Wow! I was very impressed by this GF bakery. We got a cinnamon roll, bagel, cupcake, and scone. My personal favorites were the cinnamon raisin bagel and pumpkin cupcake! We went to cool cats for my niece and her cupcakes who had an egg allergy, and they were amazing!!! A week later I decided to visit kickshaws to pick up a few items for my boyfriend's birthday. He is an avid health nut and doesn't like to consume gluten. I only saw basic chocolate or vanilla gluten free cups cakes and noticed many patrons visiting the refrigerator for pre made treats. They had many more options in there vs what was on display. I was in a rush so from what I was able to view they had mint chocolate, key lime, and chocolate banana cream cupcakes. I decided on the chocolate banana cream. I want to first point out that my boyfriend LOVED the pack of 3 I purchased him. He thought they were delicious. However I'm a little dissatisfied that they were labeled as chocolate banana cream... when the only banana element was the one piece of banana they placed on top for decoration. There wasn't any other element of banana in the cupcake nor any element of a cream. I may be back because even though the banana was completely missing, he enjoyed the rich dark chocolate flavor of the entire cupcake. read more

Wow. This place was amazing. I was meeting my daughter, who lives local to this bakery, for mothers day. The playlist was SO cool, everything from "Thriller", the full movie soundtrack to Ray Lamontagne to Beastie Boys, and even some classic rock. The bread is so delicious, the bagels were beyond good, and the cream cheese that was vegan was better than Philadelphia. The bathrooms were clean, the place was bright, cheery and friendly. Excellent options, tasty treats, friendly and helpful staff and a super fun and comfortable place to be. I was able to get a few things at the Richmond Veg Fest and then a few weeks later was driving through Fredericksburg and stopped and got a few things and I enjoyed everything! It is especially nice to have a truly tasty vegan, gluten free cupcake. It is a TOP 9 Alliance Allergy free place all the way ! We ordered the lemonade, strawberry swirl cake, and a plain bagel with cream cheese. Gluten free, nut free, dairy free, egg free, soy free, tree nut free, fish and shellfish free. The bagel was my favorite and if you like not too sweet lemonade then you will live theirs like I did! My friend and I celebrate our birthdays together yearly. We live 2,000 miles from each other, but it is a special time. This year she suggested Kickshaws. Wow! I had the Benny and Joon hot breakfast sandwich which was perfectly toasted with delicious vegan cheese and green apples. Such a nice sandwich! My friend ordered a cinnamon roll and a mocha drink. The cinnamon roll was warm and for a non-dairy, non-gluten food item it was tasty and wonderful. I bought a sourdough loaf to take home. I have tried gluten free sourdough loaves before, and despite my excellent culinary skills, I have never mastered sourdough. The staff is helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. I recently got a special order key lime pie and it was amazing. They said they were specifically going to use keylimes for the pie, not just lime and lemon mixed, and you can really tell it makes a difference. It was a wonderful texture and perfectly sweet and sour. We literally danced every time we went for another serving. Save your money. I had heard a lot of hype about this place, so I decided to give it a try. I got a brownie, chocolate mini doughnut, and cinnamon roll. Needless to say I was incredibly underwhelmed. The person who took my order was not very personable. The brownie and chocolate donut tasted like plain GF bread with overly sweetened chocolate on top. The only difference between the brownie and donut was the donut had a bit more moisture, but tasted the same otherwise. Last but not least, I feel like nearly $15 for 3 subpar desserts was a bit much. read more

First they opened late and then nothing was even ready but some plain slices of bread. Not worth the trip nor the wait.

Went there after church and tried their caramel muffin, curry chickpea wrap and sausage breakfast sandwich. The caramel muffin was moist and had just the right amount of sweetnesses. The frosting was soft and once again the right amount of sweetness to it. The chickpea wrap was bursting with flavor as well. My husband enjoyed eating his breakfast sandwich. I am impressed by how gluten free food can be delicious too. It's a blessing for me to be able to partake in gluten free products because after my gastric bypass surgery I've developed a very finicky stomach should I happen to eat the wrong thing. My special need daughter 21st birthday is approaching. Her diet is strictly gluten free. This birthday is very special, for the last 20 years we have celebrated her birthday just with family, there were never any other kids at her birthday parties. This year she will have a party with friends. She is very excited and asked me to order a gluten free cake for her and a couple of other guest that can't eat gluten. I submitted my request online as I was directed by the shop's team. I received one email response but after that nothing. I reached out a couple more times but there wasn't a response. I am very disappointed that this person didn't think my special order was important enough to respond. We were so happy to see Kickshaws open in a new location. They haven't skipped a beat- their baked goods are just as delicious as before. We're so thankful their homemade baked goods are both vegan and gluten-free, as it's difficult to find in this area. Plus they taste amazing, so our family members without any dietary restrictions love them too. I also love that the owners do everything.
