This Kiehl's is conveniently located, large, and fairly well organized. "Fairly," because many of the men's products are located in different areas - some are under "Men's" and some are under specialty areas such as "Hair" or "Skin." But if you can't find something the staff will assist you quickly. As always seems to be the case, some product has been replaced with some newer product. Their wheel of bonuses is fun, and you really don't have to lock in on what you spin, if, for example, you'd really like the adjacent item on the wheel better. I happened to be walking by while on vacation and they were having a VIP party and also fundraising for AMFAR! I didn't know much about the organization but learned a lot while I was there. Free massages and facials were provided, as well as finger foods and Fiji water bottles. It was really fun and they had a raffle for a full size bottle of creme de corps every few minutes! I was at the party for almost 2 hours and try finally called my boyfriend's name!! I was so happy! They were also selling a special hand salve with a red cap, bought these since 100% of the net proceeds go to the aids foundation! Armed with my 10 empties, I made my way to Kiehl's to claim my free $25 product. It's marketing genius on the part of Kiehl's. For every product you use, you save the container and give it back to them as part of their recycling program. Ten containers entitles you to a free product up to $25. It's a great deal, and encourages me to use more of their products which I happen to love anyway. I walked in on Saturday morning as soon as they opened and no one was there except for the salesperson, Meg, who was a dead-ringer for Brittany Murphy in "Clueless" (post-makeover). She asked if I owed my beautiful skin to Kiehl's. Maybe this was a ploy to sell more stuff, but it sure made my day. She was so helpful and friendly and I ended up staying in there for about 10 minutes just to chat. I came away with their Grapefruit Body Scrub, which was gratis, a men's lip balm, and Amino Acid Conditioner. Meg also gave me several samples, including their new Midnight Recovery, which is a serum that gets massaged into your face at night and you wake up to glowy and healthy skin. I am definitely going back and buying a full size. She also gave me a very generous sample of Imperial Body Balm, which smells heavenly - like a cross between coconut and vanilla ice cream. It's rich and thick, and my skin just drinks it in. Don't let the fact that these products are also sold in Neiman Marcus and Saks fool you. Kiehl's is reasonably priced and satisfaction is guaranteed. Your skin and your wallet have nothing to lose. Go there and try their products. Your skin will thank you. read more

