I NO LONGER FEEL "SAFE" AT THIS WALGREENS! This is not about the service I received in the Greek town location. It's about what happened after I left the store. This occurred approximately 14-hours ago (12:30-ish am/2/3/24). It was around mid-night that I decided to walk down the street a few blocks to Walgreens. I only purchased cereal and milk... and a small bag of popcorn. For the record, hopefully everything inside the store was caught on the security cameras. While shopping in the aisles, I had spoken to a police officer who was shopping, thanking him for his service. They do a job that you couldn't pay me enough to do. Anyway, after walking slowly through the store (I walk slow due to health problems), I paid for each item then stepped aside to make room for the next customer while I looked at my receipt and put the items in my own (blue & white) shopping bag. It's made of a sort of sturdier than paper cloth. I got myself together and finally exited the store at a slow walking pace. By the time I reached the traffic light at the end of the block (going north at Monroe), I stopped to open my bag of popcorn. I was struggling to open the bag, due to health problems). Suddenly, a slightly taller than me, heavy-set male approached me from behind, demanding in a threatening tone to show him what's in my bag. I initially thought I was being robbed. I slowly turned around asking, "Why? (trying to stall and access)". The street was dark, isolated, and no traffic. Where's a cop car when you need one? Hey. There's a cop inside the Walgreens. That said, the guy kept demanding I show him what's in my bag. Was I being mugged? I asked, "Who are you?" He seemed to get frustrated not answering my question and demanded I show him the contents of my bag. Now, I really think I'm getting mugged. I still asked him, "Why?" He got even more frustrated and said, "Just open your bag!" Once again, I asked "Why?" Was this a hungry homeless person?,,, Retarded?... I mean, mentally challenged. Should I scream? I suddenly thought to myself... Is this a Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman moment (Feb 26, 2012) when a non-Black guy (hiding a gun on his person) stalks a lone African-American male in a dark, isolated area with no witnesses to start a physical altercation (fight) after which said non-Black guy pulls out the gun he was hiding, to murder the African-American male... Then claim he feared for his life, shooting in self-defense of the altercation he started with a guy who was minding his own business? He then said something like. "There's a box in your bag". A box? I turned to look inside my bag to see what box he was referring to. Before I knew it, he reached inside my bag and grabbed my box of cereal (Cheerios) and walked off real fast in the direction of the Walgreens. Did I mention, I don't walk fast? I walked back to the store to tell the police officer inside (provided he was still there) and the Walgreens that I had just been robbed by a hungry homeless person. He took my box of Cheerios and ran off. I still had the milk. I was willing to risk it sounding funny, By the time I reached the front entrance, the young woman who waited on me at the cash register met the guy just outside the store. She was talking to him. Oh... Is this moron a Walgreens employee who didn't have the sensed to identify himself as such? He was not wearing a Security uniform, and he was not the police. When I got there, the cashier was so apologetic. She told me that after my very slow departure from the store, an alarm went off. Really? It must've been silent because I didn't hear any alarm... and I was walking slow as a snail. I asked, "This is what sent this moron (still standing there for some reason) stalking down the street behind me?"... Oh... I get it now... He was treating me like I was a CRIMINAL. He expected me to blindly do as he said while refusing to answer my basic questions ("Who are you?" and "Why do you want to see what's in my bag?") Had I realized that, this would've ended with me cussing him da'hell out on the street... and probably escalating. Why didn't anyone tell the cop inside the store? Why send an inexperienced, over-excited, don't know anything employee who is not even law enforcement to assault me? OK. Now I can't help this. Was it because I'm black? Although the cashier apologized, this incident is still with me. For all I know, I was targeted, it was done one purpose, and I'm not convinced it won't happen again. Anyway, I just thought I should document this incident somewhere, in case incidents like this happen all the time to black people at this Walgreens location... or any others. read more

This pharmacy is always giving is such a hard time filling or refilling anything sent by my doctor over. It's always a vague answer like we need to confirm what your doctor's instructions are or it's an insurance issue. I always make sure to confirm with doctor before they send anything over and this just has been so inconsistent. Might need to find a different pharmacy nearby to avoid anymore issues or delays for when I actually need these meds. read more

