Best ski resort EVER. I go here every year with my family, and never leave disappointed. Killington is so huge, that there are rarely lift lines, and plenty of trails for anyone and everyone. I also love the people here, they are so kind! Food at the top is outstanding, with a breathtaking view. Other ski resorts are able to be seen spread across the horizon. I have to give it to the folks at Killington. We went there in May. Yes, May. After the rotten Winter we just had, that should have Mother Nature hanging her head in shame. And we were looking to say we were going to ski seven months. And they had open trails. The trip of K1 Express had a whale two stories tall from which the cats could scratch snow and groom the slopes at night. And yes, the conditions were actually quite good.... IN MAY! The food at this resort blew away my expectations for what ski resort food typically is (in MD/PA/WV it's fried chicken and French fries...). Expect resort pricing, but at least it is truly delicious. The food at Peake Lodge was great, and on a clear day, has amazing views. We loved the assortment of hot cocoa and cider drinks! Three of us shared the wings (crispy and perfect) and the jerk chicken quesadilla. One can of beer was $12 but was also good. The vanilla porter was a hit and I think $8 or $9. My friends who rented ski equiptment also had an easy experience. The trails were labeled well and we did so many fun runs! If Killington had night skiing, we would come back. I was pretty much dreading my trip up to killington because I'd tried skiing once before, and left battered, bruised, and frustrated. Killington changed all of that. I signed up for the 3 day learn to ski program - which includes 3 days of lessons and rentals as well as limited mountain access- for $207 when you book online. That's cheaper than mountains here in PA! I had all 3 lessons with Larry and he rocked! He was attentive, funny, and engaging and really made sure we had fun above all else. He pushed us all outside of our comfort zones but by the end of day 1 we could comfortably turn and stop, by day two we were on a lift, and by day 3 we were doing a green! Really thrilled with the whole process and my progress there. Would absolutely recommend everyone to go learn a snow sport there. read more

I went zip lining with my sisters on Labor Day weekend at Killington. The guy in the shop was great but the guy at the peak was vague ame my sister got her head smashed into the kettle bell like brake that wasnt well described to us. To boot the guy on the stand where we landed was incredibly rude condescending and obnoxious. So uncalled for. My advice... train your staff. I am writing this review after several attempts via phone and email to get a refund. I purchased a 3 day lift ticket, but was injured on the first day. I ended up riding the second day but ultimately made the decision to not go on the third day. I called to ask for a refund but was told I could only receive a voucher good for 54 weeks for a lift ticket. I explained I was unsure I could return within that timeframe. After several attempts they told me they couldn't refund my ticket and would only give a voucher. In my opinion that's terrible customer service if I didn't use the service/experience. I will not return now that I know this is how they treat customers. read more

I was very disappointed when I came to Killington. Although it's big, the weather was terrible when we came over new years weekend and there were no snowblowers because it was too warm. It was basically icy that day. The next day, there were snowblowers but only in select areas, so the overall landscape was still the same. If there were powder snow, my experience would have been so much more enjoyable. The lines are long but the runs are long too. A lot of places are quite narrow though and with so many people, it's actually pretty scary. They started using a card this year so nobody has to beep you, which presumably makes the lines faster but the lifts are the same speed so wait times are still long. There's many different lodges and parking lots, and both days we parked at K-1. The lodge is pretty small and gets really cramped during lunchtime, and I feel like there aren't enough facilities for all the people there. Window price is quite high at $124 a ticket, but Costco sells 3 tickets for $245 which is a good deal. read more

