Kids on Stage offers a magical theater program, and we feel so lucky to have found it. Our 7 year old has now taken two camps here, and of all the many camps she's taken over the years, this is her absolute favorite. They are true to their philosophy in providing individualized attention and customizing the program to each child's abilities and needs. My daughter loves the teachers including Miss Lauren and Miss Brooklinn and has made new friends at each camp she's attended. It's a well-run program, and they even provide amazing photos of the finale performance after each camp session. At the most recent camp, there was a change in the camp theme which made me a little uneasy at first because it wasn't what we initially signed up for, but Beth and Cari made me feel absolutely comfortable with the change and further, once the camp started, it was clear that they had taken in my feedback and were paying attention and were listening to our daughter's interests and hopes for the camp. Our 5YO son has taken multiple KOS virtual classes. They have given him an incredible amount of confidence, and have helped him thrive in his other online classes in this crazy time. Ms. Cari and the teachers at KOS are affirming and supportive, and let the kids thrive on their own. My daughter has done 2 camps/ programs here as a 4 year old and absolutely loves it! We have been exceptionally pleased with the plays of the day curricula and student to teacher ratio --which never exceeds 1:6. The cost for such a program w that ratio is also very reasonable. At the risk of making it more difficult for me to get my daughter into the classes we want due to increased interest in this program -- I have to say that I can't say enough good things about Kids on Stage. read more

My daughter has been in two KOS camps and three KOS productions including Peter Pan, Oliver and Sound of Music. One of the camps they spent an entire week doing Mama Mia songs and on the last day, we saw all the kids sing most of the songs - it was amazing! She started at age 4 and her most recent was at age 8. It has been a magical experience watching her blossom, build self-confidence, and learn so many classic and timeless songs that we would sing around the house. It's honestly the most precious thing. She really bonded with all her teachers. They were very good with her. It's a great place to feel "normal" when you are an "out of the box" kid! They go above and beyond with sets, costumes, choreography and creatively crafting the play to accommodate multiple players and give everyone enough stage time based on their abilities. My daughter loves Kids on Stage. She has taken classes there for the past two years and is excited to go to class every week. The plays the kids do are age appropriate and the children have a great time doing them. The classes take place in a real playhouse and at the culmination of each session the kids perform a play on a real stage. The performances are great and so wonderful for building self esteem. My daughter has participated in Kids on Stage theater productions during the school year and summer camps - the instruction is excellent, the kids have fun, and they learn. What do they learn? (1) How to work together to achieve a common goal, (2) how to communicate effectively, (3) how to manage conflict in a way that is fair for everyone involved, (4) theater skills (how to take direction, public speaking, confidence, how to understand & create a character using voice, expression, and physical movement, etc). Our elementary school recently partnered with Kids on Stage for our After School Enrichment Classes program. Their opening show, You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, was delightful. But that was just the cherry on top. The real treat is the way this group of actor/directors treats children with unfailing respect, and the way they tailor their shows to meet the needs of the cast. Our multi-age group of thespians felt supported, confident, and comfortable on stage. Children who could handle a lot were given a lot to do. Children who could only handle so much were given only that much. It was a positive experience for all because every child was set up for success. KOS is currently rehearsing their second musical with us, Alice in Wonderland. This cast, some new members and some returning, look forward to rehearsal every single week! read more

I am really sorry to read the bad review from the other poster. My daughter has been with KOS for over 3 years, and we have had nothing but the most positive experience with this theater group. I actually like that the needs of the kids are put ahead of having the perfect final performance -- which really what can you expect in the younger years? That said, all of the performances my daughter has been in have been excellent - well directed, and organized. The scripts are always age appropriate with the right content and language, and there always seems to be the right amount of rehearsal and instruction without pressure. I have always appreciated that the kids could enjoy the whole process and every class (the journey, if you will) without there being an overemphasis on the final production. The kids then feel more natural, and as though it's just another rehearsal, only now there is an audience when it is finally showtime. I also like that all the kids feel like their role is the most important one, even if they are not the "lead" because they are fair about how much stage time the kids get. Theater is great for all kids, and these guys do a great job. I have watched my daughter blossom through these classes. Her needs have consistently been met with thoughtfulness and kindness, and she has had more fun in this class than any other class she's taken (and she has taken quite a few). Every season she BEGS me to renew her. The Director, Eve Keller, is brilliant, and the other teachers (that i have experienced) have all been great! They also make an effort to help you find the best class that's the right fit for your child. Can't say enough about this program. Have really been impressed. read more

My daughter is in her second KOS program so far and loves it. She is learning acting terms and body movements that show up in our daily lives. The teachers seem warm and engaging. While I have yet to see a performance, the finished product is not important to me (they are young children!). The fact that my child is happy and learning how to see the world from the perspective of another is. She is learning this at KOS. I would recommend the program. read more

If you are looking for warm, professional acting class for your child, this is the place. My daughter has been attending for four years and just loves it! She has learned so much, and we have enjoyed her performances. She's done everything from Shakespeare to High School Musical. I've been very impressed by how organized everyone is, and by how much they allow the students to contribute to the shows themselves (writing and choreography). My daughter has participated in KOS for a few years already and it's absolutely her FAVORITE extra-curricular activity. She has loved the process of bringing a script to life and has learned to work with other children as a team. These are precious skills.
