Trust me, you'll get a reminder two weeks ahead of payment due. They staff up the class to its full capacity and not enough teachers. My daughter has been sick every week since enrolled, Monday through Friday. I send her healthy on Monday morning, and by Tuesday, she's sick. Since first month, my daughter was enrolled, she went part time, and I'd pick her up at least 2 or 3 hours ahead of time, and I informed the director that one day I would be late to pick her up by 10 minutes that they found a lump in me that I needed to get checked. My husband picked my daughter up 10 minutes past the deadline, and I received a bill. Every month they have you provide donations on behalf of the school, so they can get credit. My daughter is an only child and contracted on her first week being there on 8/20/15 hand, foot, mouth disease. I did not receive one call to pick her up. When I arrived to pick her up, I was told to take her to the doctor. On four occasions after, she's had a fever of 103, at daycare and there wasn't any medicine administered to her. They mentioned that they didn't feel her that warm. The last straw, was Tuesday, 5/31/16, my daughter went to school and my father went to visit at 9 am, they told him she wasn't available. That same day I went to pick her up, and noticed a terrible rash all over her body. When I asked, they told me that 4 other kids have contracted it in the class last week, and that the Director Lucia Sousa, will not let my child return without a doctor's note. I went to speak to the director and ask why no one called me, why no one told my father especially since he had visited that day, and Mrs. Sousa was too concerned with making copies of checks (since it's pay day for her, because parents must pay a week prior). My daughter has been out for the last 3 days of school and not one teacher or director has called. Today, my husband went to pick up her items, and the director has the audacity to ask for June's payment that is due for next week. To Kiddie College of South Miami, you are just a number. There is no personal attention. You have been warned. I can furnish copies of all incidents from her doctor.

Apple destination confirmed that this school does not hold accreditation. Starting with that fact, please read and consider another school. Unfortunately over the past few weeks, we have observed concerning behavior from both the teachers and the students in the prek 2 room, deeming the space unsafe for our child. In our opinion, the physical nature in which the teachers address the children is not up to the standards that we hold for our family. On multiple occasions we have witnessed the prek 2 teacher and teachers assistant engaging in tactics to physically manipulate, move or reposition children throughout the classroom space in a way that appears aggressive. There is a very apparent lack of warmth, patience and care that is expected and necessary to deal with children. Additionally, observing the interactions between students with hitting, kicking and pushing also makes us concerned for the safety of our child (and the others in the classroom). We have worked very hard to teach our children what is and is not acceptable when it comes disagreements and violence. While I understand that some of these behaviors can be "normal", they are not being dealt with in a way that we see as adequate from the teacher. We feared for her safety, and worried that she would pick up negative behaviors in this environment. In terms of the classroom environment, we have not seen structured lessons, co-learning facilitated by an instructor or any type of curriculum applied. As a person who has worked in education administration for over a decade, it makes me very concerned for the students academic development. I am all for open play, and I agree that play is a large part of active learning, but there needs to be some kind of facilitation. For us, this type of classroom does not lend success for our child. In regards to usage of screen time, though we had a brief conversation about the use of the phone in the classroom, I felt that if there is a policy in place for use of screens, it should be abided by. We as parents are also required to follow the schools policies, and we expect the same rule book to be followed by staff. If the children were engaged in structured learning throughout the day, the screen use would not bother us as much - I understand it can also be a teaching tool- but in this case, it very much is applied as a distraction and a bandaid. It's quite sad to me that you have a room full of curious, wonderful and excited children with little intent to keep them engaged in other, hands on ways. I wish what I experienced was a joke. I wish what I saw wasn't actually what's going on here. Let me say this- we are a daycare family. My kid has been in school since she was 3 months old. I was horrified by the way this teacher handled her students and I do not think it was appropriate. Further, in discussing with the director, it was very clear that nothing would change. In fact, she was present in the classroom for some of the behaviors. Take your child elsewhere. There are plenty of options. This specific classroom is not safe.

While the "No parents beyond the waiting area" policy remains in place, I've found that there are still effective ways to stay connected with my child's education and teachers. Upon request, teachers are available to speak with parents during drop-off or pick-up times, and phone calls are welcome for important communications. I recently attended a parent-teacher conference with my daughter's teacher, which was informative with regard to my child's development. The school has been proactive in sharing information about classroom activities, allowing me to reinforce learning concepts at home. Additionally, Treehouse organizes monthly activities where parents can participate, fostering engagement with the school community. I've come to understand the operational efficiency of the new drop-off system, which helps classrooms run more smoothly. Also, on most days I feel like the drop off at the front of the school in the waiting area is a better transition into the day for my child. I still believe It would be beneficial if parents could pick up their children from the classroom or playground, as this provides valuable insight into the learning environment and allows for a brief connection with my child's teacher. I'd really appreciate it if Treehouse would consider allowing parents back into the playground for pickups. I appreciate the administration's responsiveness to parent concerns and their willingness to discuss and address issues. Treehouse has demonstrated a commitment to maintaining open communication and finding ways to keep parents involved in their children's education. Overall, my experience with Treehouse has been a positive one and I'm grateful for their efforts to balance operational needs with parent involvement. Thank you to the administration for working with me and all my questions and concerns. And, thank you to the wonderful teachers who my daughter adores!