I don't want to call myself an "expert" but skiing is my passion. I've probably skied more than 50 different mountains in the U.S. and Europe. in the past 30 years. My "home" mountain is Killington. This is by choice, as there are many other ski areas closer to me (I live in NY). Since discovering Killington in '89, I've been a dedicated "weekend warrior" and have traveled to "The Beast of the East" consistently from late November to late May every year. Sure, B.C, Utah and Colorado are amazing - but let's be realistic; I'm an East-coast guy. That being said, I also love Jay Peak, Sugarbush, Plattekill, Mt. Tremblant, and some other areas - but Killington is my #1. Terrain: the most important piece for most skiers. Killington has it all; groomers, beginner's terrain, cruisers, bump runs, woods, natural trails and parks (and for you snowboarders, I hear Killingtons' parks are second to only Mt. Snow, plus they have a massive half-pipe). Snow: also important. What good is the terrain without coverage? Massive snowmaking is what gives this mountain the edge, especially during those tough seasons or mid-winter thaws. They can blow the crap out of this place! And, it's their snowmaking power that enables them to stay open for skiing until June most years. Extracurricular: apres ski scene is consistently rated #1 in the East by most magazines and websites. Special shout-out to the "Goombay Smash". A couple tips: - Have lunch at the peak lodge! Amazing views, and much better food than the base lodges. It can get crowded on weekends so get in their by 11:30. - On cold mornings Bear Mountain is usually the best place to start, it's warmer and faces south. Note, it's expert terrain only. - The Grand Hotel is at the base of the mountain and offers the best accommodations. Just steps to the lifts! - Got kids? Take a ride on the Beast Coaster, at Snowshead. - In the summer months Killington has some of the best single track and downhill/dirt jumping in the County! Many other activities as well. read more

After skiing only a couple other resorts in the northeast, it is clear that Killington truly is the beast of the east. With so much terrain to cover, I feel like I only skied a third of the mountain. It is a beautiful place and is well groomed. There are also several excellent dining options and the food and beverage seem affordable compared to comparable resorts out west. It's a great time and there is skiing for every level of skier. I would highly recommend it. I would also recommend finding the waffle house on one of the slopes for a snack. Delicious. read more

Our annual ski getaway spot, Killington is a great spot to spend a multi-day winter vacation. I've been here when snow abounds & also when the mountain could use a bit more, and they have the most snow making across multiple slopes I have seen in New England. A-Class views from the peak, they've got a solid amount of trails for all skiing levels, nicely laid out and dispersed across the mountain, allowing all skiers to experience all parts of the peaks. Great staff at all of the lodges make it extra enjoyable to take brewski & blooody mary breaks. They've also got a great setup for outdoor beverage enjoyment when the weather allows it. We typically make the K-1 lodge & gondola home base as its a great central point to venture from and get back to easily. We always stay in the Green Mountain condos and they have fast & easily accessible but transportation to and from the base of the mountain. Killington is our favorite spot in New England and we will continue to visit in the years to come! *Only critique would be that they don't sell "true" half day tickets. They give you a small discount, but it would be nice to feel like you had a cost effective option to only get out there for a few hours. It's always a daunting task reviewing ski resorts. So much of the experience depends on the amount of powder and trails open. This year when I went, the mountain was only partially covered, so some of the hardest trails were closed, and many of the others were quite icy from man-made snow. The resort is large, with multiple "base camps" from where one could start. There is the central K-1 gondola that takes you to the top, but it's annoying that you have to take off your skis and board to get on. The line is usually quite long, so you end up dragging your equipment around for a while. It's also situated next to the Waffle Cabin, so it's torture smelling that goodness while waiting. However, it is pretty fast. In terms of the trails, they do have some challenging and steep trails. The ones I went on were well-groomed. In terms of the facilities, the rental area was small but well-managed. There are some day lockers you can rent to put your shoes. They have large lodges with plenty of seating, although these fill up quickly. I was amazed at the number of venues serving alcohol, so if that's your thing, then you'll enjoy this mountain. In terms of parking, they have shuttle buses that come around and pick you up, so that's nice. read more

I came here two weekends in a row with large groups, and loved every second on the mountain. There are a good number of trails for beginners and experts alike, without too many crossings between the two (so as not to accidentally send a newbie down a black diamond..!). Customer service was impeccable - my girlfriend had one of her gloves stolen (just one? really, guy?) and guest services were happy to give her a spare pair. It basically turned a downright shitty start to the day into an excellent one. True value comes when the staff is able to empathize with your situation, and the Killington folks didn't disappoint. Similarly, mountain patrol would always offer interesting advice for trails to take, usually planning out sweet runs that kept us happy all day. Managed to score a deal ($100/2 day lift tickets) since we were a group of 16. The regular tickets can be pretty expensive, -1 star for that, but you get what you pay for. p.s. This review is for the Gondola and Peak Lodge. We obviously went during off-season (summer) and it was truly amazing! The views are spectacular. You can either take the Gondola up ($20/pp roundtrip) or hike (1.5-2hr hike), or rent a bike. We chose to Gondola it up, only because we didn't have time to hike. It was a quick but painful ride for me going up (I'm scared of heights lol). It takes you up to the Peak Lodge, which is about 4,200+ Feet up. When you get to the top, there are absolutely no words to describe the views! Its a complete 360 degree view of the mountain ranges all the way to Canada! Inside the Peak Lodge there are some couches and dinning tables set up with chef-served stations. Much like many places in VT, they offer local farmed meats, vegetables, etc. to give a farm-to-table experience. Theres also a complete bar in the lodge! We ordered a cheeseburger and a blackened chicken sandwich, both of which were absolutely delicious. My only qualm was that things are a bit pricier at the Peak Lodge. Nonetheless, it was a great New England experience! We plan to return in the Fall, hike it up and enjoy the fall foliage! :) read more