The absolute worst pharmacy on the planet. Somehow on a Saturday there is only one person working the register. There's about 10 people in line and two others waiting. Upper management really needs to get its act together. It's not just staffing issues, as medication refills are typically partial making it necessary to make 2-3 trips to the pharmacy to get the total prescription. This is clearly not an issue with staff, but management who is trying to have minimal staff to save money. I'd highly encourage everyone to move their prescriptions to Amazon and have them delivered. What was once an incredibly frustrating experience 2-3 times a month is now something I no longer think about and is stress-free. What is the deal with the pharmacy at this location?? The line is ALWAYS long and slow moving. Prescriptions take several days to fill and I always receive messages about how my prescription is out of stock and they are waiting for it to arrive. You would think this is the only pharmacy in Chicago based on the long waits and product constantly out of stock. I won't be returning. read more

This Walgreens pharmacy sucks. Not just processes, the staff too. Walgreens side: Never actually have my very common medication in stock. Always order my small 30 days supply to have it shipped in a massive bottle with 10 lbs of paperwork. Staff: I literally called at 10a to talk to a pharmacists or pharmacy staff. Put me on hold because 3 people were ahead of me. 30 minutes later, 2 people are ahead of me. 20 minutes later I'm next in line. Run it down to a full hour and "we're on lunch break". It is NEVER busy enough for me to be on hold for an hour, even rush hour on weekdays. They are just LAZY I am finally, after 20+ years, switching from Walgreens. If you tell a customer that a prescription will be ready at a specific day and time, you should follow through. If there's a delay and you can't meet that commitment, please call the customer and let them know. I came to the store to pick up my prescription at the promised time, and it was not ready. I asked them to fill it to make the situation right, but I still had to wait another half hour. They're finished , they know it, and they've given up. Sorry for us even more when private takes them over. Prescriptions are thrown through a diner window to the floor, hopefully hitting a bin somewhere. Therefore, they always take five minutes to find your prescription. Need BandAids? Good luck. Complaining about the long lines? Remember, Walgreens is the retail KING at creating long lines. For decades. They don't shovel snow. Monroe and Hasted sidewalks?Untouched. Huge drifts on the sidewalk along the building so you can't get to it from your car. They mop the floors maybe once a week? Once a month? And then they send in 14-year-olds to do a crummy job. Two days before these pictures, the floors were as dirty and salty as Halsted Street; they must have just come in last night. Is there no pride? For a manager to tell a staffer "Get on that mop!" The health care system has it rigged against us. Our insurance companies have negotiated their monopolies: WE have no choice. "They can't get employees." Nonsense. I usually see half the staff wandering the aisles just killing time on screens. Slow motion everywhere. It's hard enough to deal with Walgreens, but when they slap you in the face with indifference and incompetence, it's insulting and infuriating. And sad. Walgreen's headquarters leaving Chicago? If I could leave zero stars I would. I have been painstakingly using this pharmacy for about 3 years since moving to the West Loop because it's the only one near by. It is by FAR the worst pharmacy I have ever used and I've been a Walgreens customer for almost 30 years. They don't answer the phone, they hang up on you, they are extremely rude and unprofessional. I have been trying to get a manufacturer coupon applied to my prescription for 4 hours and they still can't figure it out. This comes along with two calls to my doctor and 2 calls and 2 visits to the pharmacy. It's literally Unreal. Walgreens do better! read more

As a physician I would recommend avoiding this pharmacy if possible. I waited on hold for over an hour as a provider and heard the countdown of how many callers were waiting before me. When it was my turn, no one picked up despite my waiting another 15 minutes. They clearly do not answer their phones deliberately in the hopes that people will give up. read more

I hate writing bad reviews, but the pharmacy is beyond painful to work with. I suppose I don't feel as bad writing a review because it's not a small business, but when you have to come 3 times everytime because the lines are so long or just now I'm waiting and once it was my turn in the drive threw they pulled the curtain down and said they were closed for 30 min. I asked could they just take me. I've been waiting and there was no one else behind me. She said no. It's not easy for me to come over here. This Walgreens pharmacy are really bad. My mom had insurance covered her prescription. They tried to tell my mom that her insurance is not covered. Try to my mom to buy her own, and when my mom yes her own money to buy they told my mom is available, when I call them said is cover they see the yes and the immediately say that it's not available now which is the already put up my mom prescription on the counter and they lied to me say that it's not available. Sometimes I forget to tell whoever to send my prescription to Costco and *every single time* I come here I wait in line for 45 mins only to find out my prescription isn't ready yet or there was an insurance issue or whatever. In my experience, the employees here are generally friendly and helpful, but they are very understaffed. Not fair to them or the customers.

