that editorial quality photos are sometimes highly retouched, but the images are her website are NOTHING like the images you will receive from a photo session with her. My photo session went something like this. She had rented a studio for us to shoot in, I called her and tried to start our shoot a little later because I had an interview in LA, but she was unable to do that, so we ended up shooting in her garage and backyard, which was fine, but offered little variety in the photos. As a person, Chanel really thinks that she knows everything about fashion and style and will not hesitate to speak badly of other photographers or models, which isn't something I really want to hear when I'm trying to get some great images. It always makes me wonder what she will say about me after I'm gone. After the shoot was all said and done, Chanel said she'd send me my proofs sometime during the weekend. (The shoot was a Thursday) and it wasn't until a week later that I finally got the proofs, and they weren't even color corrected or anything...which is fine. But if she wasn't going to do any work, what took so long? I then gave her my picks for the retouching and it her 12 days to finally send me the retouched photos, after several emails back and forth saying that they were almost done. This would be fine if this had been a trade shoot, but I paid her and she kept stringing me along, saying they would be done soon. And when I finally got them, my face was OUT OF FOCUS. She didn't even check the focus on the proofs before giving them to me! So the best photo from the whole session is completely worthless because I can't blow it up to portfolio size without seeing the focus issues. She then said she'd print one out to check, which never happened. So I had to contact her again, a month later, because the retouches were so bad, all the texture from my skin was gone, and the colors were muddy and that I wanted the raw files so I could pay another retoucher to fix them. She then proceeded to tell me that she paid $80 for the edits and that she hadn't "retouched a photo of her own in about 3 years." Well, I finally realized that she'd been paying high end retouchers that charge upwards of $40 dollars an image to retouch her photos into something salvageable for her to use on her website. This is FALSE ADVERTISING. I should get the exact same quality or something VERY similar to what is on her site, and got nothing of the sort. I sent her a final email that wasn't near as chatty as my previous ones on June 7th, stating that I NEEDED the raw photos immediately for a new composite card and she sent them to me that night. She had completely IGNORED my from April 15th to June 7th until I decided to tell her that it had been several months since our shoot and I still hadn't received the raw files. What took her so darn long? Anyway, she is without a doubt the most unprofessional photographer I have ever worked with. There are incredibly talented photographers out there that shoot for the best agencies around that charge her prices. Go to one of them instead.

My hubby and I aren't big fans of being in front of the camera, but Kelsey made us feel very at ease. She was also able handle our two girls (ages 6 and 3), who can be quite the handful. They quickly warmed up to Kelsey and she was able to get such nice candid and genuine smiles from them, which is quite the struggle most of the time.
