As soon as I confirmed that I was indeed Ukrainian she stressed that the first class is free since I'm new to the gym, but I have to pay next time I come in. Frankly, I wasn't even aware of that the first class was free - I was happy to pay. She then proceeded telling me how "all these Ukrainians" take advantage and "think they can just sneak into free classes without paying". I was extremely offended by such blatant generalizations. Needless to say, I walked out immediately as I feared that a person of my nationality would be unwelcome there. And based on a quick look around the place, it felt like a dungeon and the equipment was dated. I wouldn't recommend it.

Great selection of quality cardio equipment. The gym is a little small but in my one month of membership I have not had to wait for any equipment (although I typically work out past 8PM - rush hour might be different.) Seems to have a good selection of class offerings although I haven't attended any. Facility is very clean and extremely pleasing aesthetically. There is always somebody walking around cleaning. Age group 18 and up and members have solid gym etiquette; practically all weights are always in the right place. The weekend hours could be better. It's open till 11pm on Friday, 7pm on Saturday /Sunday, and midnight on weekdays. Overall 4.5/5, very solid gym, extended hours would make it 5/5 for me.

Unlike many CrossFit gyms, Validus doesn't have that competitive vibe. It's welcoming for people at any fitness level, with members of all ages and abilities. It's a very supportive atmosphere and really feels like a big family. One great thing about CrossFit workouts is that they can be scaled to the level of the individual. Even though I've been going for years, there are still movements I can't do. But that doesn't matter because I can just substitute whatever the weight or movement might be for something I can manage. Another thing I love about CrossFit is that you're always doing something different, so you don't have to worry about getting bored with the workouts. Lastly, but certainly not least, I really appreciate the social element of going to the gym. I work from home, so I don't have a lot of social interaction throughout the day. Going to Validus gives me a regular social outlet where I can laugh and have fun with like-minded, good people. If you're looking for a fun way to get in shape or if you're curious about what CrossFit is all about, I highly recommend you stop by Validus and see what you think. I'm pretty sure they offer free introductory classes to try it out. Ask for Andrew--he's the owner and a super cool guy. P.S. I realize this might sound like I'm the owner or somehow benefiting from promoting Validus, but the truth is that I'm just a longtime member who loves his gym.

For anyone's first time going, it's best to search for Chungchun Rice Dog as GoodLife is located right beside it. The gym is divided into two levels, with a majority of the cardio machines on the lower level, and weights on the upper level. In comparison to a few Goodlife I work at, this location isn't my favourite. I've came a couple times already, and the front desk workers never greet or even look at you, the gym has an odor because it's not regularly cleaned like other locations I've been to. Also, the workers don't do their job of maintaining the paper towels as there were many times it was empty at a lot of stations, and they also don't try to clean up the weights/ placing them back. The vibes at this location just isn't it with the people who come; either they're very loud and drop the weights where the whole floor shakes, or you have people who hogs two machines. I saw a girl ask another girl to not change the weights or setup because she already "prepped it", but that girl wasn't even finished using her current machine yet. Overall, workers and the people who attend aren't the friendliest here, and if I ever get the chance, I would go to another location.

It was a cold, snowy Saturday…read moremorning on this Februray when I arrived at LA Aurora as a premium member, accompanied by a guest who was there for a dance class. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any parking spots, and since my guest was running late for the class, I decided to temporarily park in front of the entrance to accompany her inside first. After I scanned my barcode using the app, I planned to head back out and search for parking again. However, when I returned, my guest told me that Faye, the assistant manager of membership, had tried to stop her and threatened to cancel her membership. I was really shocked to hear this, especially since my guest hadn't been disrespectful at all; she was simply a bit unpatient about the class starting. Then, the following Monday, I received an email stating that my membership had been canceled, without any prior notice or communication. I found this extremely aggressive and unprofessional. When I asked Faye why my membership was canceled, she claimed it was because I didn't work out alongside my guest. I tried to explain my parking situation, but she didn't seem to care. I even asked for clarification on whether there's a policy about returning to your car for necessary items, but I didn't get any clear answer. It felt like she was abusing her authority to cancel memberships without valid reasons. I then reached out to the membership manager, hoping to resolve this issue. However, it seemed like there's a significant lack of accountability in their team. The manager said they see over a thousand members every day and are trying to prevent unauthorized access. But this wasn't my situation at all, and he seemed not interested in my concerns. When I requested a refund for my last month's deposit, the remaining balance on my annual membership (which has over nine months left), and the unused days of the canceled month, I felt like my concerns were being kicked around and they treat me like a fool. Because of all this, I have to file formal complaints with Consumer Ontario and the Better Business Bureau, but I still haven't received any refund. The most ridiculous part that the feedback from the organization claimed I used my membership too frequently, and that was their excuse for denying my refund LOL At this point, I'm feeling quite lost and unsure about how to get my money back. I would really appreciate any assistance or guidance anyone can provide.

However, when I arrived, I discovered a discrepancy in the price, so I decided not to proceed. Then, I found out I had already been charged. I demanded a refund and was called a liar and a scammer by the employee. It took 14 days to receive my membership refund, and for the trainer, they deducted $62.15.

So I called and wanted to switch him to another day we were not previously scheduled. The owner would NOT accommodate him! She said: " no cancellation, no switch. If you want a different date, you need to pay $20 dollars for switch." She was also very, very rude. So I ended up losing $25. ( if you don't sign up for the whole team training which is $1000, you pay $25 per time. And you have to give the dates ahead of the time and pay the full amount at the beginning. If your child is sick, you lose $25 every time.) What is unfair is, these rules are not written on any forms nor on their website. Plus, there are times the Center had to cancel the class due to them hosting games. So the "no change" rule only applies to customers, not themselves! Another example is that I signed up my son for winter camp and paid money. Then they cancelled the camp because they could not get anybody else. These incidents show how inflexible and inconsiderate the owners of Machi Badminton Training Centrer are. They reflect really badly about this new center. So I suggest people please be very careful when joining this centre. Make sure you know the cancellation/refund policy before joining in.
