My son…read morestarted here at 2 years old, having had very little interaction with people outside of close family and friends. From day one, the center made his transition smooth and welcoming. One of my biggest concerns was his speech delay. When he started in October 2024, he was barely verbal. Now, in July 2025, he's using two-word phrases consistently. KinderCare helped us get connected with speech therapy, and the growth I've seen in him is undeniable. The center itself is always clean, organized, and professional. They offer extras like soccer, water play, and music/phonics lessons that keep my son, Euro, engaged and happy. Every staff member is wonderful, but I want to highlight a few: Nimat, the director, has been so helpful and hands-on. Derryl leads phonics and music classes, which Euro loves. His main teacher, Miss Beverly, is amazing--very patient and hands-on. Ms. Lita and Mr. Marcus are also favorites of my son; he really enjoys their energy and support. The center's communication is top-tier. The app they use makes it easy for me to stay updated with pictures, videos, and daily reports. Meals and snacks are provided, along with diapers and wipes, which is super convenient. We're so happy with the care and progress Euro has made that we've decided to keep him enrolled for the next learning level. I…read moreused to teach Montessori when I was in college and I can testify that not all preschools are as high quality as you would hope, but I have been extremely pleased with our experience at Family Academy of Bethesda in both the younger and older classrooms. They take care of things for you and are completely child-centered, and they somehow manage to be laid back and provide a stronger academic program than most schools. The kids are all lively and sweet and engaged-- I was a little worried about preschool crushing my son's spirit but Family Academy really seems to follow the Montessori idea for real and created a real curiosity and love of learning in my 2 year old. It is so fun to watch him color and wash dishes and it's clear he enjoys it. The school buildings are a little dilapidated, but I think that's because the staff is focused on quality teaching for the kids rather than expanding and looking fancy to attract more parents. Anyway they are totally clean and each classroom is it's own house, which is really cute. Definitely would recommend it if you can get a spot.

The staff is super friendly, supportive, and treat my daughter like a celebrity everyday which makes her world. She's been attending for four months, and since day 3, she walks in with so much confidence. She was home prior, and the transition was very easy. She's always doing activities with her hands and working on her motor skills. I love the small class settings. I do wish she had a few more little friends in her group, but she does get to mingle with the other kids in a few activities. It's surprisingly quiet and peaceful when you walk in. The staff and administration are incredibly organized and provide a great deal of communication, everything from monthly and weekly lesson plans, an up-to-date daily photos and captions, and great verbal updates each day when we pick up our babies. I couldn't be more pleased with the educational track. They begin each new transition with a one-one meeting to discuss schedules, teaching philosophy, and provide an opportunity for parents to provide input. Throughout the child's stay, they provide detailed input of his/her progress through a true educational and physical standards -- showing milestones and next steps. I am certain that a large reason for my oldest was preparation and familiarity with PreK was from his days at the Harbor. Lastly, but just as important, I have observed that the leadership is incredibly supportive of their staff -- which is why we have had such a low turnover of teachers. At the same time, we have seen several teachers grow into expanded roles. We are so pleased that it's such a great family environment at The Harbor.