Killington will not disappoint when it comes to the variety and number of trails available. They range from the short, quick warm ups to the long, marathon trails. Amenities are conveniently located at each level of the mountain, so you're never left stranded without a Waffle Cabin or a bar nearby. Fair warning, the sweet aroma wafting from the Waffle Cabins are like sea sirens! Since I'm flying in from out of state, it's not convenient for me to bring my own gear. So I was pretty disappointed to see how old and dated the rental gear was at Killington. The boots looked like they were from bought in the 80's. So I strongly suggest stopping by any of the local ski shops on the way before heading to the slopes. read more

This mountain has become a proverbial shit box since I was a kid growing up learning to ski and ride here. There is nothing charming or nice about it anymore. Having worked here; I left.... Between cross contamination in food service, heroin use in lift operations, transporting garbage in gondolas, lack of employees following the regulations and outlines of the handbook, 3/4 of your staff being stoned 24/7, a lot of unprofessional relationships between staff members, no AAR with safety incidents and a lack of basic HR focus. This place went to "Jersey" and lost it's focus on being a healthy and fun place to be. This entire mountain is the prime example of what Vermonters mean when they say "don't Jersey Vermont." Killington, or Killingtime as your native and local boy used to refer to you as... your business practice made this slice of a Vermont a cesspool of scum, even f'd up Pico. If you're looking for herps, your shit to get stolen, junkies being a big part of your life and out of state scum leeching off your life: this is the mountain town for you! read more

Gigantic mountain! 155 trails, 4 peaks, 22 lifts, 4k elevation, very good for east coast! And I love the bar on the top. Get there and have a couple of loaded bloody Marys before noon, with a thick bacon in it. And then board down sloppy! You get 360 views of the peaks and apparently you can see Canada. But no need to hurt your eyes with that eyesore! Disclosure: people get animalistic getting seats up here for lunch. So come early. I went during the MLK weekend and even though only a bit more than a third of the trails were open I had a blast! I've also been to Stratton and although Stratton is more of a resort with the village and all, Killington just has a better feel and better trails IMO. Also my girlfriend was learning to snowboard and she was able to get equipment rentals, a green trail lift ticket, and small group lessons for 3 days for around $200. She was in lessons for 3 hours a day and felt like she learned a ton. When I met her after her lessons, she was a different level boarder each day! Loved this ski resort! We drove down from Montreal to meet some friends who flew in from Atlanta and stayed for 3 days. I'm not an expert, but it is definitely the biggest ski resort I've been to. We normally go to smaller, cheaper ones since we're no pros, but even as beginner-intermediate skiers/snowboarders we had a ton of fun and worth it with the Costco discount. There are a bunch of runs of all different types. Some super long, some quick and steep, some just full of moguls, etc. Everyone was able to find something their speed. It helped that the weather was perfect and it snowed all weekend. The gondolas were cool and we also ate at the jerk chicken restaurant which made some awesome fries. We stayed at an airbnb nearby that was less than 10 minutes away. Parking was a bit rough sometimes so I'd go early and take as few cars as you can. There is a bus that helps shuttle people to the entrance who park further away. And there are multiple different lodges to park at. What's also cool is that everything is connected by run/ski-lift/gondola so there's some path back to the lodge where you parked wherever you are (it just might take a minute.) What a great mountain. This mountain is huge and has tons of trails. There are options for people of all levels. It really is pretty big. The size of the trails is great and really allows one to feel as if they are out West. Also, I have been fortunate to get powder days and they are pretty amazing. There is a huge difference between powder and ice and most of the East Coast is Snoopy Snow Cone Machine territory. It is nice to go to a place and fall into snow. It is best to get there as early as possible and get the fresh slopes. read more

