The store was filled with cute clothes (primarily for little girls) and various miscellaneous items (from shoes and jewelry to books and games). If I had an unlimited budget, I could have purchased a dozen things! Pink Chicken is not a cheap brand, so for that reason, I stuck with the clearance rack. I found two adorable dresses and a pair of fun printed leggings on clearance for my 1.5 year old daughter and then couldn't resist adding on a cute bracelet at checkout. Though I understand the need to price these quality clothes higher than average, I do wish they were a tiny bit more affordable.

John and I have a 2 1/2 year old grandson and a new granddaughter on the way! Due very soon. I found the magnetic pajamas and was determined to pick one out- that took easily 20 minutes. Then we were off exploring more of the store- the cashier might have nudged us to go upstairs!. This shop has three floors with stairs or an elevator to continue the shopping experience! We picked out a toy four our 1 year old niece and a couple more goodies for the grandbabies and I told him we had to check out before we broke the triple digit threshold- because that's easy to do. My daughter would have loved to have shopped here! Great gift buying.

Don't miss out on their accessories - I have a hat and sunglasses from here that are my go to's. Especially love the dresses since I'm 5'10" tall women and the dresses are long enough to cover my bum, unlike fast fashion brands. Love at the attention to detail, the clothes are obvi designed by individuals who put a lot of time and effort into their design. Great patterns and color as well. I now go to Abercrombie & Fitch for my staples (jeans, body suits, white/tan/black solids) and scotch & soda for all my fun pieces.

I am a firm believer in play as education for toddlers so most toys are educational but these actually challenge the mind and my toddler feels proud of herself for completing these. The prices are reasonable and much of their stuff is made near Charleston. They also have a stand with games, puzzles, and puzzle boxes in the covered marketplace. Also, the lady that works in the store is helpful and nice. I don't know how she managed to serve all the customers/kids packed into the store without stressing out! The folks at the stand are pretty nice too as long as you keep the products on the table while you're trying them out. ;)

It is full of jewelry, handmade gifts, local art, and all manner of treasures, and so many visitors seem to love the same thing: the sheer variety and the chance to find something that actually feels special rather than mass-produced. That absolutely tracked for us. The Market itself has been a Charleston staple for over 200 years, and it still feels lively, local, and full of character. What really stood out for me was an artist who went by Andy, who had a collection of pop art vinyl records that was genuinely fantastic. Using mixed media, he created pieces featuring different singers, musicians, and bands on old vinyl records, which felt both clever and beautifully done. I chose an amazing Mary J. Blige piece that was also hand-painted, and I was absolutely thrilled with it. The value of your dollar was VERY worth getting one (or more)! Cash only! Overall, this was a thoroughly enjoyable wander and a very good place to find art, gifts, and a few things you did not know you needed. I would happily go back.

It's one of the oldest public markets in the U.S. Has weathered many storms and has been registered in the National Registry of Historic Places. Established in 1788 (even though the inside entrance stats 1807) & as of today it still stands on the premises of monetary trades & services, as well as shared cultural heritage. There are countess vendors throughout this retail galleria. We enjoyed mainly browsing the works of products that were officially certified as Handmade in Charleston. You won't get tired of looking, but a lot of repeat sellers. It's essentially like a flea market if you will. It was fun, but way too much basket weaving vendors. Was so intriguing to watch the Gullah artistry & understand its importance here, but would have liked to have seen and explored MORE local foods. Wished that they would have had a specific area that was an actual type of wet market/ open-air concept or traditional marketplace that sells fresh, perishable foods like meat, seafood, and produce focusing more on local eats and food heritage of its distinct low country cuisine. There were some food spots, just not what we had envisioned or experiencing with other east coast markets we've been to. Bought a bottled water that was over $5!