Quite possibly the worst Walgreens I have ever been too. I have had two prescriptions sent there since I live next door and both of them were never filled. When I went in to ask the first time to ask on the status they couldn't even find it the prescription and then gave me attitude when I showed them the email my psychiatrist sent that showed she sent it in, as well as the phone call which said they received it. Ended up switching to West Loop CVs Decided to give them a second chance and boy was that a mistake. My prescription was for adderall which I know is usually out of stock. Knowing this and with the past history, I thought it would be a good idea to check when theyd have it and just so they were aware of my prescription (unlike last time). The main pharmacist on duty (some middle aged caucasian man) practically laughed in my face when I asked when it would be ready. He did a chuckle through his nose and told me to get comfortable waiting for that since it'll be awhile. Was incredibly rude. Terrible service, and should have their license removed or fire everybody. Avoid at all costs, go to West Loop CVS. read more

Had a 10:15 am appointment for two vaccinations. Clerk said they were behind. Asked how long? 30 minutes was the reply. 30 minutes later, nothing happening--people leaving. 45 minutes later--totally gave up--they didn't even register me. Either they didn't have the vaccine or someone to do the inoculations--or both. They also need disability sensitivity training--several workers are clueless how to communicate with deaf people. Left without getting my vaccines. :( read more

The pharmacy here does not take prescriptions back and does not refund if you did not do well on it. This means that if you bought a prescription medication from them and then it did not work out well for you the first dose itself, your money is down the drain. I would recommend against using this pharmacy. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Craft beer fans pay attention. This Walgreen's has a top notch selection of craft brew. Yes, you read that correctly. Who even knew they sold beer? This past weekend whilst perusing their beverage aisle, I stumbled upon my Michigan favorite Greenbush. They've got bottles of Anger, Sunspot and the potent Brother Benjamin. I've also seen beers from Revolution, Rogue, Dark Horse, Bear Republic, Goose Island, Oskar Blues, and Stone. They've got it all: bombers, bottles and cans. Get some! I really like the redesign that they've done here too. The pharmacy is great and we are always out quickly. There is even a drive thru if you need to be fast. It looks like you can get some food shopping done here too. The cosmetic section has anything you would need, including those tiny little bottles of whatever that the little lady always puts on the shopping list and run like twenty bucks. I also love the convenience of having a Red Box right down the block in this store. So, yeah. I like this Walgreens. It's got everything I need and it's 24 hrs too. read more

UPDATE 7/21/18: The store manager at this location called a week after I posted this (I'd left my phone number with the Walgreens customer service department). Asked for a detailed explanation of what happened and apologized, promised to look into it. But it's Walgreens corporate policy that dictates what happens in the pharmacy department, so I doubt he can do much. I increased the stars from one to two because the store manager was so sincere. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Would you be comfortable using a bottle of prescription eye drops that came out of this box? Or would you ask the pharmacist to exchange it? I'd picked it up at the drive-through window and didn't open the sack until I got home. Phoned the pharmacy manager (PM) and asked him to exchange it, and he said no without even looking at the box. So I took the box to the pharmacy and showed it to PM, also pointing out that the sell-by date was only six months out. I've never filled a script here that expired in less than 12 months. And I've been filling my scripts at Walgreens for years. PM told me WALGREENS NOW SELLS DRUGS WITH A SELL-BY DATE OF ONLY THREE MONTHS. And since the bottle looked okay, he wasn't going to exchange it. So I handed the bottle to PM and kept the box (for the photos). Called Walgreens customer service, and they blew me off. So I called my insurance company, who spoke with PM, but he held his ground... even though it would have only cost about $40 for the exchange. Blue Cross transferred my prescription to CVS, who filled it in two hours (12-month shelf life). It ended up costing me an additional $65 more. We look at the sell-by date of meat and milk before we buy them. Not we also have to look at that date when we pick up our Walgreens prescriptions. Which leads to my final question: If Walgreens sells drugs to customers with a sell-by date of only three months, shouldn't they at least give them a discount? read more