I'm giving one star because Yelp won't Let me give ZERO stars! I have visited this store three times. My first visit, I walked in on a Sunday afternoon and I had to ask for help even though there was only one other customer there and 3 reps chatting behind the counter. The girl that helped me, didn't catch her name, wasn't of any help at all. She had no recommendations for products and almost rolled her eyes at me when I told her that I didn't know what I was doing when it came to skincare. I came away with their "best selling product" the ultra facial cream. Let me tell you I had to return it because it didn't do anything for me at all. The second time I visited was a Thursday morning and I had the store all to myself. I came in for their friends and family sale and went away ecstatic... Spending close to $200 dollars! Why did i spend so much?! Because the rep I had was awesome and she totally sold me on each product with rave reviews! Which brings me to my third visit of this store. I came in on a somewhat busy Sunday again and was not greeted. I had to approach someone and ask for help. I found Meg and told her i came in to return a couple products that were not working for me as I had hoped and she recommended I try something else... I asked for a sample and she opened a store sample and invited me to try it. When I clarified that I was asking for a sample to take home and try before I committed to the full size product she commented that I didn't deserve any samples because I came in for a return. When doing my return she asked me for my info... Last name... Address... "oh Amy?" Uhm no dear it's MAY. "oh well they're the same letters, same thing" yea if you're dislexic, GEM! Still the same!?!? I didn't think so! I walked around the store while she finished my return and came back to the counter asking for different samples to try and she commented that I was lucky she gave me even one sample! Needless to say I didn't buy anything that day and will not be returning again. I know she gets rave reviews here in Yelp but not from me! I didn't appreciate being treated rudely and with sarcasm. And to add something else to this big pile of complaining, I commented on Kiehls FB page and was directed to their social director. I emailed and didnt hear back from them... So I commented again on FB and said so. I said it there and I'll say it here: No matter how good your products are, if your customer service sucks your products suck too! Keith was a wonderful help while picking out some men's products for my boyfriend. Understand that my boyfriend is more of a "just soap" kind of typical guy when it comes to skin care, and I wasn't trying to change that. Actually I almost laughed out loud when Keith asked if boyfriend currently used a toner. Together we picked out some nice products that would not overwhelm him with a "fru fru" skin care regime. The final gift included a men's moistruizer, exfoliating bar soap and a hair product (molding paste). Keith wrapped it up beautifully and even included a sample toner/aftershave. Ah, Kiehl's. I can easily blow a couple of hours in this store without feeling pressured to buy an entire lot of products. But that's okay, as I do this bi-annually anyway. And the staff is quite generous with doling out the samples! And who doesn't love free samples? At the top of my list: - Creme with Silk Groom (for amazingly soft and shiny hair) - Lip Gloss in Goldenberry (universally flattering shade) - Abyssine Eye Cream - Creme de Corps (my everyday body moisturizer during winter) Also, Kiehl's line for men is fantastic... they too can feel pampered but apothecary-style labels don't strip them of their masculinity. It's hard not to love Kiehl's; the staff at the store is friendly (though perhaps a little overbearing at times), the products are remarkably effective at doing what they claim to do, and the store has that nice old timey apothecary feel complete with the lab coat-clad staff. The only complaint I have is the price point of pretty much everything but the lip balm (a paltry $5). However, this is one of the stores that's worth the splurge and generally a little bit of the product will go a long way. I bought a 4 oz. bottle of moisturizer close to a year ago and I'm still not through with it. One nice thing about shopping at the store versus buying online is that they're generous with the samples and this gives you an opportunity to take home some products you're curious about but that you don't want to drop $40 on right off the bat. Additionally, I always leave with samples to try. I once bought a face wash and was unhappy with it. The sales person who sold it to me, remembered me and asked how I enjoyed my purchase. I really enjoy that there is an outside location instead of hunting it down at the department stores. I have always heard of Kiehl's but never bought any products. My friend and I went in on a regular day, the store was empty. The sales assosciate recommended me the Olive Oil Pak for my hair (it is awesome) and my friend talked me into the Yera Mate Face Lotion (also awesome.) They gave me a Deluxe Sample of the Olive Oil Shampoo, tons of packets of the Just Out of the Shower Hair Gel, and even more packetts of a toner. They even gave my friend, who was very curious about the mens shaving products and huge sample that they went out of their way to go in back and get. She was even honest about the tinted moisturizer not working with my skin tone. Good expierance :) read more

The products, service, and location at Kiehl's Chicago are second to none! Once you enter the store, you will be greeted by both the experienced, knowledgeable sales people and the inviting interior. The products themselves are so approachable (sample-able) and reasonably-priced that you will not leave this store without at least once purchase. There is usually a charitable cause (or two or three) supported by Kiehl's that you will find out about in the store. Some local (animal rights, usually) and some non-local charities. Some of the purchases you make at the the Kiehl's Chicago store will help these charities. The location is superb, although parking on Armitage Avenue in Lincoln Park is difficult. Go early on a weekend morning or during the day during the business week. When you buy a product (or even sometimes when you don't), you will receive 1-3 samples of different products (you can choose which products). These sample can last you up to a week and are great for giving you the opportunity to try different products. Products I recommend for any skin type or any person: Lip Balm #1, Creme de Corps, Avacado Eye Cream. read more

1. When I originally went to the store, the woman at the counter was very pushy with products I should purchase. I was looking for a cream I typically use, in a travel size, because I was traveling, and despite the fact I told her this, she insisted I purchase the larger non TSA approved container. I had to convince her that I would be back when I ran out to purchase the larger size. 2. During that initial visit, I also purchased the foaming face wash, and after two separate times of washing my face with it, my face was extremely irritated and splotchy, and I immediately returned it. This was understandable as my face is very sensitive, however when the employee told me I was using it the wrong way ("my water was probably too hot") that made me very frustrated. read more

