This place is a hidden gem! It's a little off the beaten path, tucked away in a back corner, but once you find it, it's a little slice of heaven. There is plenty of nearby parking. The prices were reasonable, and the food was fresh and delicious. The gentleman behind the counter was kind enough to make some suggestions and he did not steer us wrong. I had a cucumber, feta, and avocado sandwich and it was excellent. The avocado was perfectly ripe and he didn't skimp on it! The croissant was soft and fresh and everything balanced out for a delicious meal. There isn't much in the way of ambiance, but it hardly matters when the food is that good. Tried a "new to us" restaurant for brunch today... Here and Abroad Bistro and Bakery My husband and I almost couldn't find it, as we're not very familiar with the downtown area; it's tucked away. I ordered the Ham with Brie and raspberry mayo on a buttered croissant with a side of fruit. My husband ordered the Turkey with cheddar, bacon and honey mustard on a croissant with potato chips. He also ordered us some pastries to go: a white chocolate raspberry flaky croissant and an apple cinnamon flaky croissant (which we haven't yet tried), 2 chocolate truffles, and a lemon tart. We sat outside at the only available seat in the shade, and it was just lovely. Our sandwiches were brought out after about 5 minutes or so. My sandwich was so unbelievably delicious...there are just no words to describe! There was plenty of meat, but not too much. The Brie and raspberry mayo just complimented each other so nicely, and the croissant was oh my goodness... perfect! The goodness of the croissant could have stood on its own. Would I buy this again? I could literally eat this every day. My husband has went on for hours how he thought that I would let him taste mine, as we generally share our meals, but was shocked that I didn't offer him one bite. I couldn't bare to share any of it. But he thoroughly enjoyed his sandwich as well. My fruit was disappointing. The fruit cup is the size of a condiment cup, and had a couple of cubes of apple and grapes, and a half of a strawberry. Although fresh, I will order chips next time. The truffles were not my choice. I tasted one, and they were extremely rich, and would satisfy a true chocolate lover. Personally, I'd rather have a pastry, but my husband who loves chocolate enjoyed them. We shared a lemon tart after dinner. It was moist, flavorful, with a creamy balance of sweet lemon curd. Loved it! We haven't yet tried our fruity croissants, but I can already tell that I'm going to love them. I'm so happy to have finally tried this gem. What a fantastic sandwich I had! First time here and had the turkey and Havarti on roll and MDP had chicken salad on roll. It was delicious. We each had fruit as our side, and it was a tasty little fruit salad, just enough. Then we had a moose for dessert and also a cheesecake brownie, which were delicious as well. Will definitely recommend. Everything taste so fresh and was so delicious! I definitely want to go back when it's warmer to sit on the beautiful patio. I've passed this place for years and never have been before. Not many places can surprise me, but this one did (even after reading up on Yelp before going)! It's a quaint little cafe with LOTS of options. At first, I was worried there were too many options and none of them would be spectacular. I was wrong! I ordered the Open Sesame Chicken Salad (a cold salad on a cold day) and it was exactly what I wanted. There was plenty of chicken, fruits, greens, nuts, and the dressing was just delicious! I also had a sweet iced tea with it which was made fresh and very good. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate mousse cake. Yum! Many restaurants like this have too broad a menu and can't keep each item to the same standards but Here & Abroad was all around delicious- others in my group loved their meals too. The owner was working at the time and was extraordinarily pleasant, working to make our food and drink quickly. It was impressive how quickly they got out 4+ meals (all different), really only a 15 minute wait if not less. The place can be a little hard to find, so just trust your map and the few signs they have outside. I highly recommend you stop by for a dessert or a meal if you're passing through! First of all Fredericksburg is an adorable little town (though not the BEST place when trying to be a cautious traveler during a pandemic). It would appear that few people know about this spot because you go from crowded sidewalks to a little getaway to reach the front door. You can order to go or eat at one of the little outdoor bistro style tables surrounded by beautiful plants and charming birds. The guy behind the counter is very kind and attentive, whenever we have gone and he was out of something he is quick to provide alternatives and apologies. But ever with an item being out, he still delivers perfect sandwiches. I don't think we have ever had a sandwich that wasn't 100% delicious. My preference is definitely the four seasons, and the kids grilled cheese is literally the best you'll ever find. I will warn those looking for a quick grab and go to be patient. My boyfriend and I went into this establishment because we didn't know it was there and wanted to check it out, we went to buy a panini and while trying to decide what to get, the owner looked at me and said "What do you want, babygirl?" My boyfriend and I went silent and looked at each other as he went into the back, "Was that weird?" He asked me, and I nodded and said yes. I waited outside after the inappropriate comment, and then when my boyfriend went in to grab our food, he gave him extra napkins and said "Just in case she makes a mess." The chef is Purna Shrestha, and he is welcoming, friendly, and will make any suggestions/recommendations. Some favorites are the salads and the croissant sandwiches, in which the croissants are always baked fresh on a daily basis. Very good find. I found Here &Abroad by chance waking down Princess Ann street. Pastries were great! We had Strawberry, raspberry and white chocolate, spinach and feta, and ham and Swiss. All great. Dang this little place is a GEM! I came in this morning for the first time and tried out their spinach and feta cheese croissant and their chocolate scone. It's freshly baked and gosh it's good. The savory croissants are so good I could eat this everyday and they're also so unique! The scone is not too sweet, which I like, and is perfect with some coffee. I didn't expect to find such fine pastries in this hole in the wall in Fredericksburg but I'm so glad I stopped by this small business. Visited this wonderful little restaurant today for lunch. I've been all over Fredericksburg and wanted something new. Here & Abroad did not disappoint. The staff and owner were extremely friendly, thoughtful, and attentive. I had the four seasons panini, a cup of the red pepper soup, and I couldn't help myself and got a tiramisu for desert. Everything was wonderful, may be the best sandwich and soup I've had in the Fredericksburg area. The desserts were also wonderful. Fresh, packed with flavor, and great pricing. I will return! I'm a huge fan of this hidden gem. Whenever I come to Fredericksburg - I have two things I love to do. Get some local coffee, and visit Here & Abroad to pick up some fresh croissants or have a sandwich. Here & Abroad reminds me of a Parisan bakery/deli. It is small, with only about three tables inside and a few on the front patio. It is nestled on the side of the building right before you reach Hyperion (usually has a chalkboard sign out front). On to the food: They have an amazing selection of fresh croissants (chocolate, almond, etc) elephant ears, and lots of little pastries. I often pick up a bag of croissants for the family - and they love them! They also have a full lunch menu with sandiwches, salads and other items. I usually always get the sandwich (on croissant) with turkey, avocado, lettuce and tomato. Sounds like a pretty simple sandwich but, the croissant makes all the difference. It is always warm, with right amount buttery flavor. They serve the sandwich with a side - I always go with the fruit. It is the perfect lunch spot.
