The store was filled with cute clothes (primarily for little girls) and various miscellaneous items (from shoes and jewelry to books and games). If I had an unlimited budget, I could have purchased a dozen things! Pink Chicken is not a cheap brand, so for that reason, I stuck with the clearance rack. I found two adorable dresses and a pair of fun printed leggings on clearance for my 1.5 year old daughter and then couldn't resist adding on a cute bracelet at checkout. Though I understand the need to price these quality clothes higher than average, I do wish they were a tiny bit more affordable.

The prices are reasonable and much of their stuff is made near Charleston. They also have a stand with games, puzzles, and puzzle boxes in the covered marketplace. Also, the lady that works in the store is helpful and nice. I don't know how she managed to serve all the customers/kids packed into the store without stressing out! What really stood out for me was an artist who went by Andy, who had a collection of pop art vinyl records that was genuinely fantastic. Using mixed media, he created pieces featuring different singers, musicians, and bands on old vinyl records, which felt both clever and beautifully done. I chose an amazing Mary J. Blige piece that was also hand-painted, and I was absolutely thrilled with it. The value of your dollar was VERY worth getting one (or more)! Cash only! Overall, this was a thoroughly enjoyable wander and a very good place to find art, gifts, and a few things you did not know you needed. I would happily go back.

There are countess vendors throughout this retail galleria. We enjoyed mainly browsing the works of products that were officially certified as Handmade in Charleston. You won't get tired of looking, but a lot of repeat sellers. It's essentially like a flea market if you will. It was fun, but way too much basket weaving vendors. Was so intriguing to watch the Gullah artistry & understand its importance here, but would have liked to have seen and explored MORE local foods. Wished that they would have had a specific area that was an actual type of wet market/ open-air concept or traditional marketplace that sells fresh, perishable foods like meat, seafood, and produce focusing more on local eats and food heritage of its distinct low country cuisine. There were some food spots, just not what we had envisioned or experiencing with other east coast markets we've been to. Bought a bottled water that was over $5! We come for SEWE every year. I have stopped in before and found myself in the same situation again this time. The owner is rude and then I wondered why the store was empty on such a big weekend for Charleston. The prices are crazy high, I went online and found another store that had the same things for 25.00 to 30.00 cheaper, so I went there instead and the atmosphere was more pleasant than at Kids on King.. They no longer have to worry about us shopping there any longer .. Two times and lesson learned. So experience went as follows. We walked in and were greeted by two employees that looked miserable to be there. I shopped around and as I was walking around the prices seemed to be around 65.00 for a smock set. I was willing to pay it at the time until the owner walks out and says "you cant be that deal and its better quality then I am sure most kids wear".. I just kept shopping until she says.."look see those people are out of their range, they need to be shopping the sale racks"!!! I was done.... No worries you can keep your overpriced clothes that can be found online and other stores for a MUCH better price! read more