I love Kiehl's. Their blue gel cleanser and toner have worked miracles on my fussy skin. Plus, an 8 oz. bottle lasts for about 9 months, using it twice a day. Beat that, ProActive! They also have a waxy product you can rub on your face if you are outdoors a lot during the winter--I swear by it on long runs outside. However, if you like their Creme de Corps body cream, do not be fooled by their creme de corps body wash. It was such a disappointment! It didn't lather at all, it smells kind of antiseptic-y and I did not feel moisturized afterwards. That being said, this is the only product I've tried that I can't rave about. read more

Kiehl's products have actually, noticeably changed my skin. After trying everything for the painful cyst-like pimples I'd get on my chin since I hit my mid-twenties- I was recommended products from their Yerba Mate line. The cleanser is amazing. It's a little over $20 for an eight ounce bottle, but it doesn't dry out my skin (which isn't really oily, more normal to dry) or cause it to sting (I've also got very sensitive skin). I love this stuff. I also could not do without their 'Supremely Gentle Eye Makeup Remover' or, of course, their 'Creme de Corps' body lotion. The staff in here are really helpful and will give you samples of everything. They're REALLY generous with samples as others have noted, and they seem to be very knowledgable about the products. Also, whenever I've had not so great results or haven't been thoroughly thrilled with a product, they've taken it back, issued a store credit, and supplied me with a couple weeks worth of samples to try a product that would be better for me. Their haircare line is great, too. I adore the 'Heat-Protective Silk-Straightening Cream'- I have super curly hair which I despise, and this makes a huge difference when I'm blow-drying it straight (every day). Their Olive Fruit Oil shampoo and conditioning mask (the one in the tub) are the only things that make my super dry hair feel shiny and healthy. I've never felt pressured to buy anything, and for a boutique they keep pretty good hours. They are also awesome with taking orders over the phone so you can just run in and grab your purchases (since parking in this area is rather awful). I love Kiehl's. I'm by no means wealthy (I'm a grad student!) but all of their products are worth the investment! read more

I know Kiehl's has been around, but I finally jumped on board by first getting their small size (great for travelling!) of Ultimate Strength Hand Salve at Nordstrom. I have really horrible looking hands in the winter have tried almost every brand of hand lotion there is and manicures can only do so much. My one savior, C.O. Bigelow Chapped Hands Remedy, was a keeper...until now. I came by on game day and found the store empty. That meant though fast check out and helpful staff. In addition to another hand salve to have at work (the other one I keep in my purse/home), I also bought a special edition* Creme de Corps, Creme de Corps Soy Milk and Honey Body Polish (body scrub that smells yummy), Ultra Face Cream, and lip balm #1. I can't believe I bought so much in one shopping trip, but I'm loving the stuff so far. Its clean, filled with wonderful smells and has friendly pretty people there to make you happy and give you things to make you friendly and happy. I fell in love with Kiehl's when i was living around the corner from the San Francisco store and was very happy to see one open in Chicago. I use the tinted moisterizer, spf products, and the lip balm #1. I basically cant live withought these things. Their products are very reasonable in price esp considering how gentle they are on your skin. The sales people at this store are a little less friendly than the ones in SF and NYC. Once you get their attention they are great, but they dont really great you or ask you if you need help- which is fine for me because i get the same things over and over and over. I've also never been offered samples there....the one in SF used to load me down with samples. I live too far away to bring my dog around when i'm there...but they always have some great pooch for me to play with. read more

I think I have to switch brands - made a visit last week and bought their biological peel after some consultation with one of their skin care specialists. The service was great - I asked alot of questions and he was great at answering. what I love about their products is that most of the facial products (if not all??) do not contain any alchohol - so it's not drying out your skin. I didn't buy the toner they have, but I received some samples and am LOVING the Calendula herbal extract toner. I also LOVE the biological peel - my skin feels really great in the morning. One squirt does the job (which means this bottle for $45 will hopefully last me for months) and I feel it working right away. I'm coming back for more stuff!!! read more