So I went to Killington to complete my ski lessons this weekend and I am so glad that I did. Our second day instructor was "bob from Boston" and he was very "hand on training" kind of guy. He explained us the basic maneuvering and turning technique and then helped us practice it on the snow shed area . He accompanied us several times up and down the hill and every time gave us feedback on what is wrong in posture and what needs to be corrected. By the end of the second session, we were able to stop ourselves and turn. That is pretty impressive considering most of us were first timers. The lesson lasted for 2 hours but Bob stayed with us half an hour after that to help us practice which showed his dedicated and caring for students. Second day we went for morning lesson and our instructor was different Bob. This guy was more intro teaching the theory and terms related to skiing. I was hoping for more for third day training but I guess it was part of their program so I went along with it. He emphasized on safe practices and led movements while turning and going uphill with ski and stuff like that. Overall, it was a coherent program and very helpful for beginners. I would definitely recommend trying their ski learning program!! FYI, this time we were able to park at the lower parking which was bonus :) read more

This was my second ski trip to Killington. The first time was with a large group of classmates for an organized school ski trip and the second was a trip with just my husband and I. Both were fun weekends, filled with great skiing on the Killington slopes. It is a great place to go skiing because of the following: - There are a ton of trails, so great if you are with a group of skiers with varying levels of expertise since there are many options - Many lodging options and good restaurants - Great après ski scene, as well as nightlife - There are often cool skiing/snowboarding exhibitions or competitions going on that you can watch. It was my first time on a huge mountain, and since I am a beginner, easy intermediate on the slopes, I was quite intimidated.  However, the two guides we had on our mountain tour from the Mountain Ambassadors Program, Paul and Glenn, were excellent.  They were very knowledgeable and were always cognizant of our level, yet brought us all over the mountain to all the peaks for almost 3 hours. I skied Killington on two trips years ago, but I don't particularly remember a lot since I was rather young. I do know that it is amazing mountain with some great skiing. This summer, I went back to Killington for the first time in about 10 years. My parents and I went up to the mountain one day and took the gondola ride up to the top. We went just to do a bit of walking around and enjoy the view from up top the peak. You can pay to take the gondola up one way or round trip. At the top you will find the ski lodge which is open with food during the summer. You also have access to several trails to hike around or down the mountain or even mountain bike down. (There are bike rentals available at the base of the mountain) On a clear day, the visibility from the peak is amazing. Killington also teams up with Pico Mountain, and you can purchase tickets to go over there and go Alpine Sliding or Rock Wall climbing. I definitely recommend coming up to Killington and seeing it in another light during the summer. It's interesting, beautiful and just different. read more

I must preface this by saying I was just at Sunday River and have been spoiled silly. That mountain got it right. Killington has a lot to learn. The lift folks are so- so friendly, there is no music at the lifts, the lines are killer long and not many staff around to organize the maze and masses. 8 adults in a Gondola, really? I was super claustrophobic and so did one run in one. Did not experience this mayhem last year. Also, it's odd but the clientele here seem to have no regard for others. Cutting lines and running over gear is commonplace. We do like the K1 area for a cool bar scene and outdoor seating area. Bear Mt. Lodge is way too crowded. The crowd is super aggressive NY and way too hyped up for me. We boarded during the mogul event so it was lively and crowded. 5 stars for the mountain ambassadors who greeted us daily. Also the sustainable toilets that save tons of water. read more

Trails were customized to fit different levels and you could even take the tram up the mountain. However if you would like to reach the peak, there's still a little walking/climbing. Second time here, although this time I actually know what I'm doing on the snowboard. The trails are well groomed, this last weekend I went it wasn't snowing, but the trails weren't icy at all. I recommend the Peak for a nice long run and Ramshead for a short run that is wide and better suited for people trying to refine their skills (or just go really fast!). The food selection... well, you need to eat, so unless you bring your own lunch, you have to eat here. The food is ok, nothing memorable. I didn't do any rentals, so no comments on that. I came here to snowboard, so I'm pretty happy with that experience. Recommend it to anyone looking for a large mountain with lots of different types of trails. read more

