Watching my 3 year old jump into the deep end from the observation room.

Hmm, no reviews seems like an injustice for this place. So, I was randomly driving to kill about 20 minutes and decided that I'd never really paid attention to the strip of Rt 1 between 43 and Honeygo. I usually either get off at Rt 43 or get on going north at Honeygo. Starting at Honeygo going south, Kids First Swim caught my attention on the right, so I decided to go it. I'm really glad I did because they were having a December special class - two 30 minute classes a week for 3 weeks for $55. What a steal, so I signed my daughter up. We're not through that special yet, but we've already signed her up for the next session. She's learning so much and having so much fun, she cries when class is over. Also, a pretty cool feature of having her enrolled in the class is on weekend nights from 7-9 there's family free swim. The pool area is clean and the temperature nice. The changing rooms are a decent size and pretty clean (only earning a 'pretty clean' because I'm grossed out by hair and sometimes there's noticeable hair on the floor, but this should be expected considering....but still). The bathrooms aren't fancy, but clean and functional. All in all, the December deal is what sucked me in and it worked. Now we're happy customers.

It's a great facility for the summer time since it is only open from Memorial Day until Labor Day. There's aqua Zumba and water yoga available for an extra fee if members are interested and they seem to be very popular. You can also bring your own food in, which most pools don't allow, but Jennifer doesn't sell food so that's a plus as well. All of the staff are high school or college students who are trained and knows their job very well. I'd highly recommend this pool for the summer time.

One parent goes in with her and does all of the activities holding her. She just moved up to the next level, meaning the instructors will start to do more with her while we observe nearby. It's made her more comfortable and used to water. Some cons - the instructors rotate so she hasn't bonded with anyone. We also don't know anyone's names - there are 0 introductions to the instructors or other parents/kids. Also, the administrative side of things isn't the most organized. Her class was cancelled on Saturday, but then we got an email 40 min later saying it was back on and there was no one to answer the phone. The 1st day up until the last was an amazing and very humbling experience and to say all Kat's swim instructors extremely awesome is an understatement. There much more than awesome. They work with you in whatever it is you need help with. That can be free style, back float, front float, etc....you name it. There very patient and value your time you have for class. They take there time to demonstrate any style or technique you need before any expectations of any student. My classes were normally on Monday and Wednesday's but another thing I love about this place is they work with your schedule. There were some days I couldn't make my normal schedule, but Kay would let me make it up on a Saturday. If your starting from never have been in the water to some experience, this is the place for you for sure. In my 3 months I have spent at the pool classes, I have learned so much from day one. I can successfully leave with the convivence I was looking for. This place is affordable in my opinion and worth every dollar spent. I would definitely recommend British Swim School in Towson to anyone. Thank you ladies for everything. LJ

Forced me to create an account, provide details about where we live and leave a phone number. The process was a bit confusing as they also asked for credit card to be on file even though we weren't purchasing anything, just trying to attend a party. Thankfully the host of the party had sent out a detailed text letting the party attendees know how to accurately fill out the form. The party itself was cool. We arrived at the allotted time and were greeted by an employee who seemed the party host. She took our gifts and we went in and mingled a bit while others arrived. Once they were ready to start, the kids were taken to the pool area, which was separated from the non swimmers and party area by a floor to ceiling glass wall that ran the length of the pool. Keeping the wet and dry separate.... brilliant idea! The host gave them instructions, lifeguards did a quick swim test and then the kids got to swim. After swimming, pizza was served, cake was served, birthday songs were sung and games were played. The host and lifeguards served the pizza, cut and served the cake and got the games started. There were ample changing areas (I believe at least nine) so that kids weren't standing around wet and waiting to change. Once the party was done the swim school provided goody bags that included a balloon, cotton candy, a coloring page and a couple trinkets. I'm not sure if during the waiver process I filled in the wrong thing but I have received at least one call since the party asking about swimming lessons. I don't love that. Goldfish Swim School hosted an excellent party. Registration was a bit tedious and it remains to be seen how much solicitation will occur post party, that's what makes this a four star instead of five star experience.

I was given a tour, some insight on the best times to swim, and information about future swim lessons. The staff is very friendly and they're waiting for you all to come swim! It's not a very big pool, but the secret is that not many people know it's open. So today I had it all to myself aside from a few women who were doing water aerobics. I've found it hard to get in touch with the instructors/manager to pay for my sons session and it's too much work to do as a paying customer to feel like you have to chase down someone to get a class scheduled. I'm in a few social media groups for autistic parents and one of them are affiliated in Baltimore. Many of the parents of autistic children shared the same sentiment of the Goldfish Schools that either instructors keep leaving or they cannot find instructors who are qualified with working with children with special needs. Should we all stick with one on one swimming lessons, maybe, but some special needs children learn faster in social settings to mimic their peers and also shouldn't be subjected to isolation to learn a life saving skill. I too feel like it's an inviting supportive atmosphere hence our lengthy run with them, however there are a few aspects that could make it a 5 star experience. 1) Longer Classes or smaller groups per lane. With only 25 minutes of actual instruction (the last 5 is talking about each child's progress) and 4 kids per lane, each child really gets maybe 5 or 6 minutes and that's providing everyone actually gets in the pool on time AND is prepared not still adjusting goggles while everyone else waits etc. 2) Better visibility/monitoring of the changing area by staff. The staff is either all behind the counter or in the pool area so many parents will hold up inside the dressing rooms instead of going in to hear about their swimmers progress leaving the rest of us to stand in line and wait for their child to get out and come "find" the room being reserved for them. Shame on those parents! Having some staff support to alleviate that issue would go a long way!
