Just went for lunch and had wings, a brisket sandwich with fries (and a hair in them), and a cobb salad (with undercooked bacon). On top of that there was a charge for each sauce for the wings and a service fee. They would not refund the price of the meals but offered new fries and a salad (without bacon?!). I have never had a meal with a hair in it that was still charged full price, or a salad without meat charged the same as with it. Anyway, we won't be going back. read more

This is a gem in Spearfish. We've come here every time we visit and it never disappoints. The staff is great and accommodating. Drink selection is good. Food is a little more "foodie" type for my personal tastes but the filet I had was the best steak I've had in a while. There is outside seating which is nice when the weather is good. read more

Their selection is interesting and pretty good, however, the quality can be a little inconsistent. Their beer list is great and they are always happy to let me try out their different ciders and beers as I don't know US beers well. We've eaten here four or five times and we have always come away with a smile. The food is usually good and the service is better. This last time, which happened to be on a Friday night was different however. Our server was inattentive and the food not so on as it has been. I had the pork polenta green chile. The port was inedible and I pushed to the side. Our server did not ask once how everything was and someone else came and took the plate away without asking why I did not touch the pork. Sorry I forgot to take a photo before we woofed down our lunch here. It was that good! I had the ahi tuna club. It was literally to die for. Whoever decided to pair tuna with a good marble rye and avocado is a genius. My wife's burger was equally delicious. The only negative is that NO ONE can eat their meals in one sitting. Here for the Sturgis rally- checked into our cabin and got on yelp to find a nice place to eat- great reviews so our party of 8 headed over to Killigans- awesome staff, very friendly and personable/ promptly received our drinks and a little history about the place- dinner was delicious! After some needless hemming and hawing, I got the steak frites (medium rare) with truffle butter. Wilson behind the bar steered me right - it was perfect. Whoever is doing the cooking here really knows what they're doing. Excellent beer list is a bonus. read more

I'm not all that impressed with Killians. Had the sirloin tips - they were tasty, but a lot more chewy than I expected. All they had on tap was craft crap -- none of the good old standbys like Yeungling. Reminds me of a Yuppie bar taken over by Millennials -- went from bad to worse. I'll be going elsewhere. read more

We stopped in while visiting Spearfish after reading the great reviews. We were so impressed which isn't easy. We shared the Red Pepper Calamari appetizer and the Brisket Dip sandwich with fries. The calamari had a great flavor and not too spicy. The brisket was melt in your mouth, not at all tough. The dip (au jus) was very flavorful. Beers were cold and waitress attentive. The waitress even brought out 2 au jus bowls and an extra plate without being asked since we were splitting the meal. Great experience. read more

We stopped into Killian's while passing through Spearfish based on good Yelp reviews. We were looking for something more than just burgers and fries and we really hit the jackpot with this place. To start, I had their BeeKnees gin and tonic and it was delicious and tart, yet smooth. My husband ordered the wild blackened salmon and raved about it with every bite. I ordered the Curry noodles with steak and broccoli which was really great too. I had to get a spoon from the waitress so I could eat up all the yummy curry sauce. Even though it was busy there on a Sunday night, we were greeted warmly, seated right away, and our server was very pleasant. There was a slight mix up on our order for which the waitress apologized and immediately made right on many levels which is exactly what we would hope for. Great little place. Stopped with our large family group of 11 when we were passing through. The service was awesome. The Cowboy Burger was great, my wife had the Ahi sandwich which was really big. In small-town-America, you can sometimes find hidden gems that have great food, service, and drinks. And sometimes you find absolute crap. This place is definitely part of the former. I would definitely frequent Killian's if I lived in Spearfish. We ordered a great local beer, a calamari appetizer, a hamburger, and the bangers and mash. All of it was delicious. Those are three very different dishes, yet all of them were fresh, had great flavor, and had great portions. The burger was actually well-done. It wasn't charred and it was well cooked with a slight amount of pink. The meat was delicious and incredibly flavorful. The breading on the calamari was delicious and light. They were fried perfectly and weren't too chewy or too hard. The bangers and mash had a lovely gravy and the cabbage was perfectly cooked (without being soggy.) It also has a great atmosphere and the sort of place where I could sit and have a beer all afternoon. This is definitely the sort of place where it would be great to be a regular. read more