I was raised skiing/snowboarding in Alaska and currently a mammoth mountain local on the west coast. So take my review with a grain of salt, but I loved my visit to Killington. The reviews are true, the trails have plenty of variety to keep anyone moving and the lifts are great....the halfepipe is pretty wussy, but still kicks you up. Even though I still cringe when I hear someone call it a mountain, this hill does have mountain potential. Beginners, just watch out, some of those "greens" are a bit long with quick drops into blues. For the more expert minded, I feel the black diamonds are too short lived, and double diamonds are almost nonexistent, but they can be found and enjoyed to keep the thrills up. West coasters, don't whine about the drought, go have fun and visit Killington, Vermont. read more

Bring a friend to Learn to Ski/Ride and your friend will get a lesson, rentals and Snowshed lift tickets for the day and you get a full life ticket for the day all at $111 (that's $55 each!). For an additional $69, your friend can upgrade and get 2 more days of lessons/rentals/lift tickets at Killington and 3 days of rentals/lift tickets at Pico. 2. Waffle Cabins everywhere...mmm mm mmmm, love that smell! 3. 191 trails, 30 lifts, 7 peaks and runs that go on forever. Glades, glades and more glades. 4. The Stash. 5. Awesome apres ski activities. 6. Your lift ticket at Killington also works at Pico in case you get a bit bored, not that you could get bored with so many runs and terrain parks but if you do, just a shuttle ride away. Only complaint: the food could be slightly tastier for the price, I mean, $7 for a bowl of vegetarian chilli?! And no onion rings?! Pshah! read more

Great ski resort. With something like 60 trails (oops, just confirmed that there are 140 trails served by 22 lifts), the run possibilities are endless. I've gone several times over the last 15 years, and each time I've had a blast. From truly easy to deathly dangerous, there are trails for all levels of riders. While the Snowshed lodge is nicely updated (new?), the other base lodges are somewhat older though still nice. The food in the lodges is good but pricey, so I'd highly recommend stopping at the Killington Market to get some subs, snacks, and drinks on your way up to the mountain. Lift tickets are pricey, but, considering the size of the resort, they're definitely worth it!! read more

Killington is a fun place to ski... It's big enough that you could ski all day and not have gone on all the runs. There's a good mix of various difficulty levels. The snow is about what you'd expect in this area of the country, not fantastic, not bad either... obviously depends a lot on the weather that week a lot too. It gets crowded but not too terrible since the place is so big. The food at the K1 and other lodges is kind of blah, and the service is so bad you always wish you weren't eating there. And getting a table can be difficult. The service is horrid, just horrid though. Going here after noon will mean you're almost done skiing by the time you're done, since you'll sit around an hour wondering where your food and drinks are (and the mtn closes at 4). If you're renting equipment you're better off going to any of the number of ski shops that line the street just before getting to the ski resort, you'll get better equipment and/or the same for cheaper. Killington is a great mountain. I'm a NH native, that went to high school in VT, and now live in boston. This (and Jay) are the only Mt's i really want to make to trip to nowadays. The Good: The great part about "The Beast" is its diversity. If one part of the mt. is skied off, too crowed, too cold, too icy, too sunny, ect, ect there is another part that is the opposite. (note: in order to avoid crowds, you may have to put up with one of the other aforementioned issues). The terrien is varied as well, offering some good steeps, and mogals, as well easier trails too. Its got something for everyone. the restaurant/bar is almost too nice, sometimes having live music. i almost with that it was less inviting, so that there was more reason to get back on the slopes, instead of sitting down and having another drink or two and joking with friends :) If your traveling and staying for the weekend, get one of the condo deals, they are a steal, its roughly $200 per person, and you get the place for 2 nights, and a 2day ski pass. hard to argue with. The Bad: The place gets crowded!! (on the weekends especially) Now that i live in Boston, i sadly contribute to the trend of out of state "flatlanders" that come up for the weekends and clog the trails. :( oh, well. Thats life, i feel that it is due to the fact the average skier/rider at Killington is a few levels below what it is at most mts, which is fine, but all these people feel the need to go down hard trails that they aren't ready for, so they turn erratically, fall regularly and create trail traffic like that on sorrow drive at rush hour! not to mention they don't know the "rules of the hill" such as not stopping the middle of the trail, right after a turn on an elevation change.... That being said. i still go here, even though i have to brave such elements. they get good snow, they have good service, and its a fun nightlife too! also, i wish they had more tree skiing, i've heard that it exists. i just haven't found it yet, i guess... read more