This location is perfect if you just need to grab some chips or a drink. Otherwise, go to any other Walgreen's available to you! Either they don't take returns because it wasn't purchased from their store or they won't price adjust like others stores. These two things are bad enough, but then they top it off with poor customer service. It is often an, "It is what it is", attitude within this store. Did Walgreens fire their entire pharmacy staff and replace them with hires from a bad high school play where they "play" pharmacy? 2 Prescriptions requested and I was told it could not be picked up that day. 1.5 hours before close and I get it, trying to finish up before leaving. Was ready for pick up the next day at 10a. Ended up picking up on Monday, only one was ready as the other out of stock. Somehow, this happens every month. This is the 3rd time I am picking it up from you. Front desk staff (Ojalis?) said, no problem, pharmacist will order it and can pick it Wednesday if it is able to be ordered. I asked if I needed to speak w/pharmacist, she said no. Asked what I should do if medication cannot be ordered- would I be told it's not available...? she said to hope it was able to be ordered and if not, have it sent to another pharmacy. So... basically wait and see what happens. As we receive only 30 days at a time, time is really of the essence here. She didn't care. Wednesday comes, I go to pick the medicine, it's out of stock. Called first and they said it should be available. Went to store and they said they do have it but cannot have it ready for 2 hours. Mind you, there is no one in the waiting room. I asked if I could have my 2 sons receive the flu shot, petite lady with 4 inch pink heart acrylic nails says no. I asked her why not and she said it's by appt only. This location is not available on the app, I tried to book Covid shots here and was told to walk in bc not able to book. She said the pharmacist has to give it and when she asked him, he said no, by appt only. Could anyone hear me?? The location is not on the app. I called customer service today who said it was. I took a picture of the screen and said I could send it to him if that helped, he rudely said, "Can I finish my sentence?!" I was silent for a second, bc honestly, I understand that sometimes you have to tolerate garbage for the sake of your kids and I needed this flu shot for them. He gave me no information but to transfer me to the store. The Indian pharmacist was stressed but nice, said it wasn't available bc there were not spots available for the next 3 days. Well, at least someone told me what was going on. Super disappointed in this location. It's sad to see such apathy in healthcare. read more

I have never seen anything like this. People walking in and out of Phatmacy door nothing in their hand seemingly aimless. I get in a line only to be told I need to get in another line. The person serving this line walks around like there is no care in the world. She stops to chat with other lackadaisical people. Every time someone passes another there is a conference of salutations a an exchange of smiles while the line builds to 8,10 or more customers. People are in line because they are sick, they need medicine, not to exchange bacteria. It was like being in line at a bad Mc Donalds, no one cares, there is no pep in their step. Placed a same day delivery order. Apparently they deliver through door dash. Door dash called me saying they can't find my place. Connected me with dasher and I explained but 30 min later no order. I had no way to contact DoorDash. Called Walgreens customer service they told me only local store can help. Local store said they didn't know what I was talking about. Sent me to manager ..... I was on hold for manager for 20 min and then they hung up. Walgreens chat told me to call DoorDash and gave me a phone number which was a number for Dashers and not customers. Given another number to call who told me she needed to send me to a specialist but no one was available. So now it's been 45 min since they claimed it was delivered and I've lost the money I paid and I don't have the medications I need and I still have no resolution. I am not sure what to say. I was there once and saw a guy robbing the entire beauty line and when I mentioned it the staff shrugged their shoulders. If I need help to get out any locked items it's a 30 minute wait. To top it off the pharmacists can be beyond rude. When I thought there was again a missed amount of my prescription. Because they have missed pills before. I went back, the pharmacist printed out my script and threw it in my face. Yelling that this is what you're doctor ordered. Usually a pharmacist will or should work with you to resolve any issues you have. Such as call the doctor to make sure it's accurate. Worst overall staff of any Walgreens in the nation. It's Walgreens so what you expect to be here is, the extra perks are a better than average selection of last minute food items, they carry Delish which I'm assuming is their brand. I was happy to see that they carry 1% milk as many drugstores don't. They also have a plug in station for your car, which is pretty cool. read more

Waited 20 minutes and then he asked my wife about her sensitive medical condition in front of a bunch of people. Easy Walgreens to get to in the city and in Greek town take the Adams street exit if going East and turn right 2 times and here you are nice store with good employees and it has signs in Greek so a little difference from other locations read more
